The Last Happy Memories Of Christmas:

Chapter 2: Cookies For Santa:

Summary:

Nile gets a Christmas gift from someone.

Chapter Text

When Nile came into the living room the next morning, Nicky was lying on the sofa in Joe's arms, sleeping. Nile could tell by the dirt on the men's clothes they had been rolling around on the ground.

Booker: "If you want to sleep at night, don't ask what they have been doing."

Nile nodded.

Nile: "I'm going to take a shower. Do you mind making some coffee?"

Booker: "Sure thing. Strong as always?"

Nile: "Yes, please."

When Nile came into the kitchen, she found a big Christmas gift on the table. The Christmas gift was wrapped in a bit too big piece of paper, and there was used an entire roll of sticky tape.

Booker: "That gift isn't from me since we both know I'm the best in the world to wrap gifts."

Nile resisted saying something, and instead, she read the gift tag before she smiled.

Booker: "Well, don't just stand there. Open the gift."

Nile: "Is it my gift or your gift?"

Booker: "Your gift."

Nile: "Glad we agreed."

If you asked Booker, Nile was taking ages to unwrap the Christmas gift.

Booker: "So, what did Santa bring you?"

Nile: "Thanks for trying."

Booker: "What are you talking about?"

Nile: "Trying to pretend that you don't have any interest in Christmas. It's something a father would do. And it's a good gift you have, Sebastien. Never forget that."

Booker just nodded. He was still getting used to all the praise Nile was giving him.

Nile: "And if you want to know what Santa gave me..."

Nile showed Booker the cookies. Some were crushed, while others were mostly whole. Nile smiled over the Christmas gift.

Booker: "Better find a plate for them before Santa is here."

Nile: "Yes, you are right."

After finding a plate, Nile left. Booker took the gift tag, and after reading it, he knew Nile had gotten an excuse for what had happened the previous night.
