Chapter Text
It only slightly stung shadow that Sonic hadn’t appeared that shift. Shadow knew better than to hope after the incident two days ago, but he couldn’t stop himself from looking up every time that bell rang.
It was his night to close; rouge had dashed off for some last minute studying she had been procrastinating on for a while. Shadow slowly checked around the shop, making sure all items were in their place before hanging up his apron in the back. The keys clinked as shadow locked up the back door and employee storeroom.
A knock echoed throughout the shop.
“It’s fifteen minutes after closing, what the hell do you- Sonic?” All anger dissipated as he shakily unlocked the front, letting Sonic inside with the soft cling of the bell.
For a long moment, the two simply stood in each others presence. Absence must make the heart grow fonder- because Sonic looked even better than at that party.
Shadow opened his mouth, ready to start a long rambled apology, but he was cut off by Sonic putting his hand up.
“I don’t want an apology.” Sonic muttered, his eyes fixated on shadows own as he stepped forward.
“Why are you here then?” Shadow asked, already knowing the answer as Sonic drew closer.
In one quick movement, Sonic cupped shadows face and pulled him in, just as Shadow had done two nights ago. His lips and body still felt like it did two days ago, soft and warm and inviting. Shadow gave in, pressing himself up against Sonic. Chaos he tasted so good, Shadow had been wanting this again for days.
He sank down into the kiss, his hands wrapping carefully around Sonic’s torso as Sonic’s hands strayed from where they had been wrapped around his face- one going to his neck, the other to the back of his head. The kiss was messy and passionate, everything neither could say in words, every thought suppressed over the three days clear.
Sonic’s hands tangled in the back of shadows hair as Sonic pressed forward again, moving his head slightly to the side as he placed his other hand in shadow hair, this time higher. Shadow just slid his own hands up and then down Sonic’s chest, returning back to his waist as the blue one shuttered. Shadow nipped at Sonic’s lip, and Sonic allowed it open.
Sonic stepped forward, pushing shadow back against the counter. Their legs half slotted together as shadow moved his arms to Sonic’s neck.
Sonic pulled away, muttering under his breath as he wiped his mouth, his hands dropping to shadows neck.
“I take it this means you would be my boyfriend?” Shadow asked in the half darkness.
Sonic glanced up at shadow, fear and elation in his eyes as he responded with a careful “yes.”
Shadow smiled, leaning into the kiss himself this time. The contact was like a drug- Shadow pushing himself up from his position on the counter and grabbing a hold of Sonic’s chest as he tilted his face to the side, allowing Sonic back in.
They couldn’t keep their hands off on their walk back to the dorm, they couldn’t keep their lips off the other. Multiple times one had to push themself off the wall they had been making out against so they could make it inside at a halfway reasonable hour.
With little difficulty, shadow opened his dorm door and pulled Sonic inside. Shadow was entrapped in another kiss as he and Sonic closed the door.
“Welcome back, you two.” Rouge looked up, turning to face the couple as they stood intertwined, barely through the door. “I still have some bullshit to read through, so be quiet at least.” She said, head in her hands as she turned back to the light of her computer.
Shadow looked mortified; Sonic just laughed. Pressing a small kiss to shadows lips, Sonic grabbed his hand and allowed Shadow to take them over to collapse into bed.
“Do you want any different clothes to sleep in?” Shadow offered as Sonic cuddled his way up to shadow.
“Nah, this is fine.” Sonic muttered, wrapping his arms around shadow again and pulling him closer, admiring Shadows sent of coffee beans (as Shadow had not changed out of his work clothes). He pressed his lips against Shadow’s chest, peppering him with smaller kisses of appreciation and comfort. Shadow let out a soft giggle and tipped Sonic head up for another kiss, which the green eyed boy happily accepted.
“Night.” Shadow whispered through the darkness. Sonic grabbed Shadows hand in the darkness, pressing a kiss to his palm and then his lips.
It was stupid of Shadow to think either would be falling asleep anytime soon.
