Chapter Text
The next morning Lucy wakes up around 4am with a rumble in her stomach.
“Well, here comes the morning sickness.” Lucy thought to herself. She gets out of bed trying not to wake Tim. She makes it to the bathroom and barely gets the toilet seat up before she throws up. A few minutes later Tim wakes up to see Lucy isn’t next to him. He hears Lucy in the bathroom and he can tell she’s getting sick. So he gets up to go check on her.
“Luce, you okay?” Tim asks sounding concerned.
“You know how Lopez said that the morning sickness wouldn’t come for another week? Lucy says
“Yeah.” Says Tim.
“Well, it’s here and it’s coming at full force.” Lucy says with one elbow on the toilet seat and her hand over her head.
“Anything I can do?” Tim asks
“No, I think I’m good for right now.” Lucy says as she’s getting up off the floor with help from Tim. Then pulling her in for a hug. “At least we can go back to bed for a couple more hours. I’m going to go get some water then I’ll be in there.”
“I’ll get it for you.” Tim says. “Go lay back down.”
Tim goes to the kitchen to get Lucy some water. He even gets her a couple saltine crackers to help her stomach.
“Here you go.” Tim says. Thought a couple saltines might help your stomach too.”
“Thanks babe.” Lucy says as she sits up in the bed to take a drink of her water and eats her crackers.
They both go back to sleep til their alarm goes off.
Two hours later their alarm is going off.
“Good morning beautiful.” Tim says as he’s giving Lucy a kiss on the forehead. “How’s your stomach?”
“It’s good for right now.” Lucy says “Hopefully I’ll make it through the work day without getting sick.”
“You ready for your first day as a detective? Tim asks
“More than ready.” Lucy says “Hopefully they got some leads on Aaron’s shooter and we can solve this thing today and somebody in cuffs. I’m going to take a quick shower.”
“Want some breakfast?” Tim asks “Eggs and toast? Something that will settle easy on your stomach?”
“Sounds perfect.” Lucy says as she leans in to give Tim a kiss. “I’ll be right back.”
Tim lets Kojo out and starts breakfast while Lucy is in the shower.
“Smells good in here.” Lucy says as she’s walking back in the kitchen.
“Coffee?” Tim Says
“Yes, please.” Says Lucy as she is sitting down at the island. “Thanks” Lucy takes a sip of her coffee and makes a face. “Ohh damn.”
“You alright?” Tim asks as he places Lucy’s breakfast in front of her.
“I read that during pregnancy and mostly the first trimester your smell and taste buds can change.” Lucy says. “As of right now I can’t drink coffee. The smell isn’t bothering me, just the taste.”
“I’m sorry.” Tim says as he sits next to Lucy to eat his breakfast.
“Eh, it’s fine.” Lucy says. “Probably shouldn’t be drinking it anyway. At least I don’t have a problem with the eggs and toast.”
They finish their breakfast then get ready for work. They arrive at work about 30 minutes later. They both arrive at the same time Nyla does.
“Good morning you two.” Nyla says. You ready for your first day detective Chen?”
“More than ready.” Says Lucy. “Got a taste of what morning sickness is like at 4 this morning. So that was fun. And the taste of coffee now gives me the ick.”
“It always is.” Nyla says jokingly. “ I had the same problem with coffee when I was pregnant with Lila. Except I couldn’t handle the taste or the smell. You feeling nauseous or anything this morning?”
“Right now I’m good.” Lucy says. “Guess we’ll see how the rest of the day goes.”
“Do you know if there was overnight leads on the shooter?” Tim asks
“I haven’t heard anything.” Nyla says.
“”Serg, any leads? Lucy asks
“Yes.” Grey says. There’s four masked men they found. Very dangerous men. After roll call Harper, Bradford, along with Nolan and the rest of Metro are with me to go after them.
“What about me?” Lucy asks with a confused look on her face.
“You’re staying put Chen.” Grey says “It’s way too dangerous with you being pregnant.”
