Chapter Text
In that moment, lying beneath the shade of the palms with three sleeping children draped across him and his wife curled into his side, Harvey’s mind drifted — not with panic, but with purpose — a fourth, another little life to love. In the space of a few seconds, he was already running through the logistics: they’d turn the playroom into a nursery again, get a bigger car to fit four car seats — sweet baby Jesus — start researching daycares close to the kids’ school. But more than that, he was thinking about all the things he would do to make this baby’s life just as full, safe, and loved as his siblings' lifes, because that’s what mattered.
He thought about the way he’d shown up for his sons’ games — and every single one after — when his own father wasn’t often there, too busy with his tour to bother. He remembered the way he sat front row during Leo’s kindergarten recital, clapping louder than anyone else in the room, even though Leo only had one line and missed half his cue. He thought about how every scraped knee, every bad dream, every silly fight over toys was met not with cold dismissal or guilt-tripping, but with open arms and quiet understanding — the kind he had never known as a child. He never raised his voice unless he absolutely had to — which was almost never — he never let any of them go to bed angry, not without fixing it, he never made them feel like they were a burden, he never made them feel small.
And he loved them out loud, every single day, with hugs, with patience, with effort — with presence — something his own parents sometimes forgot because he knew what it felt like to grow up in silence. To live in a house where you tiptoed instead of played, where love was conditional and affection was a reward you had to earn. He’d vowed the day Romeo called him daddy for the first time — quietly, hesitantly, like he was asking for permission — that none of his kids would ever wonder if they were wanted — they would always know. And now… there would be one more. He smiled at that thought, brushing his fingers lightly over Donna’s hand where it rested on her stomach, anchoring himself in the moment — in this wildly unexpected, beautiful life he’d built with her.
He was so busy becoming the man he’d never had growing up, that he hadn’t noticed he’d also become the man he never thought he could be and somewhere, he couldn’t help but think of Jessica. His mentor, who had thought she was punishing him by making him coach a peewee baseball team as penance for a fight he now barely remembered. That woman, who thought she was forcing him to slow down, to reflect, to find humility, but what she’d really done… was to give him purpose and he couldn’t thank her enough for it. And in that moment, as he watched his children sleep peacefully, Harvey knew that being a father wasn’t just about giving them everything he never had — it was about being the father he wished he’d had. With Donna by his side, the love of his life, he finally understood that true strength wasn’t in protecting them from the world, but in showing them that they were worthy of all the love and happiness they deserved. Only, if Harvey had only seen the positive side of their fourth child's arrival, he might have forgotten to think about the practical side and daily organization.
« Hey, how are you? »
« I’m on autopilot mode — you? » whispered Donna.
« I can't tell if I'm asleep or awake »
As Harvey sighed with a small smile, he observed the scene for a moment and realized that the night couldn’t get any worse — at least that’s what he thought.
« I’ve made an appointment with the pediatrician for both of them tomorrow at 3 PM — should I leave work earlier, or are you going wih the girls? » whispered Donna.
« I’ll go, don’t worry. My client meeting ends at 2, and then I — »
At that moment, he was interrupted by crying from across the house, and both of them sighed. It was now past 11 o'clock, and Donna was sitting against the headboard, distracting Aria with her fingers and the diamonds sparkling on them, as the three months old baby was lying in her co-sleeper still awake. In the meantime, Harvey was sitting next to his wife, rocking Elena, who was sobbing in his arms due to teething pain. While the parents had been relieved that most of her teeth had already come through, they had overlooked the thirty-month mark — the stage of the dreaded second molars, known to be the most painful part of teething. So, after a gum massage — an art Harvey had now become quite the expert in — they gave their two-and-a-half-year-old a chilled teething ring, watching her chew on it with a sniffle. But even with half the little tribe already tucked into their parents’ bed, both Harvey and Donna let out a long sigh as they looked at each other, whispering in unison.
« Leo… »
The distant crying sounded more like that of a toddler than a pre-teen, and as the sobs grew louder, Harvey sighed again, kissed Elena’s forehead, and gently placed her in Donna’s arms before kissing his wife in turn and leaving the bed. As Donna supported Elena with one arm, the other continued to softly wave in front of baby Aria’s wide-eyed stare, the sparkle of her rings catching the infant's attention. Once on his feet, Harvey left the parents’ area and quietly climbed the stairs of their Upper East Side townhouse. He passed the second floor, where the girls' rooms were — though for now, only Elena occupied hers, since Aria still slept in the master bedroom. Without pausing, he continued up to the fourth floor, where the boys’ rooms were located. As he reached the landing, the soft cries became clearer — but oddly, they weren’t coming from Leo’s room — instead, the sound was coming from Romeo’s. Frowning slightly, Harvey stepped inside and found Leo curled up on his older brother’s bed, his small body trembling, cheeks soaked with tears. At the sight of his father, Leo sat up with a sudden sob and threw his arms out, crying even louder.
