Chapter Text
suguru, yu, nanami, shoko and utahime all decided to carpool. suguru was in the passenger seat with yu driving. nanami was in the back with the girls. it was about 11PM when they left so it was dark outside. suguru stared out of the window at the city lights shining. shoko smirked and teased him. “so suguru~ you glad she’s finally here?” suguru looked back and looked at her with a glare, trying to act innocent. “i have no clue what you’re talking about.” shoko snickered and retorted. “don’t act dumb, when satoru was showing you pictures of her you used to call her hot all the time!” suguru huffed and turned back to look outside, trying to focus all his attention on the building passing by instead of shokos relentless teasing.
in actuality, he did say those things. you were attractive, very, in his eyes. a small girl yet confident. smart witted and ambitious despite not having the best home life. of course, he only knew that because satoru told him. satoru didn’t tell him any details though, just that your parents were shitty and he had been looking after you before his family moved to tokyo a few years back. “yeah, well that was before i knew she was moving here.” suguru replied, trying to get shoko off his back so he could have a relaxing car ride home. “still doesn’t change the fact you said it~” ieiri mocked. suguru huffed once more and glares at her. “so what if i said it, what’s the big deal?” he tried to downplay it like he wasn’t saying things like ‘i would’ to satoru two weeks prior to you moving in. shoko laughed hysterically and hit the back of his seat. “you’re so whipped and you just met her.” suguru scowled at her and corrected her quickly. “i am not whipped. i just met her!”
they argued for a while about what suguru said and didn’t say. useless chatter in the others opinions. soon, yu sighed and looked into the rear view mirror. “don’t tease him so much shoko, he won’t admit it, y’know.” shoko laughed and leaned on the back of the seat. “guess you’re right.” shoko went back to chatting with utahime and the car ride was silent from shokos teasing the rest of the way. eventually, haibara had dropped everyone off but suguru, who lived near him.
they lived closest to satoru but had to drop everyone off first so it ended up being a longer ride than suguru had hoped. it was silent for a while until yu broke it. “so.. do you actually like her or do you just find her attractive?” he kept his eyes on the road and suguru looked at him, contemplating something. “i don’t like her, i’ve known her for a few hours. she’s attractive, yeah but i don’t like her.” yu nodded as he drove. suguru looked back outside.
“yeah, i understand. maybe we should invite her to the party tomorrow?” yu suggested, suguru looked at him confused. “you want to?” he was genuinely curious as to why yu wanted to invite you, a girl of whom he’s known for less than 6 hours. “i mean, why not? she’s sweet.” he smiled and steered. the radio playing whatever the top 40 was in the background. “if anything, it seems like you got the hots for her yu.” suguru teased, yu clicked his tongue and shook his head. “she just seems sweet, she’s satorus cousin yet she’s nothing like him. she’s humble and she was nice to all of us despite not knowing us one bit.” suguru thought for a moment before nodding. haibara was right, despite not knowing any of them, not even their names, you were kind. his favourite quality in anyone is when they’re polite. “yeah, yeah, you’re right.” the drive was slow as suguru contemplated what haibara said, he always had an outlook on life like no other.
he was someone suguru admired despite haibara being such a.. normal person. suguru was far from that so haibara held every trait suguru could only hope to have. suguru wasn’t stupid, he knew everyone had their problems. yet, haibara seemed so.. effortless, he didn’t have to think before he spoke, didn’t have to think before speaking just in case he lashed out at the person in front of him. suguru had trouble with that, like he has had all of his life. he doesn’t have anger issues, he could just never control the anger slowly brewing with every minor inconvenience. it was like he had this.. switch. this switch inside his body that was slowly getting turned on. there was many occurrences where he had screamed at his loved ones because he couldn’t handle them being too loud or doing something wrong. he wouldn’t label himself as controlling. he was quite laid back but.. it was just something he could never control yet it was something he despised about himself. nobody could understand why he was so angry. he was like a ticking time bomb, that’s why he only had a small group of friends — the only people who could stand him, actually. they all were mean to each other in a way nobody else could understand. they kept him sane, they kept him under control. he loved them for that.
before he knew it, haibara had stopped at his house. “thanks haibara.” yu gave him a quick nod and smile before driving to his own house, which wasn’t that far from sugurus. suguru walked inside and slipped his shoes off, walking into the kitchen to grab some water. he opened the fridge, grabbing the water pitcher and pouting a glass for himself before he saw a note on the fridge.