“I’ll be fine.” Lucy says
“Lucy, he’s right.” Tim says. “One of these people shot Aaron and attacked Celina. They’re going to probably put up a fight with us. Stay here and keep our little one safe. You’ll have plenty more opportunities soon to get on the streets and catch bad guys soon.”
“Alright fine.” Lucy says. She’s not happy about staying behind but she understands everyone’s concern.
“I’ll give you a couple case files I have on my desk you can look into.” Nyla says
About 30 minutes later they head out. Tim walks by Lucy’s desk as she’s going through the case files Nyla gave her.
“Please be careful.” Lucy says. “Do me a favor and call me when you’re on your way back here so I know you’re okay.”
“I will. Love you.” Tim says as he gives Lucy a kiss on the top of her head.
“Love you too.” Lucy says
About an hour later Lucy’s phone buzzes
“Hey did you them” Lucy asks
“Yeah.” Tim says. “They put up a hell of a fight like we thought but we got all four of them.”
“Thank god.” Lucy says sounding relieved. Are any of y’all banged up?”
“I’ve got a few scratches on my face but nothing serious.” Tim says. “See you in a few.”
“Okay” Lucy says as she feels nauseous again. “Tim I gotta go. I’m starting to feel nauseous again.” She hangs up the phone before Tim can say anything else and runs to the bathroom.
“She alright?” Nolan asks Tim
“Morning sickness.” Tim says. It started this morning. How long did Sarah have it when she was pregnant with Henry?”
“I want to say maybe a couple weeks.” Nolan says “Some days were better than others.”
About 10 minutes later Lucy walks back to her desk and Tim is coming her way along with Nyla, Grey, and Nolan. The rest of metro are not far behind them bringing in the masked men.
“Hey.” Tim says as he reaches out to give Lucy a comforting hug because he knew she had just got done getting sick. “You alright”
“Yeah I’ll live.” Lucy says. “Comes with the territory for right now I guess. Those are guys?”
“Yeah.” Grey says. “They’re going away for a very long time.”
The rest of the day goes smoothly. Nyla and Lucy make arrests for the two cases Nyla had Lucy looking into.
“You about ready to head out?” Lucy asks Tim while she leans into the doorframe of his office.
“Give me like five more minutes.” Tim says. “Just a little bit more paperwork to finish up. You want to go to the hospital and see Angela and the baby.”
“That sounds like a good plan.” Lucy says. “Should we see if they want dinner?”
“Sure” Tim says. “I could go for some Chinese.”
“That sounds good.” Lucy says. “I’ll give Angela a call.”
Lucy dials Angela’s number and puts it on speaker so both her and Tim can talk to her.
“Hey Luce.” Angela says when she answers the phone. “What’s up?”
“I’m waiting on Tim to finish up a little bit of paperwork then we’re heading out for the night.” Lucy says. “We were thinking about coming up to the hospital to see you, Wesley, and the baby. Is that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.” Angela says,
“Have y’all had dinner yet?” Tim asks
“No, Wesley was about to leave and go get us something.” Angela says
“We’ll bring dinner.” Tim says. “Chinese okay? Or we can bring whatever you guys want.”
“No, Chinese sounds great.” Angela says.
“Okay. I’m about to get changed out and we’ll be up there,” Tim says.
“Do y’all need anything?” Lucy asks
“No we’re good.” Angela says
“Okay, see you in a little bit.” Says Lucy.
About an hour later Tim and Lucy arrive at the hospital.
“Hey.” Tim says. “And dinner is served.”
“Hi.” Angela says
“Ohh my gosh.” Lucy says. “She’s so precious.
“Lucy, would you like to hold your goddaughter?” Angela asks with a smile on her face.
“I’m sorry, my what now?” Lucy asks with a shocked expression on her face.
“Your goddaughter.” Angela says again. “Tim, Lucy. We would love it if you two would be Amelia’s godparents.”
Lucy gives Tim a look with a smile on her face when Angela is handing Amelia to her.
“We would be honored.” Tim says as he walks over to Lucy who is sitting next to Angela on the edge of her bed and kneels down next to her.
The two couples spend the next couple hours enjoying their Chinese food and getting baby snuggles.
