Chapter 7: News, Tests, and Truths

Summary:

The Sports Festival is announced, and Yuuto retakes the Quirk Assessment Test. Class 1-A is excited for the festival. All Might tells Deku the story of One For All. One For All and All For One resonate with each other. An unlikely partnership is formed.

Notes:

Hello everyone! I'm sorry taking over a week to post this. No, the AO3 curse has not struck me yet, but life has been kicking my ass recently. Also, this chapter was split into two! Chapter 8 will contain the rest of the events leading up to the sports festival!

I'm going to be renaming the previous chapters. They felt pretty boring to me, so I decided to change them up. Hopefully they'll be more interesting!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

News of the attack on the USJ spread quickly. Everyone all across the country was talking about it. Yuuto understood why. After all, villains going after the top hero school was unheard of; no one has attempted it before. Yuuto hated the coverage. It only made him think of his brother. He felt guilty that he still loved Tomura so much.

Two days later during their homeroom, the class was discussing the news. Many of Yuuto’s classmates seemed to enjoy being on the news and the fame that came along with it. Unlike them, Yuuto didn’t want to be on the news. He wasn’t interested at all. When it was nearly time for class to start, Iida stood up and walked to the front of the class “Attention! Homeroom class is about to begin!” He shouted. “Everyone stop talking and take your seats.”

“Uh, we’re all sitting.” Kirishima said.

Sero told Iida, “Yeah, you’re the only one standing.”

Iida went back to his desk and sat down. “Dang it!”

“Don’t sweat it.” Uraraka comforted her friend. A moment later, Aizawa walked into the classroom.

“Morning, class.” The man had his broken arm in a cast. Yuuto assumed it was going to be healed later.

“Aizawa-sensei!” Iida called out, “I’m glad you’re okay!” Their teacher walked up to the front of the class and turned to face them.

“I know the USJ was yesterday, but your fight isn’t over yet.” The man stated monotonously.

“Our fight?” Bakugou wondered.

“Don’t tell me...” Midoriya started to say.

“Are there more villains?!” Hagakure asked.

The man answered, “The UA Sports Festival is about to start.”

Ah, the Sports Festival. I forgot about that.

“Yes!” The class shouted in unison-- something that happened frequently. “Ugh! Why would you scare us like that?” Everyone was thrilled about the news.

“Let’s go kick some ass!” Kirishima exclaimed.

“Wait a second.” Kaminari said, acting unusually serious.

Jirou asked their teacher, “Is it really such a good idea to hold the sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?”

“They could attack once we’re all in the same place.” Ojiro agreed with his classmate.

Aizawa sighed and said, “Apparently, the administration thinks this is a good way to show that the threat has been handled and our school is safer than ever.” He paused. “Plus, they’re beefing up security compared to past years. This event is a huge opportunity for all students at UA. It’s not something we can cancel because of a few villains.”

The man continued, “Our sports festival is one of the most watched events in the entire world. In the past, everyone obsessed over the Olympic games, but then Quirks started appearing. Now, the Olympics have been drastically reduced in terms of scale and viewership. For anyone who cares about competition, there’s only one tournament that matters: The UA Sports Festival.”

“That’s right,” Yaoyorozu said, “And top heroes everywhere will be watching. This is where you get scouted.”

This will be a great opportunity. I'll make the most of it.

Kaminari added, “She’s right. After graduating, a lot of people join pro agencies as a sidekick.”

“Yeah, but that’s as far as some people go. They miss their chance to go indie and stay eternal sidekicks.” Jirou said, before turning to Kaminari. “Actually, that’s probably where you’re headed. You’re kinda dumb” She told the boy.

At the front of the class, Aizawa spoke. “It’s true that joining a famous hero agency can garner you greater experience and popularity. That’s why the festival matters. If you wanna go pro one day, then this event could open the path for you. One chance a year. Three chances in a lifetime. No aspiring hero can afford to miss this festival.” Yuuto looked around, seeing everyone determined. He was sure the same expression was on his face as well. “That means you better not slack off on your training.” The man finished.

