Chapter Text
"TOYAAAAAA what took you so long? I think some guys started making bets on if you'd show up!"
Otoya heard what he was pretty sure was Aiku's voice from somewhere between the now moving crowd of people. Sure enough there heterochromia was pushing his way through people with not a damn care. The crowd was a lot bigger than Otoya was expecting, sure he knew it'd be more than the typical dorm party but he really wasn't expecting a mob of faces he'd never seen. Not like it bothered him, just meant a bigger selection of women to score, which was his goal tonight.
"Oliver my guy, I'm not even that late! Even then it's fashionably so can't have the girls thinking I'm a no life here early" The word about the party was get there around 8, Reo told him personally nobody fun would really get there til 9, so of course it was now pushing half past 10 as Otoya made his way in. Otoya was now face to face with Aiku locking eyes with the cup in his hand before his actual face. "Right, like you have a life and aren't typically at parties first sure man, Drinks are somewhere back through that mess if you fight through it." Aiku motioned behind him towards the swarm of people. Otoya looked past him at collection of people grinding on each other and sucking face deciding to not fight that battle yet.
"Yeah but I've gotta step up my game! You're off the market which means more chicks for me, plus I just got off the Mikage party blacklist half these girls don't know me" Technically a lie, he was off the blacklist a party ago but was told he'd have to stay sober to prove his 'changed ways' which was not a party at all. He was originally black listed for hooking up with a girl in Reo's master bathroom, which everyone knew was hard off limits. You live and you learn, being conditioned to sophomore year of purely dorm parties after the awakening that was his freshman second semester of Mikage parties was torture. He thought his punishment was cruel considering they were caught before he actually got any real play. "Maybe I should get a megaphone and announce the residential home-wrecker is in the house then, let them know who you are!" That and Aiku's loud ass laugh were his cue to go find a drink. He waved Oliver off shouting back a "Real funny like 2 months ago you weren't the same!!!" pushing past him into the mob of people. It was mindless squeezing between people and kindly nudging them out the way while scouting out girls. Nobody really sticking out til he saw beautiful long red hair following it up from around this girls waist, to her shoulders, to that's a guy wow. Actually getting a better look at said guys face, it was the same one he mistook as a chick last year, Chigiri Hyouma. Diverting his eyes almost as fast as he could without whiplash he finally saw the heavens gates glowing past the crowd, a table with mysterious ass red punch and sprawled about miscellaneous bottles.
"Well look who finally decided to show his face, After you skipped the last one I thought you weren't showing to this party either Eita!" Otoya followed the voice up from the table to lock eyes with, who else would be responsible for making sure nobody was roofied, Yukimiya. "Don't tell me you made any bets, Aiku said some guys did and I won't pay you back if you did!!" He laughed snatching the empty cup Yukimiya had just picked up for himself out of his hands. Dipping practically half the cup into the bowl of whatever Reo, and probably Nagi, decided to throw into what smelt like Kool-Aid. "I didn't but I should have you pay me for taking that, That's gross Eita theres a whole spoon to avoid people doing that." Otoya could hear the look of disgust on Yukimiya's face. Not bothering to fact check that he brought the cup straight up to his mouth tossing his head back downing whatever he managed to get in it. Definitely Kool-Aid, or some rich kid version, didn't matter it was all the same fruit-punch flavor to mask the burn of liquor. Which with the itch at the back of his throat, It clearly wasn't doing its job well. That was the thing he forgot about these parties, Reo was never one to provide cheap alcohol. "That's a whole extra step, hard pass Kenyu." Otoya doesn't bother to look at Yukimiya while he responds instead turning his head to figure out where music was coming from. It was good music and not crunchy static sounding which meant Reo let another one of the starter bands from their art-college play.