« Daddy »
« Hey, what’s going on? »
« Nightmare »
« Again? Come on, stop crying, I’m here now — it’s fine »
As he picked Leo up, the little boy clung tightly to his father, still sobbing into his neck and with one arm wrapped around his younger son, Harvey reached out with his free hand and gently ran it through Romeo’s hair, murmuring softly.
« Sorry he woke you »
« It’s fine — are you taking him to your bed? »
« Yeah »
« Can I come too? »
Though he was now ten years old and far from being a little kid like his brother and sisters, Romeo still craved closeness and attention. He was deeply attached to his parents, and despite his age, they continued to care for him just as tenderly as the younger ones — after all, he was still Mommy and Daddy’s baby. So with a smile, Harvey replied softly.
« Well, Aria and Elena are already in our bed, so you’re welcome to join the family reunion »
With a soft laugh exchanged between them, Harvey left the room, Romeo trailing behind in his navy blue Ralph Lauren pajamas as the lawyer carefully descended the stairs with Leo in his arms, the top of the boy’s dinosaur pajamas damp from tears. After making his way down two floors, Harvey stepped into the parents’ floor and finally entered the bedroom, where Donna looked up with a soft, tired smile.
« Leo… what’s going on? »
« Nightmare » he sniffled.
« Oh — and he woke you up too, baby? »
« It’s fine » Romeo said with a little smile, making Donna’s heart melt.
Immediately, Romy climbed onto the bed, crawling toward his mother and sisters, while Harvey gently set Leo down on the mattress, where he curled up next to Donna, mimicking her posture. With all four children now gathered around Donna, Harvey stood there for a moment, smiling as memories of the past six years flooded his mind.
After that sun-soaked vacation when Harvey had found out he was going to be a father again, the couple had fallen back into the now-familiar routine — paperwork, work schedules, school drop-offs, daycare logistics, shopping runs, ultrasounds — it was their fourth child, after all, by now, they knew the drill. But things shifted one afternoon when Donna, five months pregnant and lounging on the couch with her swollen belly, was reading a book to Elena while Harvey assembled the crib that would temporarily stay in the living room. Everything had seemed perfectly normal — until Leo tripped over the mountain of blocks scattered across the floor, accidentally dragging Romeo down with him, and both boys crashed into the freshly built crib as Donna and Harvey exchanged a look — it was time to move. Sure, their condo was spacious. Everyone had their own room, a small walk-in closet, and their own little bathroom, but the layout was starting to feel cramped, spaces blurred into each other, and they desperately needed a proper backyard for the boys to run around in. So, with three kids in tow — and a fourth on the way — they began house hunting as it didn’t take long before they found it: a massive townhouse that had made Donna’s eyes widen the moment she stepped inside. Though the redhead had initially found it a bit over the top, in truth, it was exactly what their growing family needed.
The ground floor had been transformed into a sort of waiting room and large home office, with huge windows looking out onto the garden — allowing Harvey to cut back on his hours at the firm and work from home while keeping an eye on the boys playing outside. The first floor was home to the kitchen, living room, and dining area — spacious enough to hold a large table and a couch big enough for six — as it also featured a small play area, Donna’s childhood piano, and a playpen for Aria. The second floor was reserved for the parents — a grand bedroom with an enormous walk-in closet, a spa-like bathroom, and even a cozy mini library for Donna as just above, the third floor belonged to the girls. Each had her own room, bathroom, and closet — because even at three and thirty months, they somehow owned just as many clothes as their mother thanks to Daddy’s shopping sessions. And finally, the fourth floor was the boys’ domain. It had the same layout as the girls’ — separate bedrooms, private bathrooms, and closets — except the large hallway that connected their rooms had unofficially become a baseball field, much to Donna’s dismay as she fretted over her pristine white walls.
The couple had moved in quickly after Harvey paid a hefty sum to have contractors transform the townhouse into the home of their dreams. And now, watching the four children gathered around Donna, Harvey couldn’t help but feel grateful that this spacious bedroom had been able to accommodate such a massive king-size bed — because apparently, they’d be sleeping six in it tonight. As he looked over at his wife with a knowing, suggestive glance, Donna snorted, instantly understanding what he was thinking.
« They're not going to want to » she said flatly.
« Babe, Aria still wakes up at least twice a night. She’s going to wake them all up »
« Oh? And you want to try putting them back in their beds, maybe? Go ahead — be my guest »
Wanting to prove he was still the man of the house — a macho instinct that surfaced now and then just to impress the redhead — Harvey stepped closer to the bed, casting a look at the children before leaning in with a soft smile.
