Chapter Text

Rain pattered on the windows. Caitlyn and Vi were cuddling on the sofa near the fire wordlessly. The silence was comfortable, like a warm blanket enveloping the pair.

The silence was then broken by something going thd-thd-thd on the door. If Caitlyn didn’t know better, she’d think the manor was being raided by enforcers. She nudged Vi off of her so that she could get up.

The gigantic door creaked open and in stumbled a man who was just recognisable.

‘Jayce? What are you doing here? How are you even-’

‘Magic. That’s how I’m alive. Magic.’ He panted. ‘If we’re lucky, the last of it that’ll ever be used in Piltover. I need all the hex gates dismantled, and the siege weapons I made your strike team destroyed.’

‘They’re already broken.’

‘Good. Keep it that way.’ Jayce swayed a little on his feet, propping himself up on a table by the door. ‘Huh. Can one of you catch me?’ He slurred.

‘What?’

Jayce keeled over onto Vi, who had came through to see who was visiting at stupid o’clock at night.

‘Thanks.’ Jayce murmured, then went limp.

‘Right…’ Caitlyn started. ‘Let’s get him to a bed.’

Jayce woke up. Light was streaming through the window. He was in a spare room in Caitlyn’s home.

Taking a breath, he sat up. His head pounded and there was a numbness in his leg.

Oh. Right. He didn’t need the leg brace anymore.

The metal clattered to the floor and Jayce prepared himself for the pins and needles as he regained sensation in his leg.

Downstairs, Caitlyn and the pink haired girl- Vi was her name- were in the dining room.

‘Jayce! You’re awake. Have some lunch.’ Caitlyn said

‘Lunch?’

‘You were asleep for most of the morning. The doctor said it was exhaustion.’

Yeah, rebuilding a body will do that. Hang on-

‘Doctor?!’

‘Everybody thought you were dead and then you nearly knock down the door in the middle of the night, tell us to destroy hextech and then faint. Yeah, we called a doctor.’ Vi butted in.

‘Thought. That’s past tense, isn’t it.’

Caitlyn nodded to the entrance hall.

Gigantic bouquets of flowers (and smaller ones too) were everywhere you could see. Jayce dragged a hand down his face, annoyed.

‘For the record, the doctor was the one who spoke up, not us.’

Jayce turned back to the hallway he came through, heading for the back entrance. ‘No, no, no, I don’t have time for all of the speeches and autographs and interviews, I have to-’

‘You have to what, exactly?’

‘Need to get to-’

‘Jayce.’ Caitlyn placed a hand on his shoulder.

He paused, then let out a sigh. ‘It’s Vik. Viktor.’

Both women reclined in shock.

‘He’s alive?’

‘Yeah, but he seems dead set on reversing that. Again. He’s handing himself to the enforcers.’

‘Good, let him!’ Vi retorted.

‘Hey!’

‘What? Him and his- things killed Powder and Vander and- and decimated the city, both Piltover and Zaun. He’s on the side of anybody else in a 30-mile radius.’

‘What about you, Cait?’

Caitlyn didn’t say anything, avoiding eye contact.

‘Caitlyn…’

‘I don’t want to wish anybody death but… I do think it best that he faces the law. Honestly Jayce, he-’

‘Great. Thanks a bunch.’ Jayce started for the back door again.

‘Where are you going?’

‘Finding my mother!’

Notes:

Yeah that's pretty much the end of this chapter. I might do more, but all the ideas I have feel like they copy other fics I've read here and I want something a bit more original. °^°