"Yo who's playing tonight? This isn't half bad." He only turned slightly back to ask as he had finally found the source of music, Small group of guys Otoya didn't really recognize at all besides the guy on drums. Shidou Ryusei, total nut job, no shocker he was pinned up here in a band as any time Otoya heard anything about him he was always doing something. They were a slightly larger group than what Reo normally allows, looked like at least 5 guys, all of which had the same general aesthetic. Otoya supposed it added up, he wasn't big in the know with aesthetics and what not but the sound of the music and the look of these guys all gave all the similar emo-punk vibe. They all had the same t-shirts on, Otoya thought it was sort of corny but at least they weren't ugly, just a crow and some name he couldn't read this far away. He was still awaiting his reply from Yukimiya on who was playing turning back to get one he realized Yukimiya had in fact walked off and left him there. Ok rude, What had Otoya ever done to him, besides steal his cup and bother him for the last couple of years and possibly break a few things in his dorm once and, ok yeah no maybe he had done a few things. Whatever, nothing a shot and going to pretend he knew all about this music to get with emo chicks couldn't fix.
A shot might've been an understatement. Somewhere along the line one turned to two, then two turned to have I already hit on this girl yet I don't really remember...? Otoya had followed his plan of drink and find a cute emo girl with chunky highlights to hit on, so here he was way too close to the band playing to hear this girl. Well, he might've been able to hear her if he was actually paying any attention. He wasn't, obviously, his body was facing her while his head was facing the band. Last he remembered hearing from her was... something about how she liked that he was so into this music. He wasn't, he'd never heard anything like this before actually his playlist was just a shared Spotify account with Yukimiya, so anything he listened to was just Kenyu's playlist. None of the songs on there sounded anything like this even in the slightest, not that he hated it, or the people in-front of him playing it. He half heartedly nodded along at whatever she was saying, poor girl honestly she seemed far too into Eita than what most considered humanly possible, maybe it was the alcohol. You know if Otoya could give a Mikage party any credit, it'd be he always manages to make a statement that it's his party. This time around that meant all too purple lighting, which was doing the girl he's supposed to be flirting with way less favors than the guy singing ahead of him.
Genuinely, was it the lighting or was this guys hair purple? The colors were really throwing him off, maybe he shouldn't be so focused on this. Now that he was closer up he realized he in fact knew two of the guys playing, Shidou Ryusei and Barou Shouei, the latter he knew semi-personally. He had also attended the same high school as Eita and Kenyu, they'd been on the same soccer team. Otoya couldn't say he was given the vibe Barou would end up in a band but he didn't know him well enough to say otherwise. Not that he seemed all that important of a role here anyway, he wasn't playing anything he was actually kind of in the back ground physically and vocally. The three he didn't recognize here was the main singer, who he still wasn't sure if he had purple hair, and the two on bass and guitar, despite the light clearly having blonde to pink and blonde to blue hair. Otoya had half the mind to laugh at that choice though he couldn't talk with one streak of green in his hair, and the other clearly more prominent half to stare at the singer. He'd had ridiculously gelled hair, which Otoya finally settled on being purple but extra purple in the light. Just as Otoya moved on from the hair debate and began to drag his eyes down to this guys face he was interrupted by the girl he honestly forgot he was talking to. "He's cute isn't he?" She giggled motioning towards the guy Otoya was clearly staring at before. Cute? No, Otoya Eita did not find guys cute, of course not, he wasn't gay. He had no idea where she had gotten the idea that he was, obviously she assumed he was or she wouldn't have said that? Right?