“Yes, sir!” The class responded.

“Also. Tanaka. We’re going to be doing the Quirk Assessment Test. I’m sparing you all from part of English class so you have an idea of what your classmate is capable of. Tanaka, go change into your gym clothes, and meet us on the field.”

“Yes, sir.” Yuuto said, leaving the room to get ready.

When Yuuto walked up to his classmates and teacher, he could hear them talking about what kind of Quirks he might have. He smiled, remembering that they didn’t mind his Quirk. Aizawa spotted him and said, “There you are. Now, let’s not waste any time. The tests will be in the same order as last time, starting with the 50-meter dash.”

For the entire test, he planned on using Kinetic Booster, Brawn Boost, and their copies. He would use additional Quirks as needed.

Yuuto activated Agility, Repulsion Rings, Accelerate, and Heavy Payload. As soon as the stopwatch started, Yuuto took off. He blitzed forward, pushing himself with his strength and blasts from his hands. He achieved a score of 0.46 seconds. The class was stunned.

“Whoa! He moved so fast!”

“Damn, less than one second?!”

“Alright, alright. Quiet down.” Aizawa scolded his students, writing down Yuuto’s score.

The next test was grip strength. He used Muscle Augmentation and its copy, Heavy Payload, and Amplify, another Quirk-strengthening Quirk he was lucky enough to pick up recently. When he squeezed the device this time, he heard something inside it break. The score it displayed was 999.99 kilograms.

“Dude!” Kirishima exclaimed. “That was so manly! You're so strong!”

“Thanks, Kirishima.” Yuuto said to his friend.

For the standing long jumps, he took a similar approach to the 50-meter dash. He used the same Quirks to easily clear the pit. Aizawa watched him with interest.

Then, Yuuto had to do the repeated side steps. He used Agility, Acrobat, and Repulsion Rings, and Endurance to keep himself moving. He kept going for several minutes straight before Aizawa told him to stop.

“That's enough. I'll just mark you as having cleared it.”

For the ball throw, he turned to his classmates. “Uraraka, could I borrow your Quirk for this?” He asked.

“Oh-- sure!” She replied. She seemed a little nervous, but also excited.

Before he could walk up to her, their teacher spoke. “If you're gonna use her Quirk, I'll just put your score as infinite.”

“Oh, alright.” Yuuto said.

For the sit-ups and long distance run, Yuuto was able to keep going for long enough that Aizawa told him to stop. The man seemed slightly impressed with his scores.

“Alright, we're done.”

“How'd he do compared to last time?” Someone asked.

“It was a drastic increase in every test. I've rarely seen some of these scores this high before. I guess it goes to show how strong raw power can be.” Aizawa explained, before turning to look at Yuuto. “Tanaka, don't think that this is your limit. You still need proper training, and we can still make you much stronger.”

“Yes, sensei.”

His classmates walked up to them.

“Man, that was so cool, Yuu-bro! Your strength is so manly!” Kirishima told him.

Midoriya was writing quickly in his notebook. “Yeah, it was so cool! You didn't showcase many Quirks here, but it was still really impressive to see!”

“Thank you, guys. I never imagined you all would be fine with my Quirk.” He said, grinning. He was grateful for his friends.

When it was lunchtime, the students were free. Everyone gathered into groups with their friends and talked about the upcoming Sports Festival. Yuuto was with Midoriya, Uraraka, and Iida. “This is gonna be nuts! Everyone’s so excited.”

“Well, yeah, of course we are!” Iida replied. “We enrolled at this school with the sole aim to become heroes. So naturally, we’re all getting fired up.”

“Wow, Iida.” Asui said beside Iida. “Those are some interesting moves. Kero.”

Iida faced Midoriya. “You have to be excited too, right, Midoriya?”

“Well, yeah, of course I am! And also nervous.” The boy responded.

