Chapter Text

The sun shone lazily in the sky, spreading a warm golden glow over the vast mountains. A gentle breeze swept across the open field, making the wildflowers on the hillside rustle and carrying the sweet scent of pine and fresh air. The towering peaks, snow-capped at the highest points, stood proudly against the clear blue sky.

Crouched in a meadow on the mountainside, a couple sat together on a soft blanket, with a wicker basket open beside them, full of food. Weisz lay stretched out, resting on the blanket with his wings draped over his body, hands clasped behind his head, and eyes half-closed in complete relaxation. Next to him, Hermit sat cross-legged, a serene smile on her face as she gazed up at the clear sky.

But both their eyes were focused on a small figure flying above them, moving gracefully through the air with outstretched wings.

"Mama! Papa! Look!"

Ronya's voice, their daughter, rang out full of joy and excitement as she soared higher and higher, her brown wings catching the sunlight. Her carefree laughter echoed through the valley as she flew in wide circles, her blonde hair and purple dress fluttering in the wind.

"She’s getting better and better," commented the blonde, his voice full of pride as he watched their daughter glide effortlessly through the air. "Look at her go."

The azure-haired woman’s smile grew softer, her gaze following the girl as she performed another pirouette in the sky. "She’s free," she said quietly, her voice laced with a mix of awe and emotion. "She doesn’t know fear like I did. She flies without anything holding her back."

Weisz turned to look at her, reaching out to take her hand. "That’s because of you. You gave her the courage to be herself."

Hermit met his gaze, gently squeezing his hand. "You did too," she corrected softly. "We did it together."

The blonde smiled at her, leaning down to kiss her hand. He often marveled at how much they had overcome together, how they had gone from being two broken people, each with their own scars, to this moment. A family. A life filled with love and laughter that had echoed within their small circle for seven years now.

"Do you think she’ll come down today?" the blonde joked, glancing up at Ronya as she took another spin through the sky.

Hermit chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Only if she gets hungry. You know how much she loves to fly."

"I can’t blame her," Weisz replied with a smile. "If I weren’t getting on in years, I’d stay up there all day myself."

The little girl swooped down, grazing the tops of the wildflowers before quickly rising again with a clear, crystalline laugh. Her joy was contagious, her energy boundless, and the blonde couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of contentment as he watched her. This was everything he had ever wanted: a quiet life with the people he loved most.

After a few more minutes of flying, Ronya finally began to descend, her wings beating steadily as she landed gracefully a few steps from her parents. Her cheeks were flushed with excitement, her green eyes shining with happiness.

"Did you see??" she asked, running towards them. "I did three loops this time!"

Weisz chuckled, reaching out to ruffle her hair. "I saw, well done."

The blonde girl beamed, her wings twitching slightly as she sat down next to her mother, eyeing the basket of food eagerly. "Is it lunchtime?"

Hermit smiled, reaching into the basket to pull out sandwiches and fresh fruit. "It’s lunchtime," she confirmed, handing her a plate. "Flying works up an appetite, doesn’t it?"

Ronya nodded enthusiastically, already starting to eat. "Flying is the best thing in the world," she declared between bites. "When I grow up, I want to fly everywhere. Even higher than the mountains!"

Weisz chuckled, exchanging a glance with Hermit. "You’ll definitely do it," he said, winking at her. "You’ve got the wings for it, after all."

The azure-haired woman looked at their daughter with a loving smile, her heart swelling with affection. During her pregnancy and in the early days after Ronya’s birth, she had feared for her future. She had worried about what would happen to Ronya growing up with wings, about the fears and dangers that had haunted her own past. But seeing her now, free, happy, and confident, those worries had long since faded.

"You’ll fly as high as you want, I’m sure of it," she said softly, running a hand through the girl’s hair. "And we’ll always be here, watching you."

Ronya looked at her mother with a smile, nodding as she continued to eat, her wings fluttering slightly in excitement.

The blonde lay back on the blanket, gazing up at the sky, the peaceful sound of the wind and the distant rustling of the trees surrounding them. "This is perfect," he murmured, more to himself than to anyone else.

The azure-haired woman lay down beside him, resting her head on his shoulder as they both watched the clouds drift lazily across the sky. "It is," she agreed softly.

When Ronya finished eating and stood to stretch her wings, ready to take flight once again, Weisz and Hermit simply watched, their hearts full and their souls at peace.

Here, in the silence of the mountains, with their daughter flying freely above them, they had found everything they had ever wanted. A life full of love, freedom, and the joy of seeing Ronya embrace her wings and the endless sky above her.

And in that moment, as Ronya’s laughter echoed in the air, they knew that this was only the beginning of many more wonderful days to come.

Notes:

Author's Note:

"They can’t have kids canonically" BUT RONYA FROM GATE OF NIGHTMARES EXISTS, AND SHE IS THEIR PERFECT DAUGHTER. So to me, she’s their daughter lol.

And yes, I named the place "Eldmoor" after the book "Eldmoor: Origins of Blaze" by J.P. Feather (which I still need to finish reading part 1 but the name sounded cool here, lol)

I hope you liked this chapter, even though it’s an alternate universe different from what I usually do and with many more chapters than I usually publish! 🙏💞💕