« Alright, babies, give mommy a kiss. Time to head back to your own beds, okay? »
He had barely finished the sentence when Leo turned in Donna’s arms and burst into tears, Elena started sobbing beside him, and Aria began to fuss in her co-sleeper, stirred by the sound of her siblings whining. Immediately, Donna raised an eyebrow and gave him that unmistakable I told you so look, her mouth curled in a smug little smile as Harvey let out a quiet sigh, muttering with a smirk.
« I’ll turn off the lights, then »
With a shared look of complicity between them, and the children now sensing they’d won, everyone began settling in under the covers, giggling softly as Harvey and Donna each took a side of the bed, children nestled in between, and before long, the room quieted as they all drifted off to sleep. That night was anything but restful — between Aria waking up for her bottle (and waking up the others in the process), Elena crying from teething pain, and Leo somehow managing to switch sleeping positions at least seven times — both parents woke up in a daze the next morning. But any lingering exhaustion was quickly pushed aside, after all, the day was waiting, and the chaos had only just begun.
« Leo, what are you doing? » gasped Harvey.
« Did you see, Daddy? Yankees! » the little boy shouted with joy.
« Yes, I saw. And what happened to the beautiful outfit Mommy picked out for you? »
« Oh my God, Harv! He’s not ready yet? We have to leave in half an hour and they still need to eat »
As Donna exclaimed when she entered the dining room, Aria balanced on one hip, Elena at her side, and a plate of pancakes in the other hand, Harvey sighed, turning to look at his son proudly wearing the family’s favorite team jersey, paired with nothing but a pair of boxers, his skinny legs on full display.
« Well, he was dressed until he decided to switch up his style for the day… Leo, come on, let’s go put on your actual school outfit. Let’s go »
As Romeo took his seat at the table and Donna got Elena into her high chair and settled Aria into the bouncer on the table, Harvey took charge of wrangling Leo upstairs and after some minor resistance — Leo clearly preferring the boxers-and-jersey combo — the father managed to get him back into his striped pants and simple white t-shirt. Moments later, the two of them came back down, Leo still looking slightly betrayed by the wardrobe change, and joined the others at the breakfast table. Amid the usual morning chaos and overlapping conversations, the family dug into breakfast before pulling on sweaters, shoes, and making their way out to the car.
« Everyone ready? » Harvey called out.
« Yeah! »
« We have all four bags? » he murmured to Donna as they headed toward the door.
Donna did a quick visual check: a simple navy backpack for Romeo, a dinosaur bag for Leo, a pale pink fuzzy mini backpack with white polka dots for Elena, and a beige diaper bag with tiny hearts for Aria — everything seemed in order.
« Yep »
« Let’s go then »
With the whole family now seated in the large seven-seater family black Range Rover, Harvey made sure everyone was properly buckled in and ready to go. All the way in the back, Romeo had his seatbelt on, and Leo was strapped into his booster seat while Elena was secured in her forward-facing car seat, while Aria sat in her rear-facing one, quietly playing with the strap of her harness. Once everyone was safely buckled in, Harvey started the car, and the morning rush began — first stop: the daycare, just two blocks from the older kids’ school. Donna dropped off Aria after covering her face in kisses, lingering just a moment before they were back on the road. Next was Caedmon School, where — thankfully — the other three children all attended. With the kids dropped off and the car finally quiet, the couple enjoyed a rare moment of calm together, chatting softly as they drove until they pulled up in front of Donna’s school, Harvey leaned in and whispered gently against her lips.
« Have a good day, honey »
« You too — I love you »
« I love you too. Bye »
With one last kiss, Donna stepped out of the massive SUV and disappeared into the building, leaving Harvey to drive off toward the firm — finally ready to start his workday.
With four kids, Harvey had to learn to strike a balance between family life and work, while still making enough money to provide them with a quality life. After negotiating with Jessica, Harvey reduced his work hours and specialized in high-net-worth clients with complex issues, earning a reputation in the field. His days now alternated between changing diapers, client meetings, feeding bottles, court sessions, baseball games, contract drafting, living room dance recitals, and negotiations — and god, he loved it. Even though Harvey expertly juggled his roles as husband, father, and lawyer, there was one rule he always stuck to: never mix his professional and personal lives. In fact, no one at the office really knew anything. Sure, his wedding band — worn for nearly six years — had led some employees to assume he was married, but given his cold, tyrannical demeanor at work, no one would have imagined he had children. Let alone four.