“What about you, Yuuto?” Iida asked him.

He told his friend, “Yeah, I’m pretty excited. I’m confident that I’ll do well.”

“With power like yours, I’m sure you will.” Midoriya told him.

“Deku! Iida! Yuuto!” Uraraka called out to them.

“Uh-” Iida started, when he looked at her. The girl had a slightly angry, yet very resolute look on her face.

She seems determined. I like her spirit.

“Let’s do our best in the sports festival.” She said.

“Uraraka, what happened to your face?”

“Seriously, what’s up? Ashido asked her, “You’re normally, like, the most laid back girl ever.” Iida was holding onto his glasses, making sure he saw her face right.

Uraraka raised her fist up into the air, before saying, “Everyone! I’m gonna do my best!”

“Yeah!” They all replied to her. Then, the girl turned to Satou, Sero, Kirishima, and Tokoyami.

She repeated, “I said, I’m gonna do my best!”

“Got it!” Kirishima replied.

“Uh...” Satou seemed confused.

“You okay?” Kirishima asked the girl, “You kinda look like you’re losin’ it.”

As they walked to lunch, Midoriya asked, “Hey, Uraraka?”

“What’s up?”

“Why did you decide to come to UA? What made you wanna be a pro hero?”

“Oh... Well... Because... I wanted the money...”

Huh? That's it? Or is there more to her goal...

“Uh- For the money?” Midoriya said, “You wanna be a hero so you can get rich?”

“If we’re cutting to the chase, then, yeah.” She gasped, shaking her arm out. “I’m sorry if it sounds greedy. You three have such admirable motivations. I hope you don’t think less of me now.”

“Not at all!” Iida assured her. “Your goal is to support your wellbeing, which is a perfectly admirable ambition to have.” He said, waving his arms around in the air as usual.

“Mhm,” Midoriya said, “It’s just kinda surprising.”

“There’s no problem with it.” Yuuto agreed.

“Well, you see,” Uraraka started, “My family owns a construction company, but we haven’t gotten any work lately, so we’re flat broke. Anyway, this isn’t really something I usually tell other people, but...”

“Construction, eh?” Iida muttered.

Midoriya gasped. “If she got licensed, I bet she could use her Quirk to bring costs down a lot.”

“And,” Iida continued, “They could sell their heavy-lifting equipment. She could float everything!”

“I know, right!” Uraraka shouted. “I’ve been telling Dad that since I was a kid! But...” She paused, remembering something. It made Yuuto happy that she was close to her parents. “I’m gonna become a pro. I’ll sign with a good agency and make plenty of money. Then I’ll be able to let my parents have an easy life!” They all absorbed her statement.

Iida started clapping. “That’s beautiful! So noble!” And Yuuto agreed. She didn’t realize it, but her desire to help out her parents was very sweet and pure. “Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!” Iida praised.

“By the way,” Uraraka said, “Yuuto, why did you want to become a hero?”

“It might be a bit selfish, but I wanted to atone for my villainous past. And, I have a lot of power that should be used for something good.”

“That is also very noble of you! You want to make up for your actions in the past and want to help other people, even when you do not need to!” Replied Iida.

“Yeah. Your Quirk can be used to save so many people! It's not selfish at all.” Midoriya agreed.

“Really? I--” Yuuto turned around and looked down the hallway, sensing All Might's presence.

Then, they heard All Might’s laughter. “Young Midoriya and Yuuto are here!” The man asserted.

“Whoa, All Might! What are you doing here?” Midoriya asked the man.

“Lunch!” The man replied, holding up two bags containing food. “You two wanna eat with me?”

He wants to talk about something.

“So adorable!” Uraraka said. Yuuto thought it was pretty goofy.

“Whaddaya say?” Midoriya looked towards the other two, followed by Yuuto. Iida nodded at him.

“Sure thing!” The boy told his idol.

Iida and Uraraka went to eat lunch while Yuuto and Midoriya went with All Might.

