Chapter Text
May’s heart stops.
There is so much blood.
Oh my gosh.
Daisy is tilted against the shower wall, eyes closed, body hanging limb. And there is so much blood, it's all over the floor and all over her arms. It takes a minute before May can comprehend the sight before her.
“Daisy?” May cries out. She doesn’t know what to do. She bends down beside Daisy and shakes her shoulders. “Daisy!” she shouts, her voice breaking. She checks for a pulse, slightly relieved when she feels something weak pulsating.
May’s instincts take over and she scoops up the young woman and quickly carries her out of the bathroom. Tears stream down her face as she hurries over to the lab with the unconscious girl. She reaches the lab, pushes the door open with her back, and starts to shout after Simmons.
"Simmons!" Simmons!” May Shouts until her gaze finds the girl hovering over some project. As Simmons turns to look at May her heart drops. There is a brief moment when Jemma just stares at Daisy hanging from May's arms before she hurries over to them.
“What happened?” She asks, her voice filled with panic.
“I found her in her bathroom, there was blood all over the floor. Her pulse is weak.” May slurs out in a haste as she follows Simmons to the med bay.

May sits and stares at the pale girl in the bed. She seems so small. So fragile. How could May have missed this? She noticed the girl had been a bit off lately, but everyone has those periods now and then. Why didn’t she just try to talk to her more?
May reaches out to stroke a strand of Daisy’s hair away from her pale face. And suddenly May can't hold it in any longer, tears start rolling down her cheeks. Quiet sobs push through her body. Daisy had tried to kill herself—her Daisy—the girl who had grown to be like a daughter to May. And May didn’t notice how badly she had been hurting. May buries her face in her hands and lets herself cry out.
Suddenly may feels a hand on her shoulder. “She’s going to be fine, May. She’s okay.” Coulson says softly.
“I know that. I just- How didn’t we notice?” May says looking at Daisy.
“She's very good at hiding, you know that May. With her childhood, you become an expert at building walls and playing pretend. Don’t blame yourself.” He comforted her, drawing slow circles on her back.
--------------------------------------------------
May’s heart broke when Daisy opened up to her. She wanted to wrap her arms around the girl and never let go. Daisy had just been a child. May could never understand how anybody could be so cruel. Maybe that’s why she was up at three in the morning, with her computer and a cup of green tea trying to find out what had happened to that man. Staring at the computer in front of her, May becomes nauseous. eight years ago Tim Richardsson had been charged with multiple rape charges, mostly against young girls. Luckily he was locked behind bars for a long time. But to know that Daisy wasn't the only girl he had violated fills May with rage. The time he’s serving will never make up for all those girls whose lives he ruined.
May jumps at the sound of footsteps approaching. May snaps her head in the direction of the sound to see Daisy standing in the doorway to the kitchen.
“Oh.” Daisy says shortly as she catches eyes with May. “You’re up late.”
“You too. What’s up?” May asks.
“Can’t sleep, that’s all.” Daisy says shortly as she walks over to the fridge. Taking out a cheese stick she goes over and sits down across from May.
“Wanna talk about it?” May asks, looking at Daisy with soft eyes.
“Oh, it’s not like that. I just failed to fall asleep. I’ve been trying for an hour now.” She said before taking a bite of her cheese. “ And you. Why are you up?”
“I found him. He’s locked up. And he’s not getting out anytime soon.” May says abruptly without much context. But Daisy understands.
“Oh.” Is all Daisy managed to say.
“I know it’s not much but I thought it might bring you comfort to know he can’t find new victims anymore,” May says, not knowing what more to add. She closes her computer and drinks the last sip of her tea. “I think it’s time for me to go to sleep.” May stands up and takes her computer with her.
“Im sorry.” Daisy quickly utters.
May turns around to look at the girl, she suddenly seems so small, sitting there at the kitchen table with her cheese. “For what?”
“For putting you guys through all this. I really didn’t mean it.” Daisy says, looking down.
“Daisy. You have nothing to be sorry for! We should be sorry for not seeing your hurt!”
“I’m good at hiding it.”
“I know.” May says, sighing. For a moment the room falls quiet, May stares at the girl and wishes she could just make everything alright again. “Daisy we love you so much, you know that right?”
“I know.” Daisy says quietly.
“Goodnight Daisy. I’m always here for you if you need to talk, you know that.” May says as she makes her way to her room.
“I love you too, May. Goodnight.”
