Chapter Text
Ray sat on the balcony just outside of Chatterbox and her shared bedroom, she had her eyes closed, feeling the rays from the warm spring sun hitting her skin, warming up her body. He was still asleep, liking to sleep in on the weekends, when they didn’t have much to do in the city or any other responsibilites. She could hear the birds chirping, enjoying the warmer weather finally. She knew she was enjoying it, she has always loved warm weather, spring being her favourite because of all the colour and the weather didn’t get agonisingly hot.
“Someone wanted to join” She was taken out of her thoughts at him standing in front of her, holding the 8 month old red Bearded Dragon, Toothless. He had been with them since he was 4 months old, crazy that it had been 4 months already. “He yuckin’ woke me up, scratching at the glass. His beard went black”
“Oh my poor baby, you’re okay now. I got you” Ray cradled him against her. He had become a sook, always wanting to spend time with either her or Chatterbox. He loved attention and being held.
Ray looks up at Chatterbox through her eyelashes and giggles at the face he makes an over the top shocked face.
“What about me?”
“I love you, but he was upset. Look at his lil face”
“Love you too, Cups”
Chatterbox sat on the matching green chair besides hers, still in their pyjamas. Toothless ran from Ray's chest, down her arm and to the armrest of the chair, staring straight at Chatterbox.
“Think he wants you”
“Why does he yuckin’ want me?”
“Because he loves you”
Chatterbox had denied his fondness for the animal, saying that if it was his choice they would have gotten a cat. Ray laughed every time he told anyone he didn’t want Toothless, she knew he loved having Toothless around, she found him carrying the beardie around, talking to him. Ray acted like she didn't see anything, because seeing those moments filled her heart with joy.
“You gonna grab him before he jumps?”
Toothless was on the edge of the chair now, he had made his way to the side of Ray's leg. He moved his body, looking around at how to get down from the chair the best way.
Chatterbox sighed and moved to crouching in front of her chair, placed his hands out flat for Toothless to walk straight onto. He tilted his head to the side, wondering why he wasn't allowed to jump down. Chatterbox moved back to his chair and placed him near his shoulder, where Toothless proceeded to crawl up and up all the way to the top of his maskless head, his claws digging into his hair.
“Yuckin’ really” Chatterbox screeched out.
Ray laughed “He just wants a better look at everything”
They sat out there for the next half an hour. Toothless still up on Chatterbox's head looking out at everything.
Ray stood up from her chair, as she was walking through the balcony door he called out to her “Where are you going?”
“It's a surprise”
“Are you going to take him with you?”
“Nope”
“Why yuckin’ not?”
“I'll be back soon Chatty, you'll be okay”
All hell broke loose just at the door closed behind her. Toothless scurried down his head fast, causing Chatterbox to panic, what if he got hurt?
“Yuckin’ serious, Toothless” Chatterbox grabbed the dragon as a flurry of red ran down his leg.
He heard the trees rustling and then the chirping of birds. “You yuckin’ got scared of some birds” Toothless moved to the warmth of Chatterbox neck, hoping to seek comfort from the scary birds. Chatterbox let out a laugh as he ran his gloveless hand down Toothless's back.
“Got you a coffee” Chatterbox looked up at her standing there holding 2 coffee cups, her radiant glow outlined her body. She was smiling a contagious smile that he loved so much.
“Thanks” She leaned down and captured his lips. He let out a small whine as her lips parted from his, she let out a breathy laugh, passing him the coffee mug.
“Now I want my baby” Ray whined as she sat back on her chair.
Chatterbox laughed and pried Toothless from his neck. “I think he wants me more”
“Gimme him”
Chatterbox passed him over to her and she instantly scooped him up into her arms, placing him onto her collarbone where he proceeded to dig into her neck, feeling her warmth. They both loved their slow weekends, where they could appreciate these little moments.
