Chapter Text

Blackjack brought another one down.

Dave watched on, as Blackjack held on. He's very conscious, and very much dead… Or, it looked like it.

“This one is from waaaaay farther in the timeline.” He sadly looked at Jack, “Either He's like this, or completely lost his mind… Or, worse. Like him.”

Dave shivered at that. He knows that would've been his goal from the start. A way to bring him back. He swallowed, afraid of the outcome of this Jack.

Blackjack faded away, as Dave hesitantly touched him. Jack flinched, but didn't do much else but stare. Dave felt unease, as he realized how completely broken this Jack is. He wanted to hug him, but decided against it.

Silence.

“What… What does your Dave do?”

“Whatever he wants.” Jack answered, deadpan. “Nothing I can do…”

This Jack became like a doll to Dave.

He didn't like that. So, he knew what to do.

“Well.” Dave softly smiled, “This time it's your choice. What would you like to do?”

“... Whatever you want.” He answers, still deadpan.

“No.” Dave shook his head, “It's yer choice on what you want to do, Sportsy.”

Jack just looked up at Dave. His face still neutral.

Silence.

“... Cuddle.”

“Cuddle?”

“Cuddle.” Jack answered, softly. “Just. Cuddle.”

Dave sadly looked at Jack, before nodding. Jack looked confused, but he tensed himself. Ready to be grabbed. Only, he isn't. He looked back up at Dave, and he still had that sad look.

“Are ya sure that's what you want, Sportsy?”

“Yes.” He says, quietly, “Yes, that is what I want.”

Dave just looked away, obviously worried. Jack seemed more confused, before biting his lip.

“... Isn't that what you want?”

“Yes.” Dave answers truthfully, “But not unless I know you want it, Sportsy. I adore you the same, but that includes your… Consent.”

Jack seemed taken aback, before looking down.

“That's… Truly what I want, Dave…” He sadly says, “Listen. I've been with you for a long time, so I… Really don't know what I want right now. Maybe back then, I would've said freedom, or for you to release my siblings… But not right now. They escaped, and… Never came back.”

Dave seemed taken aback, before sadly looking down.

“I can give options.” Dave murmurs, “Like… Exploring this place, or…”

“No, I… Don't feel like anything right now.” Jack interrupted, sadly, “I just want to rest.”

“You can right now.” Dave answers softly, “Don't let me stop ya.”

“That's the thing.” Jack says, softly, “I… Want to actually cuddle before I can do that. There's no point in… Passing on without… How I got used to sleeping.”

Dave realized it's true. He sadly looked away.

“Okay.” He says, softly, “Just wanted to make sure that's truly what you wanted, Sportsy.”

Jack nodded, before tensing up. Expecting to be grabbed, only to open one eye to see Dave sitting down. Looking at him, sadly.

Jack teared up, as he walked up, and sat down next to Dave. Leaning on him. Dave hesitantly grabbed him, before leaning on him. Closing his eyes.

Silence.

He faded away, like usual, and Dave sighed. Blackjack brought down another one. This time. He was smiling.

“This one is around the same time as the last time line.” Blackjack says, frowning, “He snapped.”

“Oh.”

“All he knows is your love.” Blackjack shook his head, “This one is gonna be hard. Though, you've handled them before, right?”

“Right.” Dave murmured, eyeing the new Jack, who was still smiling. “I… Don't like that creepy smile.”

“Well, there's not much I can do about it.” Blackjack sighed, “Just make sure to explain the situation, and just get him to rest.”

“Alright. Alright.” Dave sighed, “Well… Let's see what I can do, then.”

With that, Blackjack flew back up. Left alone with a creepy looking Jack.

More silence.

“Hey, Sport.” Dave says, after a while, awkward, “Let's just… Move on in here.”

“Hi, Dave.” He says, after a while, “What are you up to?”

“Trying to… Put ya to rest, I guess.” Dave murmurs after a while, “What would ya like to do, before then?”

Jack thought about it, for a bit, before nodding.

“... Screw you.”

Dave was taken aback. “Pardon?”

“I… Guess I want you.” He snickers, “Isn't that what you want, Dave?”

Dave was flustered, before shaking his head.

“No.” He says, looking down, “No, I really don't.”

“Don't lie.” Jack walks closer, “You want me, right?”

Dave sputtered, before pushing Jack away.

“Aww, I'm hurt, Dave.” Jack playfully pouted, “C'mon, doesn't you normally want me at your core, Dave?”

