Chapter Text

He was on the run, always looking at the east for a safe place. He cursed himself. He had only made himself a fool for believing his hopeless stupidity.

“Why I am a fool-“

He saw something bloody, fear-inducing encounter with an enemy. He watched in horror as a large daemon was gulping with a pile of bodies of humans. It was stuffing itself with dedicated gusto. He could feel the bile from his stomach rising.

Blood was dripping, bones crunching… he felt his body stiffen and freeze. Then what added to his already unstable fear that grew inside him was the fact it wasn’t alone. Another two joined it as they devoured everything they saw in sight.

I need to go! My power isn’t enough to kill it.

Feliz and Vestus remained with the other humans. Frisk saw the rationality of their hesitation to leave the sanctuary.

“Princess Abe, don’t leave.” Some of the children pleaded. They found the Dragonid lady a bit charming and pleasant to talk with.

“I can’t,” Abe sniffed, she hugged them as they sent for them on the mouth of the mountainous chasm. “I’ll be back when everything’s fine, okay.”

“Okay,” they are slowly wiping the tears and snot on their faces. They could not bear to see the quirky princess leave.

“By the way, I haven't seen Sans these days?” Frisk asked out of the blue.

Asriel put his hand on Frisk’s shoulder. “He said about taking a shortcut back to Dreemurr. You know I was feeling a little jaded these days.”

“Asriel,” She turned around, giving him a small peck to his lips.

“W-what…?” He could feel heat rising inside him, he felt his face flustering. “F-Frisk.”

“Isn’t it working?” She asked, smiling even as he was stuttering.

“Right…” he answered. That sweet gesture made him feel happy inside, he forgot his worn out self.

They walked for miles; many hours had passed until they were stopped on a large outline of a town. Then a loud crush made them look for the source.

“There,” Kadesh pointed out of the three huge, black figures swarming in the middle. “And a lone human was fighting them.”

“That was quite suicidal,” Chara commented. She squinted her eyes to get a better look. “Hey, wait a minute…” She suddenly leaps out and flies towards the skirmish.

“Chara!” Abe shouted, she reached her hand and flapped her wings. “Wait for us!” She eventually left the rest behind.

“Should we go too?” Kadesh asked; he felt a bit frightened with what they saw. Until a loud booming sound erupted, a sudden gust of strong winds whooshed to their direction, making them seek shelter on the ruins. Frisk and Ifwen were almost blown away by the gust.

“We should go!” Asriel ordered and they ran.

“Who are you?” Rico saw a woman annihilate a daemon with her strange magic. It was his first time to see reddish-black magic for the first time, a darker sense of determination.

“You better save your questions first, boy.” The woman told him, he shut his mouth. He heard a squelching sound that made him look towards its source.

“NO,” he gasped. He can see the daemons trying to revive itself. “It can be!” Rico can see how they were now forming into one giant blob of flesh and other substances he can’t describe.

“That looks gross,” a dragonid came to his aid. She quickly dived down and had Rico in her arms. “Sorry, we should have Chara finished the enemy first without standing in her way.

“You don’t look human to me…” Rico whispered before he passed out.

Chara hacked her way to the giant daemon. “Gah!” She feels sick hearing those squelching sounds every time the daemon throws its tentacles in her direction. She even wanted to puke. Her eyes widened when she realized what bloody pile of goop was left on the ground below it.

Hundred human bodies were decapitated under its wake. Even the buildings were flattened under its massive size it was accumulating.

‘I can’t allow you to be spared.’ Chara raised her knife, it became a scythe. She held it with her two hands, slowly swung it down and unleashed an unparalleled force that shook the ground.

The daemon was split in half. Chara’s magic became million needles that molecularly pierce the enemy. She can hear how it was moving in and out of the daemon’s slimy skin and decapitating it to tiny pieces.

“Chara!” She heard someone was coming and she saw Frisk came first on the spot; followed by her brother and the boys. Frisk paused and her eyes widened, she was looking at her aftermath of her fight.

“Chara, did you just split the earth like it was nothing?”

“Yeah,” Chara nodded, “when your enemy was trying to become a giant octopus. I don’t want to see it again.” she noticed how Frisk sighed, probably a little disappointed with her apathetic comment. She could not fault her for being herself, Chara being Chara.

Frisk noticed Princess Abe holding a male human in her hands. The dragonid landed just in front of them. “Miss Frisk, I saw this boy hiding after a little fight he put up with-”

“Rico…?” Frisk hugged the unconscious boy. Asriel and Abe look with clueless gaze as they see her hugging the other human.

“Frisk, is there something we need to know?” Asriel asked. He put his hand above her shoulder. She didn’t say anything and just cried.

Frisk could not believe that she would ever see her friend again. Her friend that she spent her time with in boonies… Rico… she thought, what happened to you?

Asriel picks up the unconscious human as Frisk handed him to him. “He’s my friend, he was like a little brother to me.” She said as they walked. Asriel could see Chara was watching with curiosity between her partner and her brother.

“So, you grew up in an orphanage?” Kadesh asked. Frisk had flinched at his question. Asriel signaled for the other prince to not continue the topic. “I’m sorry…”

“No, I have been living on my own since my parents died. It was Rico who grew in the orphanage, until that night happened. I don’t want to remember my parents’ deaths being… I want to remember my happy memories with them.”

Hearing his wife’s voice crack, Asriel couldn’t help but to hug her. He can’t still get past his emotional outbursts during emotional moments. “Frisk…” He started to sob, sniffed and cried.

“Hey, brother… You really look ugly if you just cry like that.” Chara slapped him on his back, making him trip a little.

“Chara!” He blurted, “You know I’m emotional when it comes to this, so I c-can’t really help if I cry.” His answer made everyone chuckled. He felt embarrassed that he was looking like a fool to everyone. “Stop it, guys!”

As for Frisk, a smile crept from her face. Even when the world ending, at least she had her loved ones by her side.
