Chapter Text
After Amphibia Redux
The Ending Storm
Heart hummed in delight as she placed the current chapter along the edge of the book then beamed when she tugged out the blank pages that were left for her to work with. The story had been a labor of love and she was sad to see it end, but there was a sequel to look forward too so she wasn’t too broken up over it. With that in mind, Heart tugged out her quill and began to write.
Anne reluctantly packed Andy into the car, the child pouting as she was trapped in her car seat. Liv was dozing still, thankfully, her little head cushioned as she snored away. Hope and Bea were sleeping as well, Anne kissing Andy’s head before closing the van door and looking towards Sasha, who was already climbing into the passenger’s seat. Anne headed around the car and climbed into the driver’s spot, looking back and finding Marcy was typing something up onto her phone. “Everyone is already on their way to the warehouse. I’ve done all I can now,” she said with a small air of finality in her voice, her head lifting as Anne bit her lower lip.
“What should we even be prepared for?” Anne said as she turned forward and started the car.
“Anything,” Sasha said somberly. With that, the group began heading towards the warehouse, Anne’s free leg bouncing in nervousness and worry. So many things could and probably would go wrong. She swallowed thickly as they made their way through the early morning, the young woman glancing over when Sasha gently placed a hand on her arm. “Everything is going to be okay. Don’t worry,” she said in a soft and soothing tone. Anne nodded and forced herself to relax, swallowing when they got to the warehouse. She could see her parents were already there, two suitcases at their feet and Anne smiled reflectively, her hands tightening on the steering wheel.
“I love you guys,” she said lowly, a soft coo coming from Sasha and Marcy. Her smile relaxed as they mumbled that they loved her too, and Anne parked. They began climbing out and Anne’s parents headed over, another car parking at their side. The Newtopian Five spilled out and Artem reached over as soon as Anne was outside of the car, grabbing her shoulder tightly.
“I need to speak with you privately.” There was nothing more said as he dragged her away and the others looked to them in worry.
“What’s going on?” Anne asked as soon as they were far enough away. Artem scowled and lifted his arm, revealing the cuff that was fully charged with energy.
“When we get to Amphibia, I need you to disable this. When you charge the battery, it's going to become super charged and dangerous. It'll like having a ticking time bomb on my arm. The power can used by you if you need it, but not now. It would confuse the machine.” Anne blinked in shock then worriedly looked at Sasha and Marcy.
“Wait….you mean when Sasha, Marcy, and I charge the machine right?” She asked, Artem humming lowly.
“You carved the runes into the battery for a reason Heart. They are specially tuned to you for a reason. This whole thing is impossible to work without you for insurance. That means they can’t replicate it even if they got their hands on our plans. You have the full power of the gems within you. You’re going to have to push yourself past what you think you can do,” he said lowly, Anne’s eyes narrowing.
“Marcy and Sasha have that power too. They can access Wit, Strength, and Heart,” Anne began, but Artem shook his head.
“Yes, but it’s always been you. You are the strongest between the three of you. That is why you know all that you know. I……..lied when I didn’t allow Marcy to learn rune work. She would have obsessed yes, but the second reason, the true reason was because you are the strongest and you can ascend. You’ve done it before,” he said lowly. Anne’s eyes widened and she stared as what he said hit her.
“You want me to….”
“I want you to call upon the magic within you to help you get us to Amphibia.” Anne swallowed thickly then winced as two nice looking cars rolled into the parking lot, her brow furrowing in worry. “Thus, it begins. Remember. You’re the only one that do this.” They headed back over to the others and Marcy gently took her hand, worry appearing on her face.
“Are you okay? What did Artem want?” She asked lowly, Anne swallowing then shaking her head.
“I'm okay. Artem wanted to go over something with the battery, but it's not an issue,” Anne said slowly, watching as Bossman slipped out of one of the cars. Mr. X and Miss A slipped out of the other and Anne frowned deeply at the sight of the woman. Bossman seemed to light up as soon as he saw Anne and she grimaced, tightening the grip she had on Marcy’s hand with nervousness.
“Everything is going to be okay,” Marcy said in a soft tone, Anne sucking in a slow shuddery breath.
