Chapter Text

Thursdays were the worse days for Innie, because they primarily focused on dancing at JYP those days and whilst he was pretty good he sometimes fell behind. Plus at school he had to deal with double science and double P.E. so they were just exhausting days in general to begin with. He didn’t complain too much, but everyone knew that when he would eventually get home from practice that all the little cub wanted to do was to scarf down his food, have a shower, be read a story by his Mama only and cuddle into him until he fell asleep. Which usually happened within five minutes because he would just be so exhausted.

This particular day had been extra long as he had to complete two written tests for science class, where the questions had a requirement of the answers being fully explained with diagrams and formulars and one of the questions had been some theoretical discussion where he had to write out at least five hundred words. Normally these weren’t a problem but having been in a rush in the morning, Innie had forgotten his usual science pencil case so didn’t have half of his equipment, his second favourite pen had leaked all over his pocket and paws and he had forgotten the final point for the theoretical question despite having revised it so often over the past couple of days.

Then had come P.E. and someone had decided that they needed to all practice for the upcoming school triathlon even though only six of the boys in class were participating. That meant that they had to swim ten lengths of the pool, run around the track ten times and then get on the bikes and ride them around the track five times. Innie had been doing reasonably well until he reached the bike bit, and had been rammed into by one of the bullies. He had toppled to the side and scraped up both his knees and received a bonk to his head and had to the sent to the nurses office. He was okay, thankfully, but the nurse had used the stingy stuff to clean his knees and the ice pack on his head was already half melted so it didn’t really work out for the best in the grand scheme of his day.

Plus when he got out, Mama wasn’t there to pick him up as he had meetings to attend, Changbin and Jisung were busy with some recording that they were working on and had forgotten completely and Innie just didn’t want to deal with Woojin that day at all. He quite liked the other now, as he had gotten used to his presence but there was still something in the back of his little head that just wanted to bite him and tell him to go away. But he wasn’t a bad hyung, he looked after everyone and kept things relaxed and fun so Innie could never actually explain it. Maybe if he had encountered an Kitsune who could’ve helped him tune into his powers then he may have learnt a thing or two but there was no other Kitsune that he knew so he just kept brushing it off.

Plus Woojin had gone out of the city to meet up with family so wasn’t available anyway which was quite the relief to Innie.

But the little Kitsune wasn’t afraid to walk to the JYP building himself, as he knew the way and pretty much everyone knew him by sight now so it wasn’t so much of a deal anymore. He finished school and set off, only for more troubles to plague him as every crossing seemed to be stuck, his favourite convenience store had run out of his favourite brand of strawberry milk and his purse had gotten a hole in it so he didn’t have enough money to buy any snacks. He still thankfully had his ID card and meal token for JYP so that was something so he set off sulkily towards the main building.

Plus there were threatening rain clouds appearing in the sky and Innie didn’t have his umbrella with him but thankfully he managed to get to the building before it started to rain so that was something. Heading in, he greeted people who greeted him but anyone could tell that he was in a mood regardless and just let him be. Trudging up the stairs, as the lifts were too crammed for his liking, Innie headed to the practice room where his lesson should be taking place.

Only to find no one there, except an black haired and very tall omega who seemed to be doing a solo routine. Innie came to a stop, blinking rapidly in confusion and then decided to check his phone. Which was on emergency calls only for no good reason but an email did show that said that class had been cancelled a little while ago and that if they came in then they could watch the seniors classes but it was optional.

“Whaaaaa!” Innie let out a sound of total disappointment and flopped to the floor in a miserable mess. Granted he would have probably come to the main building anyway, but this was just the straw that broke the camels back after what had been a very long, tiring day for the small cub. Innie just wanted to throw a tantrum because he needed some kind of release but knew that it wasn’t the best thing to do either because he would just be classed as being bratty. But he was also upset, annoyed and wanted a hug so bad so he pouted at the floor and let big fat tear drops fall from his eyes.

“Hey there sweetie,” came a soft voice from above, causing Innie to look up, “Oh, what’s wrong?”

The owner of the voice was tall, but gangly in that way which meant he hadn’t fully grown into his limbs as of yet and had shoulder length black hair and warm brown eyes. His fur was a creamy white, highlighted with blues and pinks in subtle shades though upon closer examination it was clear that there were a lot more colours lingering in the fur as well. He had a gentle smile, stank of sweat from practice but held an warm rose scent the was clearly omegan in every shape and form. He radiated a soft, peaceful aura that was just the very thing that Innie needed right now and with a half wail, the young kitsune cub flung himself into the others arms.
“Today has been terrible!” Innie wailed at this complete but clearly safe stranger, “Innie had to go through the worst science test, got leaked on by pens, then the mean boys pushed me over during P.E. and my knees got all scraped up and then none of my hyungs or Mama were there to pick me up and I get here and class is cancelled and just…waaaaaah!”