All Might led them to his office. After they had walked in, he closed and locked the door. In the middle of the room was a short coffee table with two couches on opposite sides of it. Yuuto and Midoriya sat down on one of them, while All Might stopped using his Quirk and sat down.

“W-wait! All Might?! Why'd you do that?! Yuuto’s right here!” Midoriya panicked.

“Don't worry, young Midoriya. Young Tanaka is already aware of my state.”

“He is?! Wait-- Right, you can sense the Quirks around you. You probably sensed his Quirk and saw All Might in his skinny form, and made the connection.” Midoriya had started to ramble towards the end of his words.

“Yeah, I did. So, All Might, what did you want to talk about?” Yuuto asked.

“We need to talk about One For All.”

“What?!”

All Might continued. “Tanaka, you mentioned that your father had told you of it.” Yuuto tried not to flinch at the mention of his father.

“Yes. Did you explain its full story to Deku?”

“Not yet. We need to though, as He is still alive.”

“Who's he?” Midoriya asked, curious as ever.

“Allow me to explain the story of One For All first, young Midoriya.” All Might replied. “One For All is a very special Quirk that has existed since the beginning of Quirks. In the first several years after Quirks appeared, society was in chaos. They greatly changed life, and the world had not yet adapted to having Quirks. During this time, there was a man with a Quirk known as All For One. It allowed him to take Quirks from other people, or give them to others.”

“Wait! That's like Yuuto!” Midoriya looked beside him, locking eyes with Yuuto. Then, All Might spoke again, causing him to turn back.

“Yes, it is. Let me continue. The man became extremely strong due to his power, and amassed a large, loyal following. He was able to rule Japan from the shadows.”

“I've never heard of this before...”

“The government likes to keep this stuff hidden. I learned all about it, of course, but this knowledge would spread fear.”

“Young Tanaka is right. Underground dealings are never recorded.”

“One question. What does this have to do with One For All?”

“Well, when the man gave Quirks to other people, some could not handle the strain and became braindead, like the Nomu at the USJ. However, a few people had their Quirks mutate and fuse with their original Quirk.”

“Huh. That's strange...” Midoriya said under his breath.

“You see, the man had a brother who was Quirkless. His brother was weak, often being sick. He gave him a power stockpiling Quirk. Neither of the brothers knew that he actually did have a Quirk-- one that could be transferred to others. It was useless on its own, but then it fused into something more powerful: A Quirk that stockpiled power that could then be passed on.”

“That's One For All!”

“Correct, Young Midoriya. That was the origin of One For All. It is ironic that justice was born from evil. The man from this story, however, is still a threat today.”

“What? But this was over a century ago! How could he still be alive?”

“I believe he must've taken a Quirk that stopped or slowed aging or granted him immortality. The brother used his power to fight against his brother, but he was unsuccessful. He passed One For All onto another person, so that the power would grow strong enough to defeat him. I was the only user of One For All who was able to defeat that man... or so I thought.” All Night sighed, looking down at his feet.

“That man is still alive. He is Yuuto’s father, known by the name of his quirk, All For One. One day, you will have to fight him, Young Midoriya. I am sorry that I could not kill him.”

“Hm.. I had a feeling he was Yuuto’s father.” The green-haired bot looked up at his mentor. “It's okay, All Might. As long as you are by my side, I can do anything!”

“That's... great, young Midoriya.”

“Deku,” Yuuto spoke up. The boy turned to him. “The thing is, All Might will likely not be by your side by the time you have to fight.”

“What?! But--”

“He's been a hero for a long time already. He won't be around forever. But,” He paused, thinking momentarily. “I will be by your side. Together, we will defeat him, once and for all. We can fight together, side-by-side, as our Quirks should always have. We can work to bring peace to Japan. Okay?” He reached out his hand to put in Midoriya’s shoulder.

“Yeah! We--” For the both of them, their vision flashed white before fading to black.

