Chapter Text
The living room in Grimmauld place was cold. Very cold. But not because the temperature had dropped. The fireplace and the warming spells made sure it was nice and cozy. Even worse, the thick green and silver wool sweater with a big letter S across his chest (knitted by Molly Weasley herself as a christmas present years ago) was making Scorpious Hyperion Malfoy feel like he was in a furnace. He truly wanted to take it off so he’d stop sweating so much, but somehow he felt like that action might be misinterpreted and make his current predicament worse. Maybe he was overthinking, after all, that was one of his many talents.
Beside him was his very pissed off, now-not-so-secret-girlfriend, Lily Potter. Arms crossed, whilst she sustained a very serious staring contest with her brother James, who had decided to leave the talking to Albus and Teddy Lupin (who now had red hair and freckles to restate his position as an honorary Potter sibling in everything but name).
“Scorpius, how could you? After everything this family has done for you, after what I have done for you! I gave you friendship! Invited you into my family! Defended you to my uncles who didn't trust you!” Said Albus dramatically “And this is how you repay me? By snogging my only sister?”
He talked with sharp movements and slammed his hand on the coffee table dramatically. Behind him Rose, Hugo and the rest of the younger Weasley Clan snickered and chuckled, clearly finding Scorpius’ troubles nothing less than amusing.
Truthfully the only ones who were taking this weird situation somewhat seriously were James, Albus and Lily. That meant that Scorpius, as Lily’s boyfriend, Albus’ best friend and source of all disputes, had to also be serious.
“Okay Al…. let's take a deep breath” Intervened Teddy in a soothing tone, clearly trying but failing to suppress a laugh, then turning around to face the couple “So… how long has this been going on?”
Lily still refused to talk to her brothers, so it was on Scorpius to answer
“Somewhat over 6 months…” Responded Scorpius softly in his pristine posh accent at which James rolled his eyes. In the back Roxanne Weasley extended her hand with a triunfant smile as her siblings and cousins begrudgenly surrendered sickles, knots and even muggle bills.
“6 months?! And were you ever planning on telling me?!” Asked Albus who had barely calmed down
“Maybe if you didn’t react like a psycho freak?” Replied Lily standing up “Can you and James be normal for once? Why is this a big deal, you absolute git?!” She then turned to Teddy accusingly “And you?! Why are you even enabling this? You are a grown ass man with a very very pregnant wife! Bigger fish to fry, Teddy!”
Teddy just shrugged as he gave his cousin-in-law a few coins and a chocolate bar.
“Listen Lily, think of it as a little hazing, an initiation into the family” He smirked carelessly “You dad and uncles did the same to me when Vicky and first got together”
“What?!” Said the Potter siblings at the same time
“This is not an initiation!” Said Albus and James, whilst Lily at the same time said “You are not hazing my boyfriend!”
The rest of the Weasley cousins just snickered and Lily turned to them irritated.
“And what are you all even doing here? This is not a show! Go away before I bat-boogie hex you all into oblivion!”
Maybe now was not the time, but Scorpius always found Lily incredibly hot when she got angry. Merlin, he loved a woman with a short fuse. Specifically, he loved this volatile firecracker of a woman. It must’ve shown on his face because at some point Albus just turned to him with a tired but disgusted expression.
“Listen mate, I’m sorry, I find it gross that you are dating my sister, I’ll learn to live with it, I guess, but please, for the love of all sane and holy… just…” He sighted in defeat “Will you please stop starring at her like she is a piece of meat?!”