‘gone for a business trip, will be back in a few weeks. tell gojo to give you money for groceries and we’ll pay him back - mom.’ suguru sighed and sipped his water, typical. he took the note and squeezed it into a ball before throwing it into the trash. he downed the rest of the water and threw the glass in the sink, causing it to clatter with a few dishes. he jumped a little bit at the noise but quickly composed himself.
he draped his jacket over the sofa and walked upstairs. he stripped himself of his shirt and went to the bathroom, placing his hands on the counter and looking at himself in the mirror for a moment. it was silence, nothing to be heard except for the busy city outside. he grabbed his toothbrush and squirted some toothpaste on it before brushing his teeth and tying up his hair while it rested in his mouth. he tied it up into a quick bun and continued brushing his teeth.
he swished some mouthwash around his mouth before going back to his bedroom and slumping on the bed. he sighed and stared at the ceiling. it wasn’t quick before his thoughts drifted to you. he was hoping you didn’t catch him staring at the dress shoko was holding up, imagining you were wearing it. he couldn’t deny you were really attractive, just his type, actually. how could someone related to gojo look so.. sexy? he was baffled honestly. he turned over in bed and pushed the blanket off of him, feeling much too hot to wrap up in it as of current. he closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep while his thoughts were still full of you. before long, he finally did.
the next day
you woke up in bed feeling like you had just slept on clouds, thanks to yu and suguru’s help. you turned over in bed to check your phone, where you had inputted haibaras number last night. you opened your phone and saw a flurry of messages from a groupchat called: ‘i want kfc’ still slightly dazed from sleep, you opened the chat to see a string of messages.

you decided to turn your phone off and go to the kitchen where satoru asked for you. he was waiting with a takeout bag, arranging everything on plates. “Y/N! heyyy!~” you yawned and sat on the chairs in front of the kitchen island. “good morning.” he smiled at you and pushed a plate in front of you.
“so i was texting yu last night, he wants you to come to this party.” gojo said as he sipped his latte. you nibbled on a waffle and looked at him with your mouth half full, your hand absentmindedly coming up to cover it. “he’s inviting me to a party? that’s really sweet. oh!- is that the one shoko mentioned?” satoru looked at you with a brow raised. “shoko mentioned it?” he asked, curiously. he was wondering where shoko would’ve even mentioned a party when she’s known you for such a short period. “yeah, i said she could borrow some clothes and she said she would borrow one of my dresses for a party.” satoru nodded with a quick ‘ah’ as he finally clicked on. “alright then, well the invitations open so.. what do you think?” he asked again, sipping his coffee and looking at you. you chewed the rest of your waffle and swallowed, looking up at him. “sounds good! who’s party is it?” satoru smiled and picked up his own waffle, taking a bite and groaning with delight. “sugurus. his parents are away for a while and he always throws ragers when they are.” he replied while chewing, not using the same courtesy as you to cover his mouth. you nodded and finished off the rest of your waffle and sipped the coffee satoru had brought you next to it. “tell haibara i said thank you for inviting me, what time is it starting?” satoru took another bite and spoke up again. “tell him yourself, and it starts at.. nine i think?” you nodded and stood up. “sounds good. i’ll thank him now.” satoru nodded and went back to his waffle and scrolling on his phone before peeking up, seemingly remembering something.
“oh, Y/N!” you turned around with your coffee cup in hand. “uh-huh?” he put down his waffle and took a sip of his coffee. “wanna go out today? we could go to the mall or something, find you a cute outfit?” you smiled and nodded. “i’d love to, thank you satoru.” he grinned and finally went back to his waffle. you turned around and went back to your room to get ready for the day.
you walked to the bathroom and brushed your teeth with satorus charcoal toothpaste. how fancy. you spat out the toothpaste and washed your mouth out with mouthwash, washing off all the black remnants from satorus toothpaste.
you brushed your hair and went to your bedroom to pick out a cute outfit. you opened your closet which was nicely arranged thanks to shoko and utahime. skimming through it, you ended up picking a pair of low rise jeans a tank top. it would be cute paired with some jewellery, you thought. after changing into the outfit and admiring yourself in the mirror for a moment, you decided to do your makeup. you sat down at the desk positioned at the edge of the room, pulling out your makeup bag.
you started doing your makeup until you heard your door swing open. “are you ready yet?~” satoru whines as he laid on your bed, practically falling back. you laughed and kept blending in your foundation. “i won’t be long, have some patience.” satoru groaned and grabbed his phone. “you’ll take ages, i know you will.” despite his gentle demeanour around you, he was always impatient and sort of bratty. it made you laughs how he tried to act so authoritative and parental despite just being a big kid himself. you could hear him typing and scrolling through his phone and you blended in your concealer and brushed on your blush and contour.
