How to convince my (30M) partner (25M) to not have a red and blue wedding theme because it looks too patriotic?
We want to be married at some point in the future. Finances and all that junk getting in the way. But I was daydreaming about our wedding colors. I brought it up to my partner who wanted to do blue for him and red for me since these colors have sentimental value to us, but every reference I look up looks patriotic. It’s in poor taste if we’re not military, right?
Anyways, he says that light blue and dark red don’t look patriotic at all and I disagree. How can I convince him to not go with this theme? Or at the very least find a way for it to not seem like we’re pretending to be military?

Please do Not do a wedding theme with light blue and red. It’s not patriotic, just ugly as fuck.

Unless you’re both sporting a buzz cut to the wedding and dressed in a military vest. It’s not going to look patriotic.

If you want the colors to be included in the wedding, make it only in the flowers and keep everything else white. I’m assuming you’d both be wearing suits so you could have your own boutonniere with your respective colors.

If the colors are sentimental, who cares if it looks patriotic? They mean something else to you guys and that’s what matters. There isn’t a way to convince him out of it if these are the perfect colors in his eyes.

I’m using this comment as an update because it’s what made me realize these will be our wedding colors. I bought this bouquet of red and blue flowers for him to admit defeat. His smile lit up my heart.