“I know,” she lied, the man walking over and beaming at them.
“Let’s get this show on the road! I’m excited to see how this is going to work!” He said in delight, the others looking at one another warily. Miss A gave them all a fake smile while Mr. X looked at Anne intensely. Anne gave him a tight smile and he returned it as they all began walking towards the building. “I’m surprised all of you are here,” Bossman began, Anne looking at the assembled. The Wus seemed to have slipped into the group without fan fare, the two elders ignoring him and more focused on Marcy and the children, who were now awake. Anne’s parents were keeping Dr. Jan protectively between them, Dr. Jan ignoring Bossman as she looked at Anne in worry. Anne gave her a weak smile and looked to Sasha’s parents next. Mr. Waybright and his former wife were strangely united, glaring at the man then looking at one another in worry while Sasha scowled and carried their bags. The Newtopian Five seemed to be ignoring him as well, Artem taking off his cuff and tucking it into his pocket, Nora slipping close and stealing it when no one was looking. Anne’s eyes widened and Nora gave her a small slightly sad smile. Anne nodded and looked forward as they came to the large room where the portal rested, Terri already inside and running the machine. Ally and Jess were pacing, worry appearing on her faces when they saw the group and Anne gave them a tight smile. “Let’s get started!” Anne glanced at Marcy and Sasha, who eyed the charging station and then looked to Artem, who was looking at Mrs. Wu and Mr. Waybright. Mrs. Wu looked worried while Mr. Waybright seemed resigned, Anne sighing in relief when she realized she wasn’t going to be the only person pissing off her girlfriends.
“Anna. Alexander. If you don’t mind,” the massive man said, Mr. Waybright already moving and grabbing Sasha in a tight bear hug. Sasha looked surprised then shifted, Anne’s eyes widening when she saw the glowing bracelets that the man was wearing. Marcy moved and Anne winced, swiftly reaching down and shoving her towards her mother, Mrs. Wu grabbing Marcy and shooting Anne a thankful look.
“Mom!?”
“Dad?!” The two began to struggle and the others looked at them in alarm while Anne glanced at her parents and rubbed her hands together.
“Mom…..dad. What I’m going to do is going to be scary, but please…..don’t interfere,” she said softly, her parents frowning deeply, but nodding. Dr. Jan looked between the two then grabbed their wrists, giving Anne a small smile.
“Do what you have to.” Anne began heading for the platform while Marcy and Sasha struggled worse, Mr. Waybright huffing and shuffling backwards, grunting when Sasha’s mother hit him in the back.
“What are you doing!?” She cried, the man ignoring her and tightening his arms around Sasha, who was struggling worse. Mrs. Wu thankfully seemed to have told her husband about what she was going to do, though he seemed distressed and was attempting to calm the children down. Bossman was watching the scene with avid interest while Miss A and Mr. X watched with hooded eyes. Terri was frowning deeply while Ally and Jess hesitated near the platform.
“Wait. Anne. You can’t charge this thing by yourself,” Terri began, Anne giving them a glare. They flinched back and Anne focused on her powers, allowing the energy from her heart to overtake her. Blue sparked and colored her eyes and hair, the young woman moving then standing on the platform and slowly breathing out. Blue began building, the platform lighting up brightly.
“Remember what I said,” Artem called, shouldering Terri out of the way and taking over. Terri yelped then glared at the large man, who was beginning to adjust dials on the machine. Anne let out a shuddery breath then closed her eyes, and allowed herself a moment to relax, her shoulders dropping then she reached out mentally towards her powers, hoping that they would answer her call.
Heart hummed and snapped, grinning as a small portal opened, revealing Wit. She was drawing something, Starry floating above her and making several hand motions. Wit glanced at her and smiled, Heart lifting the papers she had already written on and holding them out. “Collab?” She asked, Wit perking up and nodding.
“Sure!”
