Chapter 28: THE END

Chapter Text

Jeonghan lay on the couch, staring at the ceiling, biting his lip in thought. He could hear Seungcheol in the kitchen, humming to himself as he cooked, completely unaware of the turmoil running through Jeonghan's head.

It had been years now. Years of waking up to Seungcheol's stupidly handsome face, of bickering over dumb things only to make up seconds later with laughter and kisses. Years of curling up in Seungcheol's arms, feeling safe, warm, and so incredibly loved. Nothing had changed except that they loved each other even more than before. Things had even gotten a little spicier between them, and their lives had become a perfect blend of passion, comfort, and unwavering devotion.

But one thing was missing.

Marriage.

Jeonghan hadn't realized just how much he wanted it until recently. It wasn't like being married would change much—they already lived together, shared everything, and belonged to each other in every way that mattered. But the idea of having a ring slid onto his finger by Seungcheol, of exchanging vows, of celebrating their love with the people they cherished, of signing papers and making it all legal... of calling Seungcheol his husband and maybe even adopting a child together someday—it made his heart race with longing.

The problem? Neither of them had brought it up.

Not once.

Not a hint, not a mention, not a signal. And if Jeonghan knew one thing about Seungcheol, it was that he wasn't the type to rush things. Which meant that if Jeonghan didn't say anything, they could be in this limbo for years.

But saying something outright? Yeah, no. He was not about to ask, "Hey, when are you proposing?" That was embarrassing, even for him.

So, he did what he did best.

He stole Seungcheol's laptop.

With a mischievous grin, he sat down at the desk and opened a new document. If Seungcheol wasn't going to propose, then he was going to write a fanfiction where he did. And then, as always, Seungcheol would find it, read it, and get the hint.

Jeonghan's fingers danced over the keyboard as he wrote:

Seungcheol stood in the middle of a candlelit room, his heart pounding as Jeonghan walked in, eyes wide with surprise. The air smelled of roses, and fairy lights twinkled like stars around them.

Jeonghan gasped. "Cheol... what is this?"

Seungcheol took a deep breath, his hands trembling as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. He got down on one knee, looking up at the love of his life with eyes full of adoration.

"I've loved you for as long as I can remember," he said, voice thick with emotion. "And every single day, I find a new reason to love you more. You are my best friend, my boyfriend, my partner, my heart, my home. I want to wake up next to you for the rest of my life. I want to argue over dumb things and make up seconds later. I want to kiss you goodnight and good morning, forever. So, Jeonghan... will you marry me?"

Jeonghan clutched his chest. It was perfect.

He hit save, closed the laptop, and left it on Seungcheol's desk, then went to bed, feeling giddy.

The next morning, as he was making coffee, Seungcheol strolled in, holding the laptop in one hand and smirking.

"You could've just told me, you know," he said, amused.

Jeonghan froze. "T-Told you what?"

Seungcheol raised an eyebrow. "That you wanted me to propose."

Jeonghan rolled his eyes, playing it cool. "Psh, I have no idea what you're talking about."

Seungcheol chuckled, shaking his head. "I've been waiting to propose too, you know. I just thought it might be too soon."

Jeonghan blinked. "Too soon?!" He scoffed, crossing his arms. "We've been in love for years. We've wasted enough time already."

Seungcheol looked at him for a moment, then suddenly placed the laptop on the counter. He grabbed two rubber bands from the table and dropped to one knee right then and there.

Jeonghan's eyes widened. "What are you doing?"

Seungcheol grinned up at him. "Think of this as practice. The real proposal will come with a proper ring, I promise. But I don't want to wait anymore."

Jeonghan's heart pounded as Seungcheol gently took his hand.

"I love you, Yoon Jeonghan," Seungcheol said softly. "I love you more than words can say. You are my everything, my happiness, my home. Every moment with you is a gift. And if you'll have me, I'd like to spend the rest of my life proving that to you." He squeezed Jeonghan's hand. "So... will you consider changing your name to my surname? Because I think 'Choi Jeonghan' would sound wonderful."

Jeonghan let out a choked laugh before throwing himself at Seungcheol, wrapping his arms tightly around his neck. "Yes," he whispered. "Yes, yes, yes! "

Seungcheol laughed, hugging him just as tightly, pressing kisses against his hair. "I promise I'll make the real proposal special."

Jeonghan pulled back just enough to press their foreheads together. "I don't care how you do it, Cheol. As long as it's you, it's perfect."

Seungcheol kissed him, soft and full of love, and Jeonghan melted into him. They stayed like that for a long moment, wrapped in each other's warmth, their hearts beating as one.

Somewhere in the background, their phones buzzed with notifications. The rest of their friends had probably found out already.

But none of it mattered. Right here, right now, it was just them, together in their own little world.

Jeonghan smiled into the kiss, knowing that this was only the beginning of the rest of their lives.

And, in the end, maybe Seungcheol was right all along.

Maybe love was just like a Fanfiction .
