Skye stood at the edge of the plane, watching the clouds roll by as the team moved around her, preparing for their next mission. It had been a few weeks since her conversations with each of them, and while things hadn’t returned to normal, there was a sense that, perhaps, they were starting to heal. The tension in the air had eased slightly, replaced with the cautious optimism of a team that had been through something difficult but was willing to move forward.
She still had a lot to prove, and the road ahead wasn’t going to be easy. But Skye had come to understand that it wasn’t about erasing her mistakes—it was about learning from them, growing, and earning back the trust she had so carelessly thrown away.
As the team gathered, ready for the next step in their mission, Skye looked around at her teammates. They were no longer just her colleagues—they were her family, the people she had come to rely on, the people who had stuck by her even when she had let them down. They didn’t owe her forgiveness. They didn’t owe her anything. But they were giving her a chance.
And that, she realized, was all she needed.
“I’m ready,” she said softly, to no one in particular. And for the first time in a long while, she believed it.