Marcy stopped breathing as she watched the energy pulse around Anne, the young woman freezing as the blue flashed to pink, then green before beginning to turn to white. “No…..no no no no no no no,” she could hear muttered from Sasha. Her eyes widened further, tears of fear and panic clogging her throat as she remembered. She had seen a flash of what Anne had turned into when she had taken all of the energy of the Calamity Gems into her body, the young woman’s mouth falling open as Anne opened her eyes and rolled them to her. She was…..beautiful. Her long white hair seemed to flow around her face in an unfelt breeze and her pupils were diamond shaped stars of blue, the young woman’s face blank. Their was a glow around the upper part of her chest, just under her neck and her scars seemed to pulse with energy. Anne opened her mouth then flinched as part of the wall near the platform was caved in and a robot began climbing through the rubble.
“What….” Her voice was two toned, echoing in the room as a blue eyed robot locked onto her then twisted it’s head from side to side.
“Calamity Heart.” Anne’s eyes widened and the group’s jaw dropped, Bossman scowling and looking at Miss A furiously.
“What is the meaning of this?!” He growled loudly, the woman looking from the bot to him in alarm.
“Sir, I don’t know where this bot came from!” She began before another larger toad shaped bot appeared next, pink eyes narrowing on Anne.
“CALAMITY HEART……” The bot growled, massive hands reaching forward in a threatening way. Anne scowled in return while Bossman reached for his hip and tugged out a radio.
“We have a Code Surprise.” Marcy only had a moment to wonder what he meant before several windows exploded and people began screaming. She felt her mother’s grip on her arms loosen and took that moment to break away, stumbling forward and watching as the bots turned to the new SWAT looking people that had broken in. The young woman’s eyes widened and her mouth fell open when she saw the glowing medieval style armors they wore. It…..reminded her of the core armor that she had once been forced to wear.
“Say hello to the remnant of Frogvasion. Whatever energy was in the remains of the metals that the giant newt wore were repurposed and placed within these suits. You’ll find that each member of this elite force were chosen for their skills and strengths on the battlefield. Captain Pearl. Contain the threat!” He called, the leader of the group, who wore a decorative helmet with a large glowing pearl on the forehead, nodding.
“Let’s move people!” The person called, their voice low but feminine. The group moved as one, placing themselves between Anne and the two bots. They began firing some kind of energy based guns at the machines and they retreated, leaving the room in an uneasy silence.
“We should stop the test,” Terri said in fear, Artem hesitating and looking to Bossman, who was now scowling deeply.
“No. We continue. We can’t allow this to set us back,” Bossman growled, Terri looking at him in worry.
“Sir. We can wait until this situation is-,” Terri tried to reason but Bossman narrowed his eyes at them.
“Terri. I’m trying to be kind. Do as your told,” he hissed, Terri flinching and cowering away. Marcy felt a certain amount of disgust erupt in her belly and looked at Anne in worry. It seemed like she could see whatever was going on with the task force and the bots. She was watching them blankly and Marcy swallowed thickly before taking a chance and rushing over. “Miss Wu!” Bossman barked but Marcy was already close to the platform and reaching out with a trembling hand.
“Anne?” She whispered, the twin diamond eyes snapping towards her and for a moment the two seemed frozen in time. Anne’s blank expression softened for a small second and Marcy placed her hand on her arm.
“I’m-,” Anne began before flinching then grabbing Marcy and tugging her off of her feet. Marcy yelped as Anne twisted and covered her fully, several shots firing in their direction. Marcy looked up at Anne in shock, her eyes widening as the glow in Anne’s eyes got brighter in what looked like fury.
“Marcy!?” Snapping out of her stupor, Marcy poked her head out from around Anne and found the others were crouched on the ground, Sasha looking at her in terror while Bossman scowled and held up a pistol. Mr. X was looking at him in horror while Miss A was pale and shaking.
“You are distracting Anne from her work Miss Wu. I will not be nice next time,” he growled, his eyes narrowed as Anne tenderly rubbed at her back and kept a tight grip on her.
“Are you okay?” She whispered, her voice soft and gentle.
“I’m okay,” Marcy whispered back softly in return, glancing at Anne and finding that she was relaxing.
“Marcy! You need to get off the platform. Your energy is making it difficult to connect to Amphibia!” Artem yelled, Marcy looking at him and finding he looked concerned, but was masking it relatively well.