Izuku wasn’t sure what to make of the sight before him. There was a large room, with walls made of blood-red darkness. Inside was a little, white-haired boy. His eyes looked familiar-- which made him realize this was a younger version of his friend, Yuuto. The boy’s eyes had a small sparkle that he did not see in his friend.

“Hello?” He said. But no one responded. He turned around and saw eight silhouettes behind him. He had seen these figures in his dream, but did not know who or what they were. Izuku continued to look around. Off to the side was a tall man with an obscured face, and opposite of Yuuto was a creature that resembled a Nomu.

After a moment of silence, the tall man spoke. “Begin.” Yuuto and the Nomu started to fight. This Nomu didn’t seem nearly as powerful as the one from the USJ, and his friend only used a few different Quirks. To Izuku, it felt as if his friend was still at a disadvantage, however. His friend was able to defeat the Nomu after five minutes. He looked towards the tall man, who said nothing. There was a frown on the only visible part of his face.

“That was disappointing.” He walked towards Yuuto, who had looked up at the man, trembling.

“I-I’m sorry. I can do better. I’ll prove it!” The boy said. Izuku could tell he was afraid.

“You will have to prove it another time. Due to your lackluster performance, a punishment is in order. If you had done better, perhaps this wouldn’t be necessary.” The man said coldly. He stopped in front of his friend, and reached a hand out. A red energy flowed around his hands, and the man grabbed Yuuto’s head. His friend started to scream, and was quickly let go of. Yuuto fell down, and started spasming on the floor.

“Once you are done, you will be escorted to the vault. I will let you out tomorrow.” The man left the room, leaving Yuuto to suffer alone.

“Wh-what was that?!” Izuku asked out loud. He winced, seeing his friend twitch on the floor, and looked behind him. Most of the figures seemed indifferent about the scene, but three of them seemed upset and possibly enraged. He could feel it too-- an echo of their emotions. Before he could say anything, the world flashed white again.

The sun was shining down on a park. There were five kids, two of which Yuuto recognized. He was able to realize what he was seeing was a memory of his friend’s. Midoriya and Bakugou’s younger selves looked at each other. There was a boy crying behind Midoriya, while two others stood by Bakugou. Midoriya was trembling, fists balled up tight.

“Why are you being so mean?” Midoriya asked. “You’re making him cry, Kacchan!” The boy put up his little fists. “If you keep on hurting him, uh, I’ll, uh-- I’ll stop you myself!” Midoriya stated. Bakugou and the other boys stood silent, appearing to be processing Midoriya’s words.

“Hm. You wanna pretend to be a hero?” The boys activated their Quirks, and Bakugou let out an explosion into his palm. “You don’t stand a chance without a Quirk, Deku!” The boy smiled with malice. Midoriya gasped in fear as the boys rushed towards him. They started to beat him up, using their bodies and Quirks. Midoriya didn’t fight back, letting them hurt him. The group of boys punched, kicked, and used their Quirks on the boy until they got bored. After a few minutes had passed, they left.

“So Bakugou was always like this? Deku still seems to consider them friends. He’s too kind for his own good sometimes...” Yuuto muttered to himself. In front of him, Midoriya was beaten and bruised. The boy twitched, while the other boy stayed by his side. His friend’s younger self was dazed, and didn’t get up as the memory started to fade.

“Boys! Young Izuku, Yuuto!” All Might said as Yuuto woke up. The man was at their side, checking them over. Midoriya was still unconscious, but Yuuto assumed he would be up soon based on his own experience.

Yuuto said to the hero, “Urgh-- All Might, we’re fine.” All Might turned to look at him, relieved.

“Yuuto! You’re alright. What happened?” He said, checking his protege over. He held the boy carefully in his arms.

“Our Quirks-- They did something with each other. It was almost as if they resonated.” Yuuto replied. The hero looked at him in confusion. “I’ll explain.”

“Explain what?” Midoriya said, having woken up.

“Young I-- Midoriya! Yuuto was going to explain why you two passed out.” All Might informed him.

