S Being a Goober!! >:D

Chapter 2: The Creation of Penny the Metal Pupper!

Summary:

S continues to work at a project for her sister, E. Said sister has been gone for at least year at this point, but S still feels like she may be coming back soon. At least, she really hopes so.... Whether she is right or not, only time can tell. Despite her sister being gone, S continues to work at this gift. She loves her sister and wants to show that by creating something she knows E would love :D

Notes:

Takes place 14 months after E's disappearance, which happens about 18 months before Heartbeat. During this chapter, S is more or less trying to make herself feel better despite the disappearance of her sister oh so long ago.... She's trying to distract herself from the pain. (Poor goober....)

Chapter Text

S was back at her pod, mechanic’s tools in hand. Her first project in a long time stood in front of her, half finished. She was working hard on it, sweat droplets clearly seen on her visor.

The half-finished project looked like the skeleton and musculature of a mechanical dog. All she needed to add were the ‘tendons’, ‘skin’, eyes, and programming for the mechanical dog to work properly. She also wanted to add a few hidden features that she’d thoroughly enjoy (like a  spray paint function in the mouth for pranks MUAHAHAHAHA-)

Anyways! S wanted to finish this today, but she was missing a few key pieces. Those being proper eyes for the creature as well as the enamel she’d need for its casing. She’d also like to find a working core. Thankfully for her ( and the poor workers who would’ve met her claws) she  had plenty of worker enamel at her disposal. She was missing a core though…. She could always make and program one for herself, but she really wasn’t feeling that right now. Then again, it beat killing workers and getting in trouble because of it.

S let out a long sigh, knowing full well this would set her back in progress by a few weeks at best. Too late to worry about it now….. S instead got to work picking out corpses to peel the enamel casing from. This was a gruesome process, one that she’d learned to shut her mind off too. S began to peel the enamel that looked the best off the already long dead bodies that littered the floor of the spire. She kept her mind focused on the song she was playing as well as the movement of her hands, not letting herself think much of exactly what she was doing. Once she’d gotten the right amount of casing, she began to clean the frozen oil that seemed to stick to the inward facing parts of it. This process took her about 10 minutes.

Once S was done with that, she grabbed the finished casing off the ground and moved it over to beside her build.

S then picked up one of the pieces that would best fit a certain part of the creature's body before switching her hand to a welding tool. Then S placed the casing onto the body part and went to start welding. Then an idea struck her right then and there and she pulled the tool away with a grin on her face.

She realized that the enamel casing of drones tended to be really easy to crack, so why not give this robo dog reinforced casing??? There was plenty of metal and steel around the dead bodies of drones, so why not melt those down and coat the enamel in it?

S was positively hyped for this and immediately set to work melting down the metal from the bodies into a large metal pot she’d stolen from a blacksmith-like shop. It likely was a tourist location or something, but meh. Once the metal was melted down, S picked up the enamel with a pair of metal tongs (Which she may or may not have also stolen from the blacksmithing shop). S then dipped the casing into the metal, making sure to submerge it all the way. She then lifted the enamel out and placed it to cool on the cool, snow laden ground. She repeated the process with all the other enamel pieces she had, then let them cool for another two hours. During those two hours, S practiced bass and got some sleep in. After her timer for the enamel went off (and woke her from a dead sleep) she got up and moved to begin the next step.

S checked the temperatures of the enamel, then picked one up and threw it at the pod with ‘all her might’. The pod was slightly dented in and the enamel was a little scratch, but both ended up fine. The grin this caused her to have was almost manic from excitement.

“YES!!! IT WORKED!!!”

She shouted as she pumped a fist into the sky from pure excitement. This was good, really good! Now her new build could withstand much more of a physical beating than even her if she was without her healing!

S immediately got to work welding the pieces to the machine, making sure to leave a space for the visor and the core. When she was finally done, she gazed at her creation with eyes filled with bright happiness and wonder. It looked exactly like what she’d imagine a robot dog to look like, minus eyes and a paint sprayer. She grinned at it, deciding that this was about as far as she wanted to go with it for today.

S began to drag the metal dog towards the pod, dropping it off at the side of the ship. Then she took her supplies and stashed them away.

Once she was done packing everything up, S moved over into the pod and turned on the tv she’d mounted to the wall. Using her own internet connection, she put on some games she loved to play and began to work on fighting through what she believed to be 100% totally the hardest boss. While she was doing this she thought:

Today was a good day! I got a lot of that build done and had some fun learning a song. Then I got some much needed rest! Yeah, today was a good day.