“I’m going to kill Bossman,” Anne whispered, Marcy grimacing but shaking her head.
“He’s not worth it,” she whispered lowly in return, allowing Anne to place her down and quickly moving off of the platform.
“Go back to your family. I’m only telling you once,” Bossman ordered, Marcy scowling, but quickly rushing back and allowing Sasha to tug her into a tight hug. Anne glared hatefully at Bossman, but he ignored it, looking to Artem and waving his gun. “Proceed.” Artem scowled and gently tapped out the tune for Amphibia. The battery suddenly pulsed in the corner and everyone watched in awe as it lit up in a dazzling array of colors. Anne gasped and grabbed onto the railing near the platform, bowing her head as white energy was suddenly leeched off of her and began heading for the battery.
“Anne!” Marcy and Sasha cried in unison, the others watching helplessly as more energy gathered into the battery and the portal began to pulse. Artem took one more look at the girls then hit the switch and Anne went limp, the power fading from her as the portal activated.
Wit smiled to herself before lifting a hand and creating a small portal back to Heart, giving her a wink and passing her back the papers, the other guardian beaming. “I’m excited to see what you’ve written,” she said happily, Wit beaming in return.
“You’ll love it.”
The room was silent as rolling green hills were revealed to them, larger than life dragonflies buzzing in the distance. “Anne!” The group flinched at the yell, Mr. Waybright grunting in anxiety as Sasha broke free and rushed over, kneeling and tugging Anne off of the platform. Anne’s head logged to the side, blood seeping out from where the crack scars on her arm once rested. “Marcy!” She called in distress, Marcy running over next. She quickly knelt at her side and placed trembling hands on Anne, tears welling in her eyes.
“We did it.” Marcy froze, then looked up and over to Bossman, who was beaming madly. “We made a portal back. This opens up so much more power to us,” he said lowly, marching forward and towards the portal.
“Mr. Bossman,” Miss A began, the man ignoring her as he paused just a few feet away from it.
“I have to speak to my superiors about this. Yes, Director Tan will be furious, but I’ve proven their powers can be harnessed. The King Armors got a huge boost by just being in the vicinity of Anne. Think about how much more power they can have if she supplies it directly!” He said with a laugh. A low growl came from Sasha’s throat, but Marcy reached over and grabbed her arm before looking towards Artem. He was already rapidly typing on the computer, their eyes meeting and he gave her the first smile that was meant for comfort. She felt her shoulders droop then looked to the others, who looked terrified. Mrs. and Mr. Boonchuy were tightly holding onto Dr. Jan, who was holding Hope in her arms as she fussed. Mr. and Mrs. Waybright were nervously holding Bea between them while her own parents were holding Liv and Andy respectively and trembling. The other members of the Newtopian Five were close to her parents, but Nora was already almost at their side, her eyes filled with concern.
“Nora?” She whispered, Nora giving her a tight smile and nodding to Artem.
“Go help him Marcy. Sasha, I’ll take care of Anne. She left a gift for you in the long case near the door,” she said softly. Sasha looked like she wanted to protest, but nodded after a shared look, gently passing Anne to Nora. Bossman continued to ramble as Marcy headed over to Artem and Nora tugged out the cuff Artem had abandoned. She slipped it on then slowly sucked in a breath before holding it in as she tugged out a small knife and swiftly sliced one of the runes. The result was instant. The cuff released a loud whining sound then a boom erupted, white energy rushing out and covering both Anne and herself. Bossman flinched and whirled around, the others watching in awe as the light cleared to reveal Nora half slumped over Anne, who was beginning to wake up.
“What…..” Anne whispered lowly, as she slowly blinked awake, her head twisting to look towards the portal, that wavered briefly. Bossman was still looking at her wide eyed and she turned to Nora, her eyes widening when she saw the cracks that had now appeared on her arm and up towards her neck. Blood began leaking from them and Nora smiled weakly, Anne swiftly sitting up and placing her hands on her. “Nora-,” she began before flinching when a loud crash came from outside of the building. Looking over, her jaw dropped as one of the task force members was thrown in and crashed heavily to the ground, their armor mostly dented in their chest and legs, a large lapis lazuli gem on their back pulsing a pale blue.