“they’re all excited to see you at the party tonight.” you looked at him through the mirror while continuing to apply your mascara. “they are?” you were doubting that satoru was actually telling the truth but deep down you were hoping he was, you didn’t have any friends here yet and you were hoping to make some. was it sad that you had to make friends with satorus friends to get any?
"so, we're going to the mall today. it's not too far from the apartment but it has some great stores." you applied some lip gloss as satoru started rambling about where he was going to take you. "-it's near sugurus office so maybe we can see him on the way." you raised a brow at that, his office? just how rich were these people? "sugurus office?" you questioned, " he has an office?" you were genuinely curious as to how this supposedly 21-ish year old guy had an entire office. "well his parents' office, like the gojo clan wanted to hand down to me?" ah, so that was it. you nodded and applied the rest of your lip gloss, refocusing your attention on it. "honestly, the only reason they gave it to him was because they feel bad. they're never at home and he's always pretty lonely so they thought money and a business would fill that gap." at satorus words, you felt a pang in your heart. clearly, you had judged too quickly and thought he was just another rich kid. you didn't know that sugurus parents were shitty too and now that you did know, you felt a connection to him. "jeez.. you really think you should be telling me that?" you asked, feeling kinda bad for intruding on sugurus personal life without him telling you directly. "probably not, but whatever. can we go now?" you finished applying your lip gloss and grabbed your jacket. "yeah, let's go."
as of now, you were in the passenger seat of satorus car as he described everything around you while you drove to the mall. eventually he parked next to what looked like a damn sky scraper. you marvelled at it for a second before satoru got out of the car and stood in front of the building with his hands on his hips. "let's hope he isn't too mad about me just showing up today, i brought him a cute gift after all." you looked at him confused until he gestured to you with a smirk and you finally realised what he meant. the 'cute gift' was you, really? "weirdo, so this is sugurus office?" you asked, looking at the building like it was a work of art. satoru nodded with a smug smirk on his face before he began walking in. you followed quickly, not wanting to fall behind.
when you walked in you were met with what looked like the waiting room. there was a really pretty receptionist at the desk who immediately perked up at the sight of gojo. "hey there gorgeous, suguru in today?" satoru asked flirtatiously, leaning on the receptionists desk as he did. such a flirt, it disgusted you a bit, watching your cousin flirt with a random girl just because he could. the receptionist blushed and giggled like a schoolgirl for a moment before nodding and turning around to pick up the corded telephone from the back of the desk, dialling a few numbers and holding it to her ear.
then, satoru turned to you and pulled a lollipop out of his pocket. he began sucking on it and offered you a red one. you took it and popped it into your mouth, enjoying the cherry flavour.
as suguru heard his phone ring he groaned, what was it this time? he picked it up with an irritated tone to his voice. "what?" he greeted, he could her his receptionist voice speaking from the other side, sounding sort of breathless which only meant one thing.. "satorus waiting for your downstairs, sir. he also has a girl with him." he heard her mutter these words, and he heard a hint of envy in her voice. the girl was either one of his friends or satorus cousin he had previously met. a part of him hoped that was the case. "alright, i'll be down in a moment. the receptionist sounded surprised by his quick compliance but didn't decide to question it. he hung up the phone and adjusted his blazer, getting in the elevator and making his way down.
as the elevator opened, he saw satoru standing there chatting with what indeed, was, his cousin. he walked over to them and only then did he notice the way she looked. jesus fucking christ. he gulped and looked her up and down, staring at the lollipop hanging from her lips and the shirt hanging from her shoulders, exposing her arms and a bit of her navel due to the low rise jeans. she had gold jewellery hanging from her wrists and beautiful gold hoops hanging from her ears. was this girl some kind of goddess?- "suguru, hey! quit ignoring me!" it was only then he turned his attention to satoru and realised he had been talking this whole time. "sorry, what?" satoru huffed and began talking again but suguru couldn't seem to focus on him until the last words that escaped from his mouth. "so Y/N's still good to come to the party tonight, right?" geto snapped out of it at this question and he snapped his head towards satoru. "since when was that happening?" he didn't mean to sound so snappy but when he saw the guilty look on your face, he shook it off and apologised. "i'm sorry, i didn't mean for it to come out that way. of course you're welcome, just took me by.. surprise is all." he knew yu had wanted to invite her to the party but he didn't think she would actually come. you looked at him with a soft smile and muttered a small 'thanks' and suguru smiled back. he really hoped he didn't make a bad impression on you.
"so, we'll see you at the party tonight?" satoru asked, looking at suguru with a smile. suguru nodded and finally peeled his eyes away from you. "yeah- yeah, sounds good." now, it was time to get ready for the party.
