Chapter Text
Ding dong! The doorbell rang at around lunchtime. Chu Xun and Lin Wan'er had come to pick up their children, who eagerly ran to the door. Oh, how relieved they were to see their parents as lovey-dovey as they usually are, stuck at the hip at all times they could. Looks like the plan went well!
“How did it go? Was the food good?” Chu Lan eagerly asked his dad, while Chu Wanning went to cling to his mother’s leg and give it a hug. Lin Wan'er lifted Chu Wanning and let Chu Wanning cling to her, like the momma’s boy that he is.
Chu Xun thought for a bit to make it seem like he’s trying to recall the night. A cool smile spreads across his face as he pinches Chu Lan’s nose making the kid giggle. In a light tone, he said: “Of course it did, worrywart. You both did a great job, now Mom’s not mad at me anymore.”
“Hello, Uncle Chu, Auntie Lin!” Ran-er greeted as he came after the twins. “Have they shown you the gift they made for you yet?”
Chu Xun and Lin Wan'er looked surprised. “No, not yet, actually.”
“Oh right, that!” Chu Lan exclaimed before running back in like a whirlwind. “I’ll go get it, hehe!” He called back.
“You made something for us?” Lin Wan'er asked Chu Wanning to which Chu Wanning nodded.
Led by Ran-er, the family settled into the living room. Auntie Duan was back, but she’s sleeping in the room so it was Auntie Xun who ended up greeting them and giving them some snacks and food. With how often Xun Fengruo was in the Duan household, one would think that she already lives here. She didn’t seem to mind though, apparently a lot of things happened and she’s just glad she has Ran-er and Duan Yihan by her side.
“I’m back!!” Chu Lan came running back from Ran-er’s room. Holding something behind his back, Chu Lan gave a toothy grin before showing what he and Chu Wanning made.
Chu Wanning’s greeting card was quite simple, it had salutations congratulating Chu Xun and Lin Wan'er on a happy anniversary, and well-drawn figures of the family of four. While Chu Lan just drew Chu Xun and Lin Wan'er making kissy faces—to which Chu Xun’s ears turned red once again.
“A-Lan, Ningning, what do you think of having a little sister?” Lin Wan'er asked, intending to tease Chu Xun whose ears are already a tomato red.
Indeed–- all was well in the Chu Family.
