Chapter Text
His pretty face is so close to you, you think about leaning in a bit closer for a moment but you don't. You're not the type of person who kisses strangers in people's pantries at parties. Then why did you want to be that kind of person right now? With his hand still on your waist, both of you know there's no need for this sort of closeness you share anymore but neither of you pull away. You feel his hot breath against your face. He feels your heartbeat against his chest and maybe, you think, this one time you could be that person who kisses strangers in pantries at parties.
"I'd let you take me home by the way," you whisper. "I don't think it's weird. At least not if it's you."
His heart almost jumps out of his throat. While his mind is telling him to do the sensible thing, which is to let go of your waist, his body doesn't move the way he wants it to. With flushed cheeks, hidden in the dark, he instead reaches his other hand up to your face like he's under a spell, enchanted by you. Never in a million years did he think he'd find himself acting like this in his best friends pantry with a total stranger. It's so unlike him. But none of that matters when all his focus is on the feeling of your body against his, your breath grazing his neck. His better judgement is clouded by the desire to just pull you into a kiss right then and there.
"Yeah?" He whispers back, his hot breath tickling your face. "What else would you let me do?"
The little bit of common sense left in you disappears completely in that moment and in your head his hands are already tangled up in your hair.
"Anything you want," you answer and take in a sharp breath. Did those words really just leave your mouth? Out loud? You must be going crazy.
"Anything I want, huh? So.." he clears his throat. "What if I wanted to kiss you?"
"Didn't I just say anything you want?" Although you didn't expect him to ask first, you're pleasently surprised and your answer shoots out immediatly as if you'd been waiting for this moment.
His thumb on your cheek gently brushes your skin and you close your eyes, engulfed in the feeling of his touch and waiting in anticipation for his lips next. And then they land on yours, right where you want them. Despite having expected it, nothing could have prepared you for how it would actually feel when all that suddenly mattered to you was the connection you shared in that moment. All the anxieties and embarassement of the night you felt before were forgotten and burried as your hand reaches up to his head, your fingers caressing through his dark hair. Your heartbeat matches the beat of the music, blasting in a dull sound through the walls.
"I can't believe I did that," is the first things that slips out of your mouth, when you part and your gaze casts downward as you're trying to understand what must've gone through your mind for you to act this way. "What the hell," you whisper in disbelief. Your slightly panicky tone makes him chuckle amusedly and you turn your gaze back to him.
"What happened to all that confidence just now?" He asks with a slight amusement but before you can answer the door to the pantry squeeks open and in a split second two things go through your mind. One is that you're thankful for the distraction at the door as you had no answer to counter his question and the second one is that you're still pressed up against the guy you just kissed in secret inside a pantry. A guy you're not even dating. A stranger in fact. Instinctively both of you pull away from each other the second the door opens with you taking a step back and Bokuto, the star of the night, walks in. The light from the hallway shines into the small room and you both realize you would've had a better chance at hiding if you hadn't pulled away but it's too late for such regrets now. Bokuto, standing in the middle of the room with his phone's flashlight looks at you and then at Akaashi leaning in the nook. His mouth is slightly parted as he tries to make sense of the situation but before he can ask any questions Akaashi walks out of the nook, his flushed cheeks now revealed in the dim light from the corridor, and says in the most casual tone, "Bokuto-san. You should get that light fixed. It's impossible to find anything in here in the dark."
Bewildered you stare at him and wonder how he can act so cool about this situation meanwhile your heart feels like it's about to jump out of your chest, but he just gives you a little smile and says, "shall we then?"
It takes you a moment to understand that he's refering to driving you home and your eyes widen when you realize he really meant it. You quickly nod and rush past Bokuto, not daring to look at him as you do, and walk out into the corridor, the two guys following right after you.
"I actually came to check for the light because Konoha told me it didn't work but uh- did I interrupt something?" Bokuto looks at his friend and then at you. You both know he knows you're hiding something, he's not stupid, but with no proof he can only guess.
"Not at all," Keiji speaks again and you're glad he seems to have no trouble doing all the talking. "I think I had a spare light bulb at home. I'll pick it up after driving y/n home and fix it for you if you want."
"Oh, you're leaving already??" Bokuto asks with a dissapointed voice. You finally look at him and give him an apologetic awkward smile.
"Yeah, and uhm- could you please tell Osamu and Atsumu that I'll be going? Don't want them looking for me later."
Bokuto returns your smile but his doesn't looks awkward at all and you envy him a little for it. He gives you a thumbs up and says, "Leave it to me! Akaashi, I'll see you later!"
Akaashi nods and takes your wrist to pull you away, through the partying crowd that's impossible to avoid and out of his friend's house. Both of you take a deep breath as soon as the cold hits your skin at the front door, filling your lungs with the fresh night air, and still, he doesn't let go of your wrist and you don't pull away either.