“Sir…..the bots-,” the person whispered before the large toad bot crashed in, two task force members attached to its arms. It spun and they were flung off, one of them slamming into a table while the other hit part of the battery, which pulse ominously.
“Watch it!” Bossman spat in fury, the bot twisting and locking onto Anne and Nora, it’s hand lifting and a red glow coming from it’s palm.
“GOODBYE CALAMITY HEART.” Anne froze in panic then gasped when a flash of pink sliced off it’s arm.
Heart smiled and waved her hand, beaming when a small portal opened up to where Strength was. She seemed to be speaking to Moony, who was laid out on a therapist’s couch while Voidy cartwheeled around the room in the background. Strength glanced up and gave her a smile before looking curiously at the papers that were presented to her. “Collab?”
“Yup! Last chapter!” Strength perked up at the news then gave her a warm smile and nodded.
“Alright. I’ll pick up now.”
Pink surrounded her body as she balanced on the wall, her eyes narrowed on the bot that was looking at where it’s arm used to be. It turned to face her and she dragged both of her swords together, creating a shower of sparks. Accessing her powers had always been a bit of a struggle, but asking them for help had never really been a thought. Seeing Anne about to die had made her ask frantically for help. Pushing off of the wall and flipping forward, Sasha tightened her grip on the swords, that now began to glow brightly. She landed silently then stepped forward, her eyes darting downwards as her clothing began to change. Black armored boots soon were encasing her feet, while reddish brown armor flickered into existence around her body, red colored tassets swishing as she moved. Her hair was a soft pink color and fanned around her face, which was carved into a scowl. The golden circlet she wore during the rebellion had returned and glowed briefly before she lifted her arm and swung it out. A wave of energy hit the machine and threw it at a wall, Sasha lifting a foot and slamming it down. Another wave of energy darted forward and tore through part of the bot's shoulder, the machine flinching to the side. She moved swiftly, darting forward and disappearing for a brief moment then reappearing around its side and lashing out at its leg, the sword slicing through the metal like a hot knife through butter.
The bot twisted and attempted to punch her, but she crossed both of the swords in front of her as the fist hit, sliding back slightly and snarling in fury. She shoved forward and the bot tumbled into the wall, the concrete giving under its weight. “Stop fighting in here! You’re going to bring the ceiling down!” Bossman howled, Sasha turning and glaring at him. The bot’s head snapped towards her and its eyes flashed once before two beams of red light slammed into her.
“SASHA!” Anne and Marcy cried in alarm, going silent as the smoke cleared and revealed she was standing there unfazed. She scowled deeply and turned, lifting the sword and swinging towards it’s chest.
“STOP! THEIRS A PERSON IN HERE!” Sasha froze, her eyes widening in shock before they narrowed as she sheathed both swords on her hips and reached forward. She grabbed the top of the metal and tugged it apart, revealing a terrified looking Fionna within.
“Fionna?” Sasha mumbled in confusion, grunting when the other bot jumped out from the wreckage behind Fionna and kicked her back into the room. Sasha flew through the air for a short moment before hitting the ground and rolling once then to her feet. She glared as the bot stood protectively in front of the young girl, who was scrambling out of the machine. “Who’s in the other bot?” She demanded, Fionna shifted in place before looking to Bossman for help. Sasha looked to Bossman and found he looked furious, then narrowed her eyes.
“What the fuck is going on?” She snarled, Bossman glaring at Fionna for a long moment before looking cooly at her.
“I read the reports from Frogvasion and what was reported when you all returned from Amphibia. I authorized Project Ascension in hopes of triggering a set of circumstances that would create the ideal environment for Anne to ask for her powers for help. I didn't authorize this attack, but this gave us a chance to test to see if our King Armor could withstand the fighting that you three can do,” he said, Sasha looking at him in shock before sneering.
“What the fuck is your problem?!” She snarled, Bossman sighing heavily and reaching up to rub at his face.
