Chapter 2
Henry reaches home and is greeted with David running towards him. “Hey baby! How was your lunch”, a voice echoes from the couch. Henry gravitating towards his fiancé, “It was fine love, how was your afternoon?” asks Henry while sitting on the couch. “Boring!”, says Alex rolling his eyes. Henry turns towards Alex with a quizzical look, “What made you fall in love with me?” Alex laughs at first but after noticing Henry’s serious about the question, “Well obviously your hot body”, he says while leaning towards Henry to kiss him. “Get off, you cretin” says Henry while making no effort to block Alex. “But seriously tell me what made you fall in love with me”.
Alex thinks for a second and says, “You might not remember this, but one time we were out in a club with all our friends June, Nora everyone and I was telling you guys about something that had happened at the firm and as I was getting to the best part Hunter interrupted me who was apparently arriving ‘fashionably late’ and made a joke about what was I ranting on about this time and everyone laughed. I know they were not trying to be rude at least not intentionally but that shit hurt before I could go into the spiral of self doubt you approached me and asked me to complete my story and told me you found it interesting”. Henry with a puzzled expression, “That’s it, just courteous worked for you”. “For you it may not be a big gesture, but for someone who has grown up hearing ‘’you’re too loud’’ or ‘’you’re too much”, it was everything. With you I don’t have to worry whether I’m being too much, with you I can be myself and I don’t have to doubt for a second if you’ll leave me”. “After meeting you the fear of abandonment does not cast its shadow on my happiness. You bring a sense of calm in my chaotic world. You are my world babe, and of course that ass of yours certainly does help”, says Alex with a mischievous smile.
Henry with tears in his eyes, smile on his face and Alex’s hand in his, certainly will never forget why he fell in love with Alex.