For the longest time, Jeongin had no idea how long it actually was, the cub just stayed in the omega’s arms and cried his little heart out. He didn’t understand why, as there had been worse days than this but everything had just been a little too much. He was too young to process all of these difficult emotions and they all tumbled out of him in an overload that would have concerned many. However the omega that he was clinging to was not bothered in the slightest by this strange outburst and merely sat there, gently stroking through the cubs black hair and scratching at his ears until he was cried out and began childishly sucking on his thumb. He was extremely tired now, after his emotional outcry but didn’t know if it was a good idea to sleep or not.

“There we go,” the omega chuckled softly, “Baby bread feel better?”

“Baby Bread?” Jeongin asked, turning his head up towards the other with a curious look in his eyes.

A flush crossed the pretty hyungs cheeks, “Oh sorry, you just reminded me of a cute little bread character that I saw and since you’re so small I decided that your baby bread.”

The cub blinked, curious for a few seconds before shrugging it off and smiling a little, “I’m baby bread.”

“You certainly are,” smiled the omega, chuckling a little, “I think we may need to get you back to Mama Bread, huh?”

Jeongin nodded and checked on the time on his phone, after wiping away some sleep from his eyes that was definitely going to make him itchy for the next hour or so. “In meeting for a long while…hyung’s in studio or rehearsal…like I should be.” he commented softly before yawning.

“Hmmm, except the class huh?” the omega said, then brightened up, “How about I go through some routines with you huh? Cause I find that having a bit of fun after crying makes everything better.”

“Pretty hyungie will dance with Jeongin?” Jeongin asked, softly and slightly bewildered as honestly the thought had never occurred to him that he could ask the clearly senior student to rehearse with him.

There came a chuckle from the omega, “Sure you can. Though call me Hyunjin hyung, okay? Can I called you Jeongin?”

Jeongin nodded, happy with the outcome of this moment, “Yes! Then when Mama comes we can tell them everything together.”

“That sounds like a good plan, though you may want to go and wash your face before we start dancing, tears and sweat do not mix well together no matter what people say,” Hyunjin stated with a smile.

Jeongin happily raced off to the bathrooms which made Hyunjin smile and then send a message to a couple of people whom he knew would get the message passed onto the right people to eventually inform Chan of the whereabouts of his cub. Everyone in JYP knew to do this, so there was a whole communication network going on, which should have never broken down but unfortunately it did.

Just as he finished sending the messages, Hyunjin found himself with a very excitable Jeongin on his hands and together they started to dance. Of course Hyunjin was in far more advanced classes than Jeongin but that didn’t matter as the elder merely reverted to routines that the younger knew or heard of and spent more of his time correcting Innie rather than dancing himself. Though Jeongin did get to watch Hyunjin work on his upcoming evaluation routine which had the cub utterly mesmerised for the entire time that the omega danced.

He couldn’t quite explain it after, all he could do was clap very loudly but he was bristling with excitement. “That was so great hyungie, it’s so pretty,” Jeongin grinned towards the other.

“You flatter me way to much, but thank you Jeongin,” Hyunjin replied, a little bashfully.

“No! It’s so pretty cause Innie say so!” Jeongin playfully huffed towards the elder, with too big of a grin on his face to hide the fact that he was anything but spellbound by that dance. It was amazing to the young cubs eyes and he really hoped that everyone would see it and think that it was just as amazing as it had been.
Hyunjin just chuckled, “I’m never going to win in an argument with you, am I Innie?”

“Nope,” Jeongin acknowledged with a cheeky little smirk, “Cause I’m too cute and no hyungie of mine can resist.”

“Jeongin, we really need to give you some lessons on being respectful to people,” Chan’s voice drifted in as he appeared through the doors, looking as forever smitten with the cub as he should be.

“Mama!” cried Jeongin, rushing over to the wolf to give him an hug happily. “You came.”

“Of course I did,” Chan smiled back, gently ruffling the youngsters hair. “I wish I had known earlier about the cancellation, I would have taken you out for dinner.”
Jeongin shook his head, “Nope! Jeongin happy cause he got to see pretty dance hyung dance and it made everything better.”

Hyunjin flushed a little as the elder omega’s attention drifted towards him, but he smiled. “Jeongin had a bit of a bad day, so I gave him a little bit of comfort and then helped him out with dance practice for a little.”

“He’s so good, Mama!” Jeongin rudely chimed in, “You should see it!”

Chan chuckled, “I have seen Hyunjin’s work before, baby, and I agree that he is great at what he does.”

The multicoloured omega flushed at the praise, “Please, sunbaenim, I’m not anywhere near that stage yet.”

A blink of brown eyes was all he got in return accompanied by a shaking of the head as Chan chuckled a little more, “You really are humble, aren’t you?”