“This is all a mess. Director Tan will understand,” he said before lifting his gun and aiming at Sasha. Before anything could happen, the portal released a loud whining sound then a deafening boom. Sasha whirled around, eyes widening as miniature portals began appearing around everyone, Bossman looking around in horror. “What’s going on?!” He cried, flinching away from the open portal he was near.
“Anne! Grab Nora and get her over here!” Artem yelled, Sasha turning and watching as Anne scooped up the injured woman and tried to run over but stumbled to a stop when a portal appeared in front of her. Sasha began looking around and winced at the sight of everyone panicking.
“Fuck,” she growled, turning to her parents and running over, scooping up her duffel bag as she got to their side. “We have to go!” She called, her eyes widening when one of the portals revealed what seemed to be a rebuilt Southern Tower. “What the…..” she whispered before narrowing her eyes. Turning, she looked to Anne, who had made it to her parent’s side while cradling Nora to her chest. Their eyes met and Sasha gave her a tight smile. “I’m going to the Southern Tower! Wait for me in Wartwood!” She called, Anne nodding. With that, Sasha nodded to the portal and her parents rushed in without hesitation.
Strength hummed as she finished her part, snapping and creating another portal. Heart glanced up from some paperwork and smiled widely when Strength passed her the chapter back, a warm smile aimed at her. “Have fun!” She said before closing the portal, Heart giggling in return.
Anne released a shuddery sigh as Sasha disappeared through the portal and it shut behind her, the young woman turning to her parents and Dr. Jan, who had gathered up their things quickly. “Come on!” She tugged them towards a portal that was displaying a familiar clearing, wincing as Bossman screeched behind her.
“NO!” Her head twisted and she watched Marcy tug her family over to Artem, who was looking at Anne in worry.
“Keep Nora safe!” He yelled, Anne nodding once. He returned it then pressed a series of buttons before waving to a portal that appeared at his side. “Everyone through!” Like that, the Newtopian Five charged in with Marcy and her parents following, Anne sighing weakly when the portal closed. She looked for Mr. X and smiled when she found he was kneeling near the battery and dragging it towards one of the portals. Their eyes met and he nodded to her before she jumped through and into Amphibia with her parents and Dr. Jan. More portals swirled into existence, Mr. X waiting until what looked like a portal to an ocean appeared. He shoved the battery through and moved back, eyes widening when as soon as it passed, all of the chaos stopped. The room was plunged into an eerie silence, Bossman’s face reddening before he turned and glared hatefully at Mr. X.
“Look at what you’ve done!” He roared, beginning to advance before something slammed into his shoulder and tossed him off of his feet. He wheezed and attempted to sit up but a foot was placed on his throat and he looked up, his eyes widening when he found himself looking at Kim Possible.
“End of the line Bossman,” she growled, pressing down harder as he attempted to shove her off.
“What are you doing?!” He howled, the task force attempting to get up and move in, but the doors to the room opened and two tired figures marched in.
“What a fucking mess you’ve caused Bossman,” a tired and annoyed voice said, the man looking over and staring as Director Tan and Director Ti marched forward, eyes narrowing in fury. “Where are the girls?” She asked slowly, eyes rolling around to the assembled.
“They went through the portal ma’am,” Captain Pearl reported, Director Tan scowling openly at her.
“Who told you to use the King Armor?” She demanded, Captain Pearl seeming to hesitate before bowing her head slightly.
“Bossman ma’am.”
“Director Tan-,” Bossman began before flinching when the woman looked at him furiously.
“We lost two agents because of you,” she snarled, Bossman furrowing his brow in confusion while Director Ti straightened up and looked to the task force.
“You all fall back to the western facility. Report what you’ve done to Director Diamond,” Director Ti ordered, Captain Pearl stiffening up but nodding.
“Yes sir.” The group picked themselves up and saluted the two directors before filing into line and marching out. Kim moved back and off of Bossman before looking at Director Tan and Director Ti in concern.
“So they’re stuck in Amphibia?” She asked, tugging out her communicator while Director Ti sighed and nodded.
“Give the updates to Mr. and former Mrs. Waybright’s families. We’re just going to have to wait for the girls to come home on their own,” he began, Terri moving forward.