“Is that what that whole thing was about?”

“Yeah. I’m guessing you saw a memory of mine while I saw one of yours?” He asked his friend.

“That’s what that was! Yeah, I did.” Midoriya told him.

“I believe it was our Quirks reacting to each other. On the first day of school, I saw the vestiges of One For All, I think. They were all huddled around Deku.”

“What do you mean by vestiges? What are those?”

All Might interrupted to explain. “Allow me to explain, Yuuto. I’ve seen them before. They are the remnants of past users of One For All, young Midoriya. I do not understand why they are there, but they are. I’ve only seen them briefly in dreams, though.”

“Every Quirk has a vestige,” Yuuto explained, “But this Quirk is special. Because there are multiple, and the Quirk’s nature, they are more prevalent and active compared to regular vestiges. I believe it’s mainly due to their will to fight against All For One.” He shuddered, saying his father’s name.

“That would make sense. Thank you for explaining, young Yuuto.” All Might said, smiling. “Now, let’s talk about the Sports Festival, shall we?”

They moved onto talking about the upcoming event. The two boys were excited for the sports festival. Both were equally determined to win it. All Might wanted Midoriya to subtly present himself as the next Symbol of Peace, but reminded the boy he would be proud regardless. Yuuto felt warm inside seeing their relationship be like father and son, and felt warmer when All Might treated him the same way.

When their next hero class came around, they were going to be running obstacle courses in their costumes. There were many changes in his classmates’ costumes. Yaoyorozu had a suit fully covering her chest and stomach. It was infused with her DNA, allowing her to use her Quirk through it. It had a skirt as well as pants that went down most of her thighs. Instead of a book at her hip, she had a visor which showed information on the chemical structure of various materials.

Hagakure had a full body suit that was also infused with her DNA. She was able to make it invisible at will, as she discovered her Quirk was able to refract light. The suit was light blue with darker blue accents. Her gloves now had brass knuckles, allowing her to hit harder.

Kaminari had thin protective armor underneath his clothing. The clothing was thicker and more durable, as well. He had a new long range weapon that the support department was able to make for him. Similarly, Jirou’s costume had a protective suit underneath. She also had more speakers on her hands and arms.

Uraraka’s new costume was bulkier. It was made of a tough material instead of a skintight suit. She planned on getting some sort of tool or weapon that would work well with her Quirk at some point, she had told him.

It took some time for a few of them to adjust, but eventually, they were all able to run the obstacle course pretty well. Yuuto was proud of his classmates.

As class ended, Yuuto sensed a large crowd of people approaching.

What’s with all the students coming our way?

When they went to leave, he and his classmates encountered the horde blocking the door.

“U-um, why the heck are you all here?” She asked the group.

“Do you students have some sort of business with our class?”

“Why are you guys blocking the door? Can you let us out, please?”

“They’re scouting out the competition, idiots.” Yuuto had to agree. After the villain attack, their class was big news. They’d be in the spotlight during the sports festival. “We’re the class that survived a real villain attack.” Bakugou continued to walk.

“Let’s just hope he doesn’t explode anybody.” Midoriya muttered. Yuuto decided he wasn’t interested in dealing with the group, and followed Bakugou.

“At least now you know what a future pro looks like.” Bakugou stated to the crowd. “Now move it, extras.”

Iida shouted to him, “You can’t walk around calling people ‘extras’ just because you don’t know who they are!”

“So this is Class 1-A.” A purple-haired boy said, “I heard you guys were impressive, but you just sound like an ass. Is everyone in the hero course delusional, or just you?” Bakugou growled, anger present on his face. “How sad to come here and find a bunch of egomaniacs.”

“You shouldn’t call us that,” Yuuto said, “We’re here because we are very capable.”

“I wanted to be in the hero course,” The boy said, “But like many others here, I was forced to choose a different track. Such is life.”

“Well, I’m sorry about that, but I don’t see why you’re here. What is it that you want?”