But after a long, intense day filled with calls and client emails, Harvey quickly left the office as soon as he saw the time. He headed down to the parking garage, picked up the SUV with tinted rear windows, and drove straight to the school. With Elena now in the Early Program for Three-Year-Olds, he was able to pick her up as early as two o’clock and the moment the little girl spotted her father, she lit up and called out.
« Daddy! »
« Hey, my little princess — how are you? »
« All good! »
« How was her day? » he asked the teacher.
« Perfectly fine. Today was music and intro to science — everything went smoothly. She ate well and took a little nap too. No issues at all as usual »
« I’m glad, then. Come on, say goodbye to Miss Giana, we’re going to pick up Aria at daycare »
« Bye bye, Miss Giana! »
« Bye Elena — see you tomorrow. Goodbye, Mr. Specter »
After the brief goodbyes, Harvey helped Elena with her coat, lifted her into his arms, and buckled her into the car before heading off to the daycare. Once there, he smiled again at the sound of Aria’s high-pitched babbling when she recognized him and after a quick debrief on the baby’s day, he thanked the caregiver and secured both girls in the backseat.
« Daddy? »
« Yes, Ellie? »
« Where are we going? »
« Well, we’re going to say hello to Dr. Esposito » smiled Harvey.
« Me and Aria? » the toddler gasped.
« Yep. We’re going to show her how perfect you both are »
As Elena giggled and turned toward her sister, Aria babbled happily in response while Harvey couldn’t help but smile at the two of them, their little voices filling the car. Hearing his daughters — so much like their mother in both face and spirit — warmed his heart in a way nothing else could. They soon arrived at the small clinic where their pediatrician worked and with two kids and one strategically planned appointment — courtesy of Donna — Harvey got Aria out of her seat and took Elena’s hand, walking the girls toward the reception desk as he spoke to the woman.
« Hi, I have an appointment for my daughters — Elena and Aria Specter »
« What time, please? »
« Three o’clock. It’s for their three and thirty-month well-visit »
« Perfect, I see it here. May I have your ID and insurance card? »
« Sure, here you go »
« Thank you. Please take a seat — the doctor will call you in shortly »
« Thanks »
After collecting his documents, Harvey took a seat in the waiting area, Elena quickly running over to the play corner, eager to show her dad every toy she could find, while Aria sat calmly in his arms, staring up at him with her wide hazel-green eyes and a tiny smile that melted him completely as Harvey couldn’t resist peppering her little nose with soft kisses. But just as the room settled into peaceful silence, his phone buzzed — Jessica’s name lighting up the screen — as he sighed but picked up.
« Hello? »
« Harvey, where are you? »
« Busy »
« We need you at the office »
« I don’t think so. I told you — I’m busy »
« Harvey, this isn’t optional. This case could blow up — press, headlines, the whole thing »
« Jessica, today isn’t going to work »
« Well, figure something out and get here as soon as you can »
As the doctor’s door opened, Harvey looked down at his two girls, sighed, and murmured quickly to his boss.
« Give me an hour »
Without waiting for a response, he hung up, stood, called Elena over, and the three of them walked into the pediatrician’s office. It was a routine check-up — one Harvey had done more times than he could count, even just last week for the boys — so he answered each question with practiced precision — until halfway through, the doctor paused and looked at him with a smile.
« Everything looks great today — both your girls are doing beautifully as usual »
« I’m glad »
« Aria is growing right on track — she's alert, engaged, and clearly very loved. She's meeting all her 3-month milestones, and I’m not seeing any concerns at all. Keep doing what you’re doing — it’s working »
« Alright » smiled Harvey.
« And Elena — she’s thriving. Her language is ahead for her age, and her social and motor development are exactly where we’d hope. She's curious, confident, and clearly very secure emotionally. You can tell she feels safe and well supported »
« Well, we’re doing our best »
« You're doing a fantastic job, Dad. If you have any questions between now and the next visit, don’t hesitate to call us. But for now — keep enjoying your girls. They’re thriving »
After thanking the doctor, Harvey left the clinic and secured the girls in their car seats again, his mind racing. Donna was busy with the boys at baseball practice, and given the time, they were likely right in the middle of training. He couldn’t just drop Elena and Aria off and leave her to handle all four kids alone — not when she would probably be the one doing dinner, baths, pajamas, bedtime stories, and prepping lunch boxes solo tonight because of Jessica’s mysterious call. And as much as he never wanted anyone at work to know about his children — too afraid that someone might one day use his greatest weakness against him in court — he wanted even less for his wife to carry the entire load without support.