His eyes widened, before shaking his head again. “Normally, but not… Now.”

“Not now?” He tilted his head, still smirking, “Awe. You still care about me, don't you? I wish I had a Dave like you, but no. I was unfortunate enough to get a Dave that didn't care about my consent… Took me anyways. Don't you want me to rest? You succeeded Dave… You have me.”

His eyes teared up, as Jack pushed Dave to the ground. He kneeled down, and crawled closer. Dave is literally shaking.

He shut his eyes tight. Expecting to be grabbed.

Only to hear growling.

He peeked, only to see Blackjack there. Floating on top of him, growling at Jack. Jack, looking very angry.

Just because your Dave didn't give a shit about your consent, doesn't mean you get to do the same to him.” Blackjack says, growling, “You're just as bad as him at this point.”

Jack flinched.

Normally, I let you choose what you want, and Dave fulfills them.” Blackjack says, softly, turning to Dave. “This time, I'm letting Dave choose. If you can't rest, then that's your problem.”

With that, he faded away. Dave and Jack looked at each other.

Silence.

“... All I want is a cuddle.” Dave murmurs, softly, “I… Do care about you, and want to do more, but not… Without yer consent, Sportsy.”

“You have it.” Jack murmurs, softly, frowning, “I don't get why you want to hold back.”

“I'm not like yer Dave.” He frowns, “I care about yer consent, and yer safety. What you want isn't what truly want, Sportsy. It's what yer Dave wants. I'm not him.”

Jack flinched again, before tearing up. Before crawling over to Dave. Hugging him. Practically sobbing.

Dave held on.

It took a while, but Jack sighed, and leaned on Dave. Grabbing his hand. Dave froze.

“Don't worry…” Jack murmured, softly, “I also just wanna hold your hand.”

Dave watched, as he eventually relaxed. “I like that too.”

Jack closed his eyes. “You know… I may not have a soul, but you trigger some in me. I don't know what. I just wanted to spend more time with you… Even before you took me, and all.”

Dave seemed taken aback.

“... I don't know.” He sighs, “I just… Wanted to spend more time with you. If it wasn't for the mission I was given, I would've.”

Dave looked down at his hand. Still holding Jack's. Jack sighed, again.

“... Just know that.” He murmurs, as he fades away. “I might've felt the same.”

Dave teared up. He cried again. Of course, of course Fredbear had to interfere. Of course…

But if it wasn't for Fredbear...

He never would've took interest in him.

He cried, and cried. He felt some on his lap. He looked down, to see a sad looking doggo on his lap.

More silence.

So, this truly was the only way we would've gotten to know each other.” Blackjack murmured, shaking his head, “I saw his fate a mile away. I just didn't expect my old vessel to find love. I'm kinda jealous...”

Dave sniffled, and looked away.

“How am I gonna live with that? Let alone rest? I… Can't.” He softly says, “I… Wish he never told me.”

I suppose he wanted you to suffer some more.” He sighed, “I don't think we would've taken interest in each other, if I was still alive. You kinda creeped me out.”

“You were just a man back then.” He sighs, “Plus, Henry was still alive. I-I don't think he'd allow me to date.”

Which is understandable.” Blackjack sighed, before looking up, “You're.... Still a good friend, Dave.”

He nodded, as he hugged the doggo.

Silence.

“I gotta bring more Jacks down.” He says, floating up, “Unless you want… A break.”

“A break?” Dave seemed taken aback, “I mean… I don't wanna face another Jack, after knowing… I could've had him from the start.”

“I mean, all the Jacks I bring down are broken.”

“That makes it worse!” Dave cried, “I don't like these timelines. If I had known beforehand, I wouldn't have done anything like this. These timelines were my fault!”

Blackjack watched on, sadly, before sitting down on the ground.

“We have all the time in the world right now.” He softly says, “Take your time, and I'll bring another Jack down when needed.”

With that, Dave sighed. Falling to his knees. Sobbing.

This may take a while.

But they have all the time in the world to put himself back together.

After what seemed like hours, Dave was ready for another Jack.

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.” He murmured, “It's basically my job now.”

“Okay.” With that, he floats up, now left alone.

Silence.

“I'm glad.” Dave murmurs, softly, “I'm glad. I'm glad. I'm happy to know that.”

He smiles. Relaxing.

He could rest right now, if he could.

Notes:

I might just end it here, idk.

Though, Dave is SO close to resting himself lmao.

Hopefully you enjoyed.