Hyunjin scratched at the back of his head, “I just…people says things. I know that we’re all competing but I just don’t like fighting against others, it causes problems.”

“Hmm, don’t I know it,” Chan grinned back before glancing at the watch, “You in the dorms?”

“Yeah but I have a part time job to get to,” Hyunjin winced slightly at the look the elder gave him, “It’s not much. I just run the occasional evening service at a local restaurant and…”

“…it’s after seven pm, won’t your shift have started by now?” Chan cut in, gently as if he already knew the answer.

Hyunjin flushed and grabbed his phone, seeing several hundred messages with the final one being an confirmation of termination of his job. The omega groaned and let his shoulders drop. Though turned an confused expression around to Chan who had started to laugh. “Don’t worry about that place, they routinely hire as many suckers as they can from here and then fire them over the most stupid of things. Plus they don’t actually pay that well and they suck in general so it’s not worth getting upset over.”

Hyunjin blinked, “You worked for them?”

“Had to afford my equipment somehow,” Chan commented back, shrugging his shoulders, “Plus it was an nice little escape from this place too. I know a much better place that pays descent and will be more than grateful for the help and attention you’ll bring.”

The other omega lowered his head, “You mean my looks will…”

“Yes but the couple who run it are lovely and you’ll get plenty of take out to take home every shift that you work it,” Chan hurriedly cut in, remembering that this was the famous Hwang Hyunjin who had captured a lot of peoples attention but was apparently extremely sensitive about his looks because people tried to constantly use them in ways he didn’t want. “And if they really like you, they’ll smuggle in care packages as well which is a total godsend.”

Hyunjin flicked his eyes towards the other, “Do they still do it for you?”

Chan nodded, winking, “Doubly so now that I’ve got this little fluff ball.”

Hyunjin couldn’t help but chuckle at the pout that Jeongin gave out at that remark and stood upright. “I can get why.”

“Hyungie coming for food with Innie and Mama?” Jeongin begged, his eyes all wide and cute in that irresistible way that made it hard to refuse. “Though is everyone else coming too Mama?”

“Maybe,” Chan said, chuckling down at his adopted son, “I’ve sent messages but don’t know their full plans as of yet.”

“Fried chicken?” Jeongin asked, eyes as large as he could possibly get them to be in that moment.

An long exasperated sigh escaped from his mother, “What is your obsession with fried chicken?”

“It’s yummy!” Jeongin argued, knowing that he had already won the argument, “And I always eat it all up.”

“That is true,” Chan chuckled and turned back to Hyunjin, “Want to get some fried chicken with us?”

Hyunjin paused for a second, as if he were mulling it over when in fact he wasn’t. He was just wanting to wind Jeongin up for a few more seconds before he let out a dramatic sigh, “Sure, I’ll come along if I must.”

“Yay!” Jeongin cried, rushing forward to hug Hyunjin and then immediately beginning to tug him along so they could get the restaurant quicker. Even though they still had to get out of the building, head onto the bus and meet up with the others. But if there was one thing that was very well known around the JYP building, it was that Jeongin loved fried chicken and would do anything to get his little paws onto it.

And no one was ever going to deny the cub that.

Especially when Chan messaged the others and they all ended up in the same restaurant, at the same table, sharing a very fun meal together and having a laugh in the process. Jeongin looked particularly proud of himself for bringing the pretty dancer to their attention and knew that within the next couple of weeks he would be a permanent feature around the dorm. He didn’t say this out loud of course, because that could cause issues but it was going to be a great time.
Once Jisung and Hyunjin stopped bickering at one another.

Notes:

authors babbling: shorter update than normal but it ended nicely here and it means next time I get to have fun with Jisung and Hyunjin going on at each other which will be mega fun I think.

Notes:

Authors babbling: Okay, okay, I know I said I was kinda done with the My Little Fox/My Little Kitsune but I wanted to do a one shot of Chan and Innie meeting as it was so cute and fluffy in my head and so this has finally been completed.

But now, I kinda want to do more with it and have it be a sort of be an full prelude to MLF/MLK but an retelling of that where a certain ex-alpha gets kicked out by Changbin before he can do anything to hurt his omega and cub (cause it's bloody hot in my mind) but I'm not sure.

So going to ask three questions here and I hope you guys can help me out with them
1) Do you want this fluff pile to be continued on? Or just left as a one shot?
2) If yes, do I do it as a proper prequal with said ex-alpha in being all nice and then turning into a absolute little shit to lead into the main story
3) Or do I do it as a prequal where the ex never got involved and make this an slightly different story just with the same characters and more of the pack coming together around Chan and Innie (Minho would still be last to join and would remain a kitsune regardless, cause I love him like that)

Readers, it's over to you and I look forward to the responses.