So he sat behind the wheel for a few seconds, thinking, and then, with a decisive breath, he started the engine and pulled out of the parking lot, heading straight toward the firm. If people were going to find out, so be it — he wasn’t ashamed — not in the slightest, and if anyone dared use his children as leverage, they’d find themselves up against a version of Harvey Specter they wouldn’t soon forget. As soon as he pulled into the building’s parking garage, Harvey got the girls out of the car. Aria’s soft cotton overalls, patterned with little blue flowers, stood in stark contrast to Harvey’s sharp three-piece suit. At his side, Elena walked calmly, wearing dark loose jeans, red sneakers, and a matching red cardigan, as the father smiled at her.
« We’re going to Daddy’s work »
« Daddy’s work? » Elena gasped, eyes wide.
« Yep — are you ready? »
« Yeah! »
He didn’t even need to remind Elena to behave — she was the embodiment of calm — and although Aria was still just a baby and couldn’t fully control her movements, she seemed to follow her big sister’s lead, just as serene and sweet. If he’d had Romeo and Leo with him, Harvey might have had to issue a quick reminder that they weren’t on a baseball field, but this time, he simply stepped into the elevator, glancing down at his two daughters smiling up at him, Elena’s tiny hand in his, Aria cuddling against him. When the doors opened on the sixtieth floor, the reaction was immediate — surprised stares, quiet gasps, and the unmistakable sound of murmurs spreading through the office as Harvey Specter walked through the hallway... with two little girls at his side. Without paying any attention to the stares, Harvey continued walking straight toward Jessica’s office and from a distance, he saw the brunette rise from her chair with a faint, sheepish smile — clearly realizing that he hadn’t had any other choice. She quickly made her way toward him, just as Harvey let out a sigh.
« This better be important »
« Follow me » she said simply.
For a few seconds, they walked in silence down the hallway, adjusting to Elena’s slower pace as the little girl couldn’t help but take in everything around her with wide, curious eyes as a few seconds later, Jessica leaned slightly toward Harvey and murmured with a small, amused smile.
« They’re beautiful »
« Thank you » smiled Harvey.
« I’m guessing that’s what mom looks like? »
« Yeah — just… 5’9” »
« I see »
Jessica had never seen, or even heard much about, Harvey’s wife or children — which spoke volumes about how private he was when it came to his personal life — so yes, this really was the first time she was seeing a part of that world. Well, she did know that Harvey was married probably to the infamous hot mom from t-ball and she had put two and two together when the first child appeared on his HR documents under a NYPFL Adoption Forms. Then came the paperwork: first a Leave Request Form, then a New York Paid Family Leave form, followed by various benefits documents — not once, but a second time, and then a third. By now, Jessica had figured it out: her protégé had four children, and from the look of it, half of them were with him right now.
As they continued down the hall, Harvey finally stopped in front of the large glass-walled conference room as he sighed the moment he saw the lineup of men seated inside — realizing this was more serious than he’d anticipated. Immediately, everyone turned with wide eyes as he stepped in, Aria still in his arms while Elena, without hesitation, reached for her sister, and Harvey sat down with both girls nestled against him. He then turned slowly toward Louis, who was still staring at him in disbelief, and growled under his breath.
« Give me a piece of paper and a pencil »
« Right away » Louis stammered.
Quickly, Louis handed over the supplies. Harvey placed them in front of Elena and leaned down to whisper something in her ear — a soft instruction to draw, which she eagerly followed. As soon as she began scribbling, Harvey looked up at the group, eyes sharp and voice low, but laced with authority.
« I’m here now. So shall we begin? »
After half an hour, despite the presence of his two little girls in the room — Aria dozing off in his arms and Elena shooting him increasingly bored glances — Harvey eventually interrupted the man speaking with a low murmur.
« Is this going to take much longer? »
« Probably another hour or two » Jessica replied calmly.
« Jesus… one moment, then »
Without another word, Harvey tapped quickly on his phone, sending a message to his wife as he tucked the device away and refocused on the discussion as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, Donna was leaving the bleachers with Leo at her side, when Romeo came running toward her with a huge grin on his face.
« Did you see that, Mommy? »
« You were amazing! » gasped Leo.
« Really? » giggled Romy, glowing.
« Yeah, it was awesome, baby » Donna smiled, ruffling their hair.
As the boys continued to chatter excitedly and recap their practice, Donna’s phone buzzed as she glanced down, surprised to see a message from Harvey — and even more surprised by what it said.
Baby, had to go into work for an emergency. I’ve got the girls with me but it’s taking longer than expected. Can you come grab them? You can hang out in my office until I’m done.
She immediately understood — Harvey never mixed work and home life unless he absolutely had to — so turning toward the boys with a smile, she gently ran her fingers through their hair as she talked.
« Boys, we’re not heading straight home. We need to make a quick stop at Daddy’s office to pick up Aria and Ellie »
« We’re going to Daddy’s work? » Romeo gasped.