“I’m here to tell you that I’m after a spot in the hero course. You see, this is a second chance for me. If any of us do well in the sports festival, the teachers can decide to transfer us to the hero course, and they’ll have to transfer people out.” Behind him, Yuuto heard his friends gasp. “Scouting out the competition? Maybe some of my peers are, but I’m here to let you know that, if you don’t bring your very best, I’ll steal your spot right from under you. Consider this a declaration of war.”

“Yeah? Hm...” Yuuto inspected the boy's Quirk. It seemed to be a powerful hypnosis Quirk. “You really want to make it into this course? You'll need to train hard for the Sports Festival then.” He told him.

“What, you think you all are just that much better?”

“No offence, but we are. We've had more training already.” The purple-haired boy was about to respond, but someone else spoke up.

“Hey, you!” Another voice yelled, coming from a gray-haired boy. “I’m from Class 1-B next door to you! We heard you fought some villains, and I came to see if that was true. But I think you’re just a bunch of brats who think you’re better than us!”

“Someone from Class B? Assuming our class is a bunch of brats is rather foolish. We did fight villains, although I handled the most dangerous ones. Still, it was a serious attack. They were willing to kill. Don’t be ridiculous.”

“You’re so full of yourself, but talk all ya want! It’ll just be more embarrassing when you’re KO’d.”

“I’m afraid that you have no chance of beating me. My strength exceeds yours.” Bakugou walked off, leaving Yuuto to face the mob alone.

“Hey! Where’s he going?!”

“You two gotta say something. It’s your fault they’re all hating on us, Bakugou and Yuu-bro.” Kirishima said to them.

“It’s not our fault. They came to those conclusions themselves when they know nothing about our class.” Yuuto countered.

Bakugou responded, “These people don’t matter.”

“Huh?” Kirishima said, confused.

“The only thing that’s important is that I beat them.” Bakugou said. Then, he walked off.

The gray-haired boy shouted to Bakugou, “Hey! I’m comin’ for you!” However, he was ignored. “Tch. Class B is gonna beat you all in the Sports Festival, just you wait.” The boy walked in the opposite direction of Bakugou.

“Hm. Well, that happened. You, the purple-haired boy who declared war against us, come with me.”

“What?” The boy said, confused.

“Yes, you. Let's have a chat.”

“So why exactly do you want to talk to me? You got something to say?” Yuuto felt the boy’s Quirk activate, so he used Mental Guard in return.

“You've got great potential. The entrance exam is designed in a way that would never let you in without lots of training. If the Sports Festival is an opportunity for you to join the hero course, you'll need to stand out amongst the other 39 hero students in our year.”

“Wait-- you-- you didn't get affected by my Quirk?! What the hell?” The boy asked, confused.

“I simply used Mental Guard when I felt you trying to use your Quirk.”

“So you've got a Quirk that was useless against the robots? How'd you get in?”

“The robots weren't a problem. I was using a strength Quirk until the USJ attack. Anyways, what is your name?”

“Shinsou Hitoshi. Why?”

“Meet me everyday after school in training field B. We'll train for the sports festival. Alright?”

“You're really gonna train me?”

“Yeah. As I said, you have lots of potential.”

“Okay then. Let's do it.”

Yuuto planned to use the next two weeks training himself and his friends for the sports festival. He wanted to show the world that he would become one of the greatest heroes.

Notes:

So, Shinsou and Yuuto are gonna be working together. I wonder how that will affect the sports festival?

Not sure how this chapter might be in terms of writing. I might add more of Yuuto's thoughts to the second half of the chapter. I've also been thinking about the consequences of his existence. If you have any ideas as to how his existence changes the world of MHA, feel free to share!

Notes:

This is my first fanfic. I actually don't tend to write, but this is something that's been on my mind for a while. In the future, there's a lot of stuff in canon that will change and that I want to change. As much as I love MHA, it has lots of problems.

If you have any criticism, feel free to share it! I'd love to know what I did well and what I can do better.