“Wait! The computers have all of the plans for the portal. We can rebuild it,” they said weakly but Director Ti was already pointing at it.
“You mean the computer that’s currently on fire?” He asked flatly, Terri looking over then gasping in horror.
“No! I….” They whispered in distress, Ally and Jess walking over and scowling at the Director.
“We’ll only join temporarily for you and you need to get Dr. Jan rehired at the museum, Asshole over there got her fired,” Ally said, Director Ti cracking a smile for the first time since he had arrived.
“Of course. Kim! Please take these three out of here. OH! Miss and Mister Mertins. You two don’t try to move. You two and Miss Bubblegum have a lot to answer for!” The director called out, both Fionna and the bot freezing near the opening that led out of the building. Bossman scrambled to his feet and everyone glanced at him, the man dusting off his suit jacket.
“You both must understand,” he began, flinching as Director Tan whirled around to face him, her eyes darkening as she growled furiously.
“I don’t have to do jackshit! You fucked up!” She snapped, the man recoiling then swallowing thickly.
“You don’t understand the type of energy those three can produce! They could power cities!” He cried desperately, Mr. X clearing his throat and moving forward. They all looked to him and he frowned while tucking his arms behind his back.
“Their powers can’t be harnessed like he thinks. Yes, Miss Boonchuy powered the battery temporarily but the item was unstable and if left here, would have exploded and wiped out three city blocks,” he reported, Bossman’s face twisting in fury.
“That’s a goddamn lie! Those girls are literal batteries! Anne is meant-,” he ranted before Director Ti looked to Kim and snapped. Kim put her communicator away before heading over and grabbing Bossman by the wrist swiftly and yanking it behind his back. “Release me this instant!” He screeched, Kim rolling her eyes and beginning to march him towards the exit. As the man screamed, Director Tan looked to Mr. X and smiled lightly then waved a hand.
“I’m sorry for how stressful this has been for all parties involved. X. From here on out you will be known as X Factor. The girls, upon their return and proper introduction into our lovely Organization, will be your agents to do with what you see fit. Congrats on the promotion. For now……take a vacation, you deserve it,” he said, Mr. X’s eyes widening before he smiled lightly.
“Thank you very much sir!” He said quickly, Miss A scowling at him and drawing the attention of Director Tan.
“Oh! Don’t think we forgot you A. You’ve been a thorn in my and many other’s side since you were hired by former Bossman. You are hereby fired effective immediately and under arrest for conspiracy to murder Miss Anne Boonchuy, Miss Marcy Wu, and Miss Sasha Waybright,” Director Tan said, Miss A’s mouth falling open in shock and horror.
“Wait ma’am! What about Mr. X?! He was helping us as well!” She cried, Director Ti raising a brow.
“How did you think we got here so fast? X Factor called us as soon as Bossman started threatening people.” Miss A stared at the two in shock and horror, another agent jogging in and glancing at her idly.
“Ma’am, Sir. We’ve apprehended Miss Bubblegum. She’s at processing at the base,” they said before focusing on Miss A when Director Tan waved to her.
“Please take Miss A into custody.” The agent marched over and grabbed the catatonic woman, then began dragging her out of the room while both directors turned to Mr. X.
“You are dismissed for now X Factor. We’ll start the process of changing your credentials and getting Miss Wong and Miss Baker added to your roster as well as Dr. Jan as soon as possible. She deserves a bit of a strip end for when she returns,” Director Ti said, the man nodding and turning to Ally and Jess, then nodding to the exit. They nodded in return and rushed out while Terri stood almost awkwardly near the two directors.
“What about me?” They asked in a small voice, the two glancing at them for a long moment.
“You’ve really been in the dark this whole time?” Director Tan asked, Terri nodding swiftly. The woman hummed then rolled her eyes and waved to two agents, who slipped out of the shadows towards Fionna and her brother, who were standing in the corner terrified. “Go take care of them and as for you Mx Fawkes…..you’ll be assigned to X Factor’s team on a probationary status. He wants you gone, then you’re gone. Got it?” Director Tan growled, Terri nodding then fleeing the area. With that handled to the two Directors turned to face one another, Director Ti chuckling while Director Tan rubbed at her eyes.