« This is the first time! So cool! » yelled Leo, his face lighting up.
Facing their reaction, she couldn’t help but chuckle before Donna grabbed both of their hands, sport bag slung over her shoulder and their little school backpacks bouncing on their backs, while she ordered an Uber to take them to the firm. She’d never actually set foot in the building either — not once in all these years — so when they arrived and the car pulled up in front of the towering glass structure, Donna helped the boys out and led them inside. They headed straight to the elevators, Donna knowing Harvey’s office was on the sixtieth floor and once the doors closed behind them, alone in the lift with her two bundles of chaos, she leaned down and started giving them instructions — because with these two little troublemakers, you had to get ahead of the storm.
« My babies, please, calm down in the office because it's all adults here and it's very serious — deal? »
« Deal » the kids replied together.
Quickly, the doors opened, and Donna stepped out with the two children, walking toward the reception desk as the receptionist looked at the redhead with surprise, clearly taken aback by the sight of children.
« Hello? »
« Hi, can you tell me where Harvey Specter's office is? »
« Do you have an appointment? He's currently busy, so I’m not sure I can let you through »
« I’m on the authorized list »
« Your name? »
« Donna Specter... his wife — he called me »
« Oh, sure — right, mmh... he's apparently in a meeting room, it's down the hall to the right. You'll see it, it's all glass »
« Thank you »
After grabbing the boys' hands again, the two of them politely said goodbye to the receptionist before heading toward the indicated direction. A few steps away, Aria began to whimper in Harvey's arms, probably from hunger, while Elena squirmed against him, wrapping her little arms around his neck and gently squeezing as if trying to get his attention. But just as he was about to ask for a quick break, he heard a knock on the glass door, and as everyone turned to look at the new arrival, Harvey smiled when he saw his wife.
« Sorry to interrupt — Harv? »
She looked absolutely stunning — her long red hair cascaded in waves, and she wore a light blue and white striped Ralph Lauren shirt tucked into wide-leg beige pants, highlighting her slim waist that would never suggest she had given birth to four children, the most recent only three months ago. She was radiant, effortlessly classy, making Harvey feel so proud to have such a beautiful and perfect woman by his side. But before he could even get up, Elena squirmed down from his lap, running toward the older redhead as fast as her little legs could carry her, and everyone quickly understood who she was.
« Mommy! »
Aside from the huge diamond on Donna's finger, the two little girls who had been sitting on Harvey's lap looked like two peas in a pod with the woman who had just arrived. Moreover, while the two girls made it clear to the people around the table that she was indeed the wife and mother of these two children, everyone was stunned to realize that there were not just two, but four kids, as the little boys looked at their father with the same arrogant smile but still had the same features as the redhead — the only difference being that the eldest had auburn hair, the second one was dirty blonde, the third was light strawberry blonde, and the youngest had dark strawberry blonde hair — a gradient of colors, but all with the same face. Without waiting, Harvey stood up, not even apologizing, with Aria still in his arms, and he walked out, completely forgetting the presence of his colleagues and the fact that they were witnessing the scene through the open door and the glass surrounding the office.
« Hey you two »
« Daddy! »
« How was the practice? »
As Harvey quickly handed the smallest child to Donna, kissing his wife tenderly and whispering a brief greeting against her lips, the lawyer refocused on the two little boys with huge smile, who were wearing one of the many Yankees jerseys with the name Specter printed on the back. As the boys began enthusiastically recounting their exploits, Donna cuddled her daughters, following her husband into his office, the little family walking together under everyone’s surprised gaze. Quickly, the family walked toward Harvey's office, the lawyer listening to his sons talk endlessly about their practice, looking at him with stars in their eyes as he complimented them, while Donna rocked Aria, who was clearly hungry judging by the way she gazed longingly at her mother. Once inside the office, Donna gave her husband an apologetic smile before murmuring.
« You should’ve just dropped them off with me »
« It’s fine. I didn’t want you to handle it alone, and besides, there had to be a day they found out… »
« Yeah »
« How are you doing? » the lawyer smiled, kissing his wife again.
« Honey, you need to get back to your meeting — they’re waiting » the redhead chuckled.
« I don’t care. They interrupted my afternoon with my girls, they can wait a little longer — so, how was your day? »
For a few minutes, the couple chatted about everything and nothing, Harvey cuddling his kids a little longer while Donna kept an eye on the boys and their compulsive need to touch every basketball and baseball collectible that decorated the lawyer’s office. When Aria started crying for her bottle, Harvey reluctantly pulled away, kissed everyone one last time, and headed back to the meeting room across the hall. As he stepped through the doorway, he noticed how everyone was looking at him — a mix of surprise and shock on their faces — and as he sat down and the conversation resumed, he sensed the shift in dynamic. He was no longer Harvey Specter, the best closer in New York — arrogant and untouchable, feared by everyone. He had become Harvey Specter, daddy and husband, as soft as a lamb — the illusion was gone — and he had shown them who he really was. As he was giving some sort of solution, Dan, a young lawyer who was dreaming of Harvey’s position started to talk.
