Chapter Text

Ivy couldn't believe this was happening. That was who she had ran into, the Jayce Talis. He had been the talk of the campus for weeks since they had broken into Himerdinger's lab. And she hadn't even known and now she had to see him tomorrow. She placed her face in her hands as she sat on the edge of her bed.

She was just going to have to push though it, it was all for her research and it was worth it.

She spent the rest of the evening going over the research, filling in a pice of paper work to do with one of the labs and then had an early night. She woke up at seven to the sound of more rain. She walked over to the mirror and looked at the dark bags under her eyes, a steep contrast to her pale skin. She quickly brushed her long chocolate brown curly hair and put it into a plait going down her back. She put on a polar neck top, a patterned skirt and threw on her boots and coat.

She picked up what she thought she would need including Jayce's book that she had picked up the day before. She couldn't believe how he had his name on every page of notes, he had to be the most egotistical, stuck up man in existence.

She looked down at the small piece of paper that she had written the number on as she walked through the halls, her footsteps echoing through the empty hall rooms. It was finally after walking up several sets of stairs and getting lost once that she stood facing the door. She was just about to knock the door when it opened and she was stood face to face with Jayce Talis.

"Oh it's you." He said, placing his hand on the back of his neck. "We were just about to come looking for you."

"No Jayce, that was just you." An accented voice from inside the room shouted.

"Did you find the room okay." Jayce asked.

"Yes I found it fine, the stairs on the other hand were a bit of a workout." She looked up to notice he was, staring at her a bit.

"Wait, didn't I bump into you yesterday."

"Umm yeah you did actually. I have one of your books, you must have handed it to me by accident."

"Well umm do you want to come in."

"Well yes I would seeing as I will be working here with you the next few months." She smirked as he stood out of the way, shutting the door behind him.

"Jayce did you seriously just ask her that, you are being really dumb today."

She chuckled at what she assumed his partner said. She took a step into the room and turned to the right, it was a large room, plenty of room for her to work alone, without them hassling her. There was a large curved desk with multiple stools dotted around, in front and an even larger window, there were two small sofas dotted around at the back, lots of shelves, and more worktops in the corner. A man stood up from the table by the window, he was quite tall and of a slim build, and as he stood up he leant on a cane. "So you are our new medical specialist." He said.

"Yes that's me." She smiled. As he did she immediately noticed his eyes, they were so unusual, probably the most beautiful eyes she had seen, they were almost gold.

"I'm Viktor." He introduced himself.

"Nice place you have here." She said as she walked around.

"I'm sure it's not as nice as the labs biomedical centre." Jayce smiled as he walked in.

"Actually it is far far nicer, anything to do with 'that' kind of science gets no funding at all so that's why I'm here with you."

"Oh I didn't know." He replied as he sat down on top of the curved workbench.

"It's not your fault, you wouldn't know, it's those people high up on the council."

"Ah we know the type, Viktor and I have had some issues with them in the past." Viktor gave him a knowing look.

"Anyway, what do you have planned for me then?" Ivy said as she crossed her arms over her chest and sat down on one of the stools.

Viktor moved to the desk and picked up a pice of paper. "We need to pass all of these tests, if we want the council to consider backing Hextech."

He handed her the paper and it was then that she realised that it was multiple pages of lists of tests. She scanned through the first page, effects on human cell, effects on human mitochondria, effects on human nucleus...and more. She flicked to the next page where she was met with tests for other sentient species. She flicked a few more pages and glimpsed tests on human lymphatic system, nervous system, cardiovascular system. She had never seen an experiment with so many tests needed to be done on it.

"Why are there so many, this is more than I have ever seen before."

Jayce moved his had to his neck, as if he were slightly embarrassed. "Let's just say some people in the council have issues with it."

She raised her eyebrows at his response. "Well this is going to take months to sort, and I hope you have volunteers to actually test this stuff on, getting volunteers will take enough time on its own."

"We have every volunteer we will need right here." Jayce grinned and Viktor could only roll his eyes in response.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

Viktor responded. "We couldn't get any volunteers, not one person wanted to do it, I think it's because of the explosion before we refined it. So Jayce has decided you will run the tests on him."

"You can't do that, what if something goes wrong."

"Jayce is too egotistical to believe his science will fail." Viktor smirked as he looked at him.

"Viktor, I am not that bad."

"Yes you are. Anyway that is the plan."

"This is crazy." She responded, not really knowing what else to say.

"Well so are we." Jayce grinned.