“Well…..we have our work cut out for us,” Director Ti joked, Director Tan reaching up and rubbing at her eyes.
“We know Bossman’s idea had merit. That much can be seen, but do you think what X Factor said in true as well? We saw what Miss Boonchuy was capable of,” She said lowly, the man shrugging halfheartedly.
“The battery was going to explode as far as I could tell. X Factor did us a favor by dumping it into Amphibia. We should focus on getting on their good side before we try talking to them about powering cities alright?” He said, Director Tan grunting and nodding.
“God. This is such a fucking mess,” she grumble, the man looking at her sympathetically and patting her shoulder.
“Yup but at least it’s over for now.”
“Yeah……for now.”
Sighing softly in satisfaction, Heart gingerly placed the last chapter into the end of the book and waved a hand, beaming when it transformed. With the new universe complete, she placed it on the shelf behind her then looked up, beaming as Strength and Wit marched in. They were dressed casually for once, Strength fiddling with a clipboard while Wit beamed at her. “Story’s all done?” She asked, Heart nodding and getting up.
“All done. Are the girls at Home?” She asked, the two nodding. “Great! Let’s get everyone together for a celebration! I can take a short break then jump into Back in Amphibia,” she said before getting up. With a nod, the three headed through the library and out, Wit waving a hand. Banners began appearing in Newtwood while fireworks began going off, Strength and Heart snorting.
“Nice. I’ll go grab everyone,” Strength said, leaning over and kissing Heart’s cheek then Wit’s forehead. They waved as she floated off then began talking and walking towards where Home was, three stars streaking overhead and going missed by the three.
The Mountain of Strength was calm, heat pulsing around and warding off most otherworldly visitors. As the party raged on in the small town close by, a small puddle of lava began forming at the base of the trail that led up towards the mountain. The puddle began growing before slowly, a pink clawed hand appeared and twisted about, reaching down and tugging. It was a slow process, but a pink body and battle damaged armor appeared before a small pink toad was soon kneeling on the path. Panting, the toad grumbled then looked up, blue eyes surveying the area before the toad got up and looked towards the Temple of Wit. Their eyes narrowed before widening and they took off running. Their armor jingled as they jogged, eventually coming to the temple path and running up it. They got to the top and froze at the sight of the large green newt, that was seated on the ground and pressing their face to their knees. “Marcy,” the toad whispered, their voice soft and feminine. The newt lifted their head and looked back, tears within their brown eyes, which was covered by shaggy black hair.
“Sasha?” She whispered, the toad sighing then running over and hugging her the best she could.
“You’re okay,” she whispered, the newt’s face twisting before she shook her head.
“No. We died. Anne…..Anne died then we died. We couldn’t save Earth or Amphibia. The Core won,” she said weakly, the toad moving back in alarm.
“What?”
“Anne sacrificed herself to save Amphibia, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Core. They…..they destroyed Amphibia then used the rest of their energy to take me back. I watched as they traveled to Earth and destroyed everything in revenge. Some of the Core decided I wasn’t worth keeping around and….” She said weakly before sobbing hard, Sasha’s shoulder’s dropping before she shook her head and hugged her tightly again.
“Don’t cry. Everything is going to be okay,” she said softly, even if her own heart was pounding in fear and worry.
“Marcy? Sasha?” She heard, the two looking over and finding a small blue frog was rushing towards them.
“Anne!” The frog jumped forward and the newt opened her arms wide, scooping her and Sasha up into a bone breaking hug. The three held one another for a long moment before breaking away and looking around nervously.
“Where are we?” Anne asked, balancing on Marcy’s shoulders, the newt gently taking her tail and twisting it slightly in her grip.
“I….don’t know. I woke up here,” she said weakly.
“I woke up near that mountain that looks like the Mountain of Strength,” she said, reaching over and stopping the newt.
“Well…..I woke up near a library. Maybe we can check that place out?” Anne suggested. Marcy and Sasha glancing at one another but nodding. The small group got up and together, began moving towards the library, missing the three ominous figures that seemed to be staring at them from within the Temple of Wit.