« Look, Harvey, maybe it’s time you let someone else handle this. You’ve got your hands full — home life and all. We’ll take it from here »
As the young man just closed a folder and thought it was his moment to shine, Harvey replied with calm, looking at the man.
« You think because I brought a diaper bag into the building, I forgot how to close a $50 million client crisis? »
« No, I mean, maybe I could handle it because… you know, you may have better things to do. It’s not something bad, it’s just… you’re not the guy you used to be » stuttered Dan.
« You’re right, Dan. I’m not the guy I used to be — I’m better. Because now I don’t need to prove anything. Not to clients, not to the board — and definitely not to some half-baked junior who thinks one late night gives him a voice at this table »
As Dan shifted in his seat, unsure and suddenly a bit more afraid of the man in front of him, Harvey looking way more threatening than when he was around his children, the young man swallowed hard as the best closer in New York kept talking with a menacing tone.
« Let me make something clear. The only reason you’re sitting here is because I allowed it. You want to test if I still have it? Try me. But I promise — the last thing you’ll see before the door hits you on the way out… is my signature on your exit papers »
As the room fell silent once again, all eyes turned to Dan — a mix of fear for him and confusion at his burst of confidence that had been quickly shot down mid-flight by Harvey. Realizing he had regained control of the situation, Harvey leaned back in his chair slightly, looked at the man one last time, and muttered in a low, threatening voice.
« Now shut up and watch how a real closer gets it done »
The young man quickly fell silent as Harvey stood up, effortlessly taking control of the conversation — much to the astonishment of the younger lawyers in the room, and especially Louis, who probably still hadn’t recovered from meeting the full Specter family. Meanwhile, just a few steps away, Donna was managing the kids the best she could. She had found a book in her bag for Elena, drawing supplies for Leo, and was helping Romeo with his homework — all while feeding Aria her bottle. In the background, she had put on a vinyl record, filling the office with the same warm, familiar jazz ambiance they had at home — a sound that always seemed to calm the kids. About half an hour later, thanks to Harvey’s intervention, the partners and clients had reached a compromise, and he was finally free to rejoin his family, as the second he stepped into his office, he didn’t even have time to close the door before everyone came running.
« Daddy! »
« Daddy, look at my drawing! »
« I just finished my homework, can we practice in the yard when we get home, Daddy? »
« Me too, Daddy! I wanna practice! »
All of them — except for Aria, still in Donna’s arms — were now clinging to his legs, looking up at him with hopeful eyes as Harvey smiled, crouched down, and murmured.
« Alright... but first, what about a big hug? »
Immediately, the kids threw themselves into his arms, wrapping their tiny arms around his neck — and just like that, every ounce of stress from the past hour melted away. A few seconds later, once the hug was over, he chuckled and said.
« Alright, now let me give Mommy a kiss too »
« Hey, honey » smiled Donna.
« Babe, I'm sorry for that »
« It's fine, don’t worry »
As they kissed softly — with Aria squealing between them — they were interrupted by Jessica and Louis walking into the office as the brunette chuckled softly.
« So this is the full Specter clan? »
« Yeah, full and enough » Donna giggled.
« Well, you never know when another surprise might pop up » Harvey smirked.
« No way »
As the couple exchanged a loving and teasing glance, Jessica let out a small laugh before murmuring quietly.
« Alright, well, I’ll let you enjoy the rest of your afternoon with your family. It’s been an honor — see you tomorrow, Specter »
With a nod, the brunette left the room while Louis remained frozen in place, making the lawyer chuckle as he murmured.
« You okay? »
« That’s your wife? » whispered the bald man.
« Yeah »
« And those are your kids? »
« Again, yes »
« I need a day »
In a second, Louis quickly left the office, leaving the children surprised and the parents amused, but just as they could’ve stayed a while longer, Harvey turned to his family and exclaimed:
« What about pizza tonight? »
« Yeah! » yelled the three kids.
« Let’s go then »
Harvey and Donna quickly split the bags between them — Harvey scooped up Elena into his arms while Donna adjusted Aria against her chest, the baby nestled calmly against her ad with the boys walking ahead, chatting excitedly about pizza and baseball, the family made their way through the firm. Every step drew surprised glances from employees who had never imagined that New York’s best closer — the intimidating, unshakable Harvey Specter — could also be a total softie dad to four absolutely perfect kids. The sight of him holding his daughter close, a gentle smile on his face, was enough to leave more than a few jaws on the floor.
