Chapter Text
She was his everything. He felt an overwhelming sense of pride as a husband and as a father to be the man they both needed. He ensured no one would or even could mess with his family. No one would dare hurt them, not as long as he was breathing. She was the good in his life, the one person to show him the love he always craved, and felt just as possessive over him as he felt over her. They were a perfect match that held beautiful memories. She kept his mind at peace when it felt like it was going to implode of itself. His inner turmoil always eased when he could see her joyful face, especially when the day did not feel as rewarding. But with a baby on the way, and the special day being his day off (he worked late last night so he did not have to work today), he was ready to celebrate with his wife and mother with their child.
He saw her on the couch. “Up so early?” He sat beside her, his hand on her thigh. “Or couldn’t sleep?” He saw her calm a bit by his touch and it warmed his heart at how much she felt safe with him.
“Just hurting a little.” She sighed, her hand on top of his, and their fingers intertwined. “Sore, I guess.”
“I may not know how it feels to carry a baby,” He kissed her forehead. “But I will do my best to keep the pain low.” He stood up, helped her position so he'd be able to massage her shoulders without making her feel uncomfortable. She softly let out a moan, feeling her body tense up and relax as he gave her relief in her muscles. “There, let the feeling take over your body and relax.” He pulled up her hair/moved it to the side/[however you wish him to move your hair or take care of your hair as he massages your shoulders/neck]. His hair tenderly moved up to her neck, making sure to not be harsh, but applying enough pressure to get the tension out of muscles. “Would it feel better if I took off your shirt?”
“If it would help you, yeah, I don’t mind.” [Name] mumbled, enjoying his fingers delicately touching her skin and clothing. She raised her arms as he carefully removed the clothing.
With a single finger, he traced her back, following the outline of his shoulder blades, to her spine. He adored her. Everything about her. A love so true that flaws to others were just as beautiful to him. He ran his finger over every spot, mark, stretch mark, or scar along her back, admiring all of it. To ensure all her back was touched, that every freckle or mole was gazed, that every scar felt the warmth of his love, and her stretch marks to be adored just like everything else. He began to ease his fingers gently into her back, smiling at any sound she made.
“You really know how to work my body, huh? More ways than one.” She smirked, humorously.
He shook his head, amused at her naughty joke. “A good thing I do. Your body is so tense.”
“Yeah, carrying a child around is hard work. Some women make it look so easy.” She laughed, groaning as he eased a knot.
“Heh, well, you’re very strong.” Caleb kissed the back of her neck. “Doing such things, creating life, it’s a hard job. But, I’m here to do the other heavy lifting. You have enough of your plate as it is.”
“Thank you, Caleb.” She closed her eyes, and leaned back into him. “So many days, I think back, and I really want to say I’m thankful for you.” She lifted her hand and he took it instantly. “I know there are things you’ve yet to tell me, and I know you just want to protect me. But, in the end, no matter the hardships or hard decisions, I love you no matter what. Cause I know the choices you make are for a reason. And I know this place is dangerous, even for someone like you.”
He closed his eyes, and opened them back up. “I know, and one day, I will tell you everything.” He kissed her neck. “Oh, [Name], you’re my world. I will always do things for us. And now, for the little one that’ll soon be running around here. I promise that nothing will come to harm you.” He gently squeezed her hand.
“I know,” She kissed the back of his hand. “You’ve done so much for me, Caleb.” She felt tears swell into her eyes. “And I know, you’ll be the best father in the world.”
He smiled, and kissed her tears. “And you’ll be the best mother in the world.” He rested his hand on her belly. “Our little one is going to have the best life we can give him/her. They’ll never have to feel pain like we do. If that makes sense.”
“It does.” Her heart fluttered, loving the way his hand felt on her stomach. “A life where they won’t fear death. A place where they can explore.”
“Maybe I'll tell him/her all the things I’ve seen.” He smiled. “Stories, such happy stories.”
“And I’ll tell them about my stories.” She rested her forehead against his. “A time where our memories are seen in light rather than dark.”
“Yes,” He kissed her. “Happy Mother’s Day, [Name].”
His heart swelled. The thought of the future made him beam with happiness. He loved providing, to protect, to be a good man for his family. To treat his wife as the goddess that she was. Against any odds that may try to stop them, he would do everything in his power to ensure nothing goes wrong. He would let the world burn for her if it meant that their love runs free.
