Chapter Text
Lots happened after that night. With Vacher arrested, Navia and her family were finally free.
In no time at all, Spina di Rosula was back on its feet, and Navia's family finally had the time and resources to fix their estate.
With Spina di Rosula's help, the royals were able to flush out the last of the Sinthe hiding around Fontaine and arrest them. Without Columbina's help, they had no choice but to surrender to the queen.
But once it was all over, Navia was finally able to meet with Neuvillette more often, and they could do so without having to hide it anymore.
Naturally, her stepsiblings were happy to see her alive and well once they heard the full story, though Lynette called Navia an idiot for her decision to kill herself in order to stop herself.
“You're an idiot, Sister...” She had said.
But once things had finally calmed down, Navia one day received a letter inviting her to the Palais Mermonia from Neuvillette.
So after dinner, the two took a stroll around the gardens. By then, Navia's appearance had changed drastically.
The scars and callouses on her skin had long healed, and her hair was curled and beautiful once more. But what Neuvillette noticed most was Navia's smile. She no longer looked like a lost child in the wilderness, and now anyone could tell she was beautiful, both inside and out.
But he knew this from the beginning, which is why he had invited her over.
“Normally, we meet up outside the palace so we can do other activities. Why'd you invite me over?” Navia asked as they walked.
“Because I wanted to be alone with you.” Neuvillette answered. “There's something I wish to ask you, Navia.”
“Well, if it's about why I chose to try to kill myself during the ball, that should be obvious.” Navia said.
Neuvillette shook his head. “No, that ship has sailed. This is... Much more personal.”
“Huh?”
That's when Navia noticed their siblings spying on them from the window nearby, as if they were trying to cheer Neuvillette on.
“What are our siblings doing...? And wait, when did Lyney and the others get here?”
Neuvillette rolled his eyes with a smirk. “It was Furina's idea. Anyway, the question goes something like this...”
He sat her down on a bench and pulled something out of his pocket.
To her surprise, he bent down on one knee and opened the tiny box he had pulled out, taking Navia's hand. Navia gasped.
“Neuvillette, what are you...?”
“Navia, I have loved you since the beginning. I can think of no one more suited for the title of queen than you. So... Will you please do the honor of marrying me?”
Navia blushed a bright red, covering her mouth with her free hand. “Neuvillette...! I...!”
“It's a simple question. Yes, or no?”
“You should know the answer to this! Yes! For the rest of my life!”
She pounced on him in a hug, embracing him as tight as possible. “Thank you so much...!”
He returned it, happy to see her so filled with joy. “You deserve to be happy... And I'll do whatever I can to ensure that you stay that way.”
“Having you at my side already makes me feel like I can power through anything.” She managed.
Inside the castle, Furina and Navia's stepsiblings were celebrating.
“She said yes! I knew she would!” Lyney cheered.
Furina clapped her hands with joy. “Heehee! Come on, let's go tell Mother!”
---------------------------------------------------
News of the marriage spread all throughout the kingdom, thanks to the Spina di Rosula's connections.
Clementine was especially happy, now that her daughter could have the happy life she deserved. After years of suffering, she felt Navia deserved this new life.
The wedding itself was a grand occasion, and Furina made sure that Navia wore the prettiest wedding dress designed by the best tailor in the kingdom.
Of course, after the ceremony, the two went outside to greet the people, who were overjoyed at this occasion. Even though living in the palace meant that Navia couldn't be around her stepsiblings as much as she used to, she made sure to visit them as much as possible.
No one would've guessed that the couple spent their honeymoon at the Caspar estate. Staying with Navia's family, Neuvillette felt as if he'd gained a second family.
“Navia, since you're married to a prince, doesn't that make you a princess?” Freminet asked.
Navia blinked. “I guess so.”
Lyney grinned. “If Navia's a princess and we're her siblings, that makes us royals too, don't you think?”
“Hahaha! I like to think so!” Navia laughed out loud.
Neuvillette smiled at this. He was happy to see Navia smiling and laughing so much.
And seeing her happy was all he needed. In the end, they both brought back the light that each needed.
He couldn't have been happier.
Several decades later, the two finally took Focalors' place as rulers of Fontaine. Long and happy was their reign, and tales of their meeting spread across the kingdom and beyond.
The people would say that despite the dark times the two faced, they became each other's miracle.