Once in the parking lot, Harvey carefully got everyone settled into the car — boys buckled in the back, Aria secured in her rear-facing seat, and Elena humming quietly beside her. As he drove them home, he and Donna exchanged a few quiet smiles, listening to the excited chatter of their kids filling the car, stories from practice and giggles overlapping in the background. True to his word, once they arrived, Harvey headed straight to the backyard with Romeo and Leo for a mini baseball session, the sound of bats and laughter echoing through the warm evening air.
Meanwhile, Donna took care of the nighttime routine upstairs, giving the girls their baths, getting them into cozy pajamas, and just as she was settling Aria, the doorbell rang — the pizza had arrived as they all gathered around the dining table for a sweet family dinner, filled with jokes, crumbs, and happy exhaustion. After cleaning up and finishing the last of the nightly chores, the family ended the day the way they often did — all six piled into the big bed, Harvey reading the bedtime story, Donna tucked against his side, and before long, four sleepy bodies were out cold, wrapped in peace and love.
« Alright, Daddy, it's time for your workout session! »
« Yep, let's do it » Harvey grinned, already rolling up his sleeves.
One by one, Harvey gently carried each sleeping child up the stairs, his arms wrapped protectively around their small bodies — even Romeo, now tall and heavier with his growing pre-teen frame, was held with the same tenderness — because no matter how big they got, they were still his babies. He moved quietly, step by step, laying each of them down carefully, tucking in their blankets and brushing a kiss on their foreheads. Once back in the master bedroom, after making sure Aria was sound asleep in her bassinet beside their bed, he finally stepped into the bathroom, where the sound of running water and the sight of Donna behind the shower glass greeted him like a warm exhale. He slipped inside, wrapping his arms around her as the water fell over them, and for the first time all day, they were alone. They talked in whispers and laughed under their breath, soaking in each other’s presence like it was the only thing that mattered. Later, wrapped in fresh pajamas, they crawled under the covers, bodies close and hands brushing, whispering softly in the dark about the day, about the kids, about nothing and everything. Just the two of them — husband and wife, still best friends, still so deeply in love — sharing the quiet, sacred end of a long, full day.
« Hey? » whispered Donna.
« Yeah? »
« What was that look just now? »
« Just… thinking »
« About? »
« Are you okay with the fact that now… everyone knows at my job? »
« You mean that you're a ridiculously hot husband and a doting father of four? Yeah, I think I’ll survive. But are you okay with it? »
« I don’t know. For so long, I kept that part of my life locked away. I thought if people saw it — if they knew how much I love you, how much I live for our kids — they’d use it against me. That it would make me look soft. Weak »
« Harvey… » sighed the redhead.
« But today… seeing you all walk into that conference room — hearing their little voices, watching Elena run into your arms, the boys looking at me with so much pride… I realized something. That’s not a weakness, that’s everything. You, the kids — you’re the reason I fight. You’re the reason I want to be better. Not just in court, but as a man. As a father. As your husband. You’re not my weakness. You’re my strength »
As Harvey's words settled in the air, Donna turned towards him, her heart full while she kissed him softly, her lips lingering for a moment longer than usual, feeling the weight of everything they had built. She thought about her journey — about her life before this moment. She loved Romeo with all her heart, yet there had always been a whisper of guilt in the back of her mind as the idea that she wasn’t doing enough, that she couldn’t possibly give him the world he deserved, gnawed at her. But now, with four children and the chaos of their beautiful, messy life, she knew better. Despite all the uncertainties, she knew they were happier than anyone could imagine — and maybe that was enough — no, more than enough. She looked at Harvey now, really seeing him — really understanding. All his life, he had been driven by fear and anger, thinking that by keeping everyone at arm's length, by being cold and calculated, he could protect himself and those around him. He’d always believed that his walls were the way to shield himself, but in reality, all he had ever needed was to be loved and to love in return. That was all it took.
And then, their own journey. Before they had found each other, neither of them had believed in soulmates, not truly. They had both believed that love was something that had to be earned through success, power, or some kind of sacrifice — but what they hadn’t realized was that they were each other’s soulmates, in every way that mattered. This relationship, this life they had created together, had allowed them to become better versions of themselves — better parents, better partners, and better people. And in the end, that was what mattered most, even if it was just for these four little souls, still innocent, still untainted by the harshness of the world. As Donna snuggled closer to Harvey, both realized how far they had come. From the path they had once walked — one that seemed full of obstacles, pain, and confusion — to where they were now: a family, stronger than they had ever been.
It was their own healing path, a journey neither of them could have imagined but both were grateful for.
