Chapter Text

It was a warm, sunny day. Kori was sat back on a towel, the sand from the beach softly tickling her toes. With her bright pink sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose, she stared at the girl sat next to her, spreading sunblock on her arms.

Kori’s mind was racing. Lydia looked stunning in her black bikini, a few tattoos scattered around on her arms here and there. There was a tiny tattoo of a dragon on her hip bone, one Kori had gotten very familiar with, although under different circumstances.

The taller girl couldn’t believe her life right now. If you had told her six months ago that she’d be dating a beautiful alternative girl, she’d be laughing you right in the face. Life felt like a dream, and she couldn’t be happier. Now if only she knew how to ask Lydia to be her girlfriend

Suddenly, Lydia looked up, smirking. “I could feel you staring,” She grinned, “I know I look incredible, but please, just hold it in until we get home.” She winked.

Kori scoffed, a soft smile on her face as she rolled her eyes. “Girl, bye.”

The girl smiled back with a fond smile, “Need a hand with applying the sunblock?” She offered, already moving to sit behind her.

”That would be nice, thanks.”

Kori could feel Lydia’s breath on her neck as she delicately smeared the cold substance all over her back. No matter how many times they slept together, Lydia’s touch still managed to make her melt. Her nails softly scratched the skin on her back, sending tingles down her spine.

”If you’re trying to not get me to want to jump on you right now, you’re failing,” Kori joked, breathless.

Lydia chuckled softly. Softly smacking her back and appearing in front of her. “All done.”

Two girls appeared in front of them. Sam and Lana. Sam was wearing a sparkly bathing suit, as if she was still competing in a pageant instead of just going to the beach with her friends. Lana was wearing a yellow bikini, showing off her long legs.

“You two lovebirds want to join Jewels, Suzie and us in a volleyball match? We’re making the couples play against each other.” Sam piped up, a bright, toothy smile on her face.

“Sounds fun.” Lydia said, smiling when she looked at Kori. “How about you, babe?”

Babe. Kori’s heart skipped a beat. She could feel her face heat up.

”Sure,” Kori tried to shake the embarrassment off, “You’ll lose, though.”

Lydia shook her head, chuckling. “Not a chance.”

”Just giving you a heads up.”

The two joined the four girls standing around the volleyball net. Jewels was wearing a light pink bikini with tiny bows on it, her long, brown hair cascading down her back. Suzie was wearing a bathing suit that looked like it was straight from the 1920s, making Kori snort.

”Nice bathing suit, Suzie,” Kori quipped sarcastically. The auburn-haired girl just flipped her off.

”Don’t listen to her, honey,” Jewels smiled, “I think you look pretty.” Suzie’s cheeks dusted a light pink.

”Get a room.” Sam laughed, bouncing the volleyball around in her hands. Lana giggled, taking her place next to Suzie and Kori.

“At the end of the day, all you can do is laugh…” Lana said, then furrowed her brows with a competitive look on her face, “…When you lose!”

They played for about ten minutes, surprisingly both teams were good. Sam was competitive, as always, playing perfectly into Jewels’ advances. Despite Lydia’s alternative nature, Kori was surprised to learn she was actually really good at the game. It definitely didn’t cause her team to lose a few points because she definitely wasn’t staring at the girl’s body moving around, a sheen layer of sweat coating her skin.

”It’s a tie…” Lana sighed out after Suzie had delivered a winning point.

”How about this,” Lydia chimed in, a teasing grin on her face as she looked Kori straight in the eye. “The next team who wins a point, wins the game and gets head from their partners tonight.”

Jewels giggled, her cheeks heating up slightly. “Oh, the competition is really starting to heat up!”

Sam rolled her eyes, stealing the ball from her hands, “Good God… Get a grip girl!” The girl’s face hardened, taking a stance as she served the ball.

This round felt like it was playing in slowmotion. The ball endlessly passed around, until it almost hit the ground on the left side. Lydia dove down to hit the ball away from them, but hit the ground with a smack, the ball landing just in front of her.

”Lydia!” Kori yelled out, immediately rushing to her aid, kneeling down next to the girl. “You okay?”

The smaller girl spit out a bit of sand, sitting upright. Kori wiped the last bit of sand off her face. “Yeah, I’m alright.”

Kori offered her hand to pull her upright. “Let’s get drinks for everyone. I wanna go for a walk.”

”Get me a Sprite!” Jewels yelled after them, as the couple walked hand in hand. Lydia’s hand felt soft and small in Kori’s, her stomach fluttering as she smiled softly.

The walk towards the drink stand was relatively quiet. The sun was starting to set, and Kori’s nerves grew. If there was ever a perfectly romantic moment to ask Lydia to be her girlfriend, it would be now.

”Lydia-“

”Babe-“ Lydia spoke up at the same time. The two chuckled, and the girl signaled at Kori to continue. “You first.”

Kori’s heart stopped. The nerves got too much. She shot the girl a pained smile. “No, it’s fine, you go first.”

Lydia just looked at her, slightly taken aback. “Oh… Okay. Fuck, um… Here we go.” She quickly looked at her feet, smiling nervously. “We’ve been going out for a few weeks now, and I feel like we’re kind of surpassing lesbian stereotypes…”

Kori chuckled. “Go on…”

”I’m so embarrassed because this shouldn’t be this fucking nerve wrecking but… Kori King… Would you make me the happiest girl in the world and be my incredibly sexy girlfriend?”

Kori’s smile dropped. “Shit.”

Lydia’s eyes widened in shock. “What? Did I read this all wrong? We were good, right? I thought we were good…”

”Lydia.”

The girl looked up from her feet, her eyes brimming with tears. Kori quickly wrapped her in a hug.

”Don’t cry, idiot, I was gonna ask you the same thing,” Kori chuckled, rubbing the girl’s back in comfort, “I just didn’t think you’d beat me to it.”

Lydia stepped back, sniffling softly as she smiled fondly at her. “So I take it as a yes, then?”

Kori didn’t answer. Instead, she grabbed her girlfriend’s face and smashed their lips together. They moved in sync, a fire burning inside of them as the passion felt like a thousand exploding fireworks. As she pulled away from the kiss, Kori smirked. “That proof enough?”

Lydia smirked. “I’m gonna need a bit more…”

The Boston Girl rolled her eyes with a smile, but pulled her back in nevertheless…

Notes:

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this story, to comment, leave kudos… I am incredibly grateful. :) When I first started writing this, I hadn’t written anything in over a year, a bit insecure about my rusty writing skills. But each comment has made me smile, and I’m so happy with this story.

But don’t cry because it’s over, because there is a new fic in the works! It involves Jewels and Suzie, but in a different storyline :) Keep your eyes peeled for that one!

Until next time! <3

Notes:

It has been a while since I've written anything, so I apologize if it's a bit rusty! I saw the latest episode and... (spoiler) the *kiss*! I just HAD to write something! Enjoy <3