"I guess if you think so, but I don't swing that way." There was no bite behind his words, he didn't have a problem with gay people, clearly considering his group of friends. He was just taken aback, where would she have gotten the idea that he was gay. Nothing about Otoya Eita was gay, besides maybe joke flirting with Yukimiya in an attempt to persuade him into doing something, but Otoya could say with confidence that he was completely straight. "What? No way, I could've sworn... guess not.. I'm usually right about these things my bad!" She was eyeing between him and the singer questioningly. Had she thought Otoya was into that guy? He was only staring to figure out what the deal was with the lights, nothing else, he didn't swing that way. He shook his head in some attempt to quit focusing on that guy, turning back to face this girl. "Nahhh, Sorry guess your radar is off, Never been a fan of guys"
"Ha! Guess my gaydar is broken then, Wait, Oh shit! I didn't give you the wrong idea did I? I do swing that way, I thought you were being friendly cuz ya-know... both gay.. but if you aren't.." She was avoiding looking at him now, probably embarrassed which Otoya supposed he should be too considering he did think they were flirting. Which to his credit it was embarrassing but not the first time it'd happened, probably only the third though. That's just what happens when you flirt with every girl you've ever met, you run into the kind that don't like guys, bound to happen at an arts college. "It's cool, I mean, I did think we were flirting, but it's not a problem." Not really a need to get butt hurt about it, he barely even remembered their conversation, hell he barely noticed as she awkwardly laughed and walked off. He was too busy turning back to the band playing as the song changed. Otoya wondered what time it was, the crowd seemed less heavy than when he arrived, he liked to clear out before everything died down so he didn't get roped into helping clean up. He should probably check his phone but this new song playing seemed a lot more his vibe than before, it was good and the singer looked good playing it. Not in a gay way, just like, he seemed more into it, like this was his song, totally something like that, of course, Otoya wasn't gay.
His hand was in his pocket just about to look down as he pulled his phone out to check the time when his eyes caught something more interesting than the time. As the guy was singing the light had bounced off something silver in his mouth, which Otoya's drunken hazed mind clearly needed to figure out what it was. He was clearly staring directly at this guys lips moving waiting to see that shine again. He slightly registered how questionable that looked, even though nobody had a reason to be watching him. That didn't matter though he didn't need to be considered gay anymore tonight so obviously the logical thing to do was scan the rest of this guys face instead. He had sharp eyes, and a mole underneath the right one like some kind of girls beauty mark, then he saw something shine again. Though rather than his eyes shooting down to the form source of light, they shot up to above his eye with the beauty mark, he had an eyebrow piercing. Otoya wasn't a stranger to piercings, he had his ears pierced in high school, given it was due to a lost bet, that still meant he had some insight to them. He'd seen eyebrow piercings before, they weren't anything special, so how come this guy looked so different with one. It fit his face to well, in a way that made Otoya want to take a picture and keep it on his wall. Which Otoya quickly excused with the fact he's in college for photography and that's why not because he was gay, totally ignoring the fact his form of photography had nothing to do with people. He only brought himself to look away from this guys eyes back to his original point of focus when purple hair started to face his direction. He didn't want to meet this guys eyes in any scenario as he wasn't nearly sober enough to explain his need to stare.
As if being caught staring at this guys mouth was any better, he should really check the time and probably bounce, he told Hiori he'd be home tonight. That plan fled his brain faster than he could process as his sight settled on the same silver jewelry he'd previously seen above this guys eyes in his mouth, specifically set on his tongue. Holy shit this guy had a tongue piercing and it was hot. The idea!! The idea of a tongue piercing was hot!! Not this guy!! Definitely not, Otoya was not gay!!! Clearly the alcohol was affecting him, he really needed to leave. Though it wouldn't hurt to look back up would it? One last straight man glance at this guys face before he bolted? Clearly it would hurt, it would hurt a lot as the minute he pulled his vision from the guys mouth up to his eyes, he was staring back. He was staring back, still singing, but with an eyebrow up and half a cocky smirk. The kind of smirk he'd seen Reo use to flirt with his boyfriend, the 'this guys been staring at my mouth in a homosexual way' kind of smirk. It was definitely time to go, he had made zero plans to flirt with a guy at this party. As he forced his feet to turn and right before his body followed that motion he swore he saw that guys face change. How did it change, it didn't seem to change, no something totally moved and now he couldn't make himself walk off and the song seemed to be ending. These weren't great conditions for a guy trying to escape an awkward situation.
Did this guy just wink at me..?
