Chapter Text
"Ahahah! Wait up!" A young Sora called out, running towards a figure in the water. The sunset blocked out whomever Sora was running to, causing Roxas to squint.
The Nobody sighed, slightly annoyed from being stuck to view another one of Sora's dreams. He rather liked the warm void he could peacefully sleep in down from the area deep within Sora's heart. He enjoyed the black comfort where the other heart, a boy's heart, resided; A heart that he could easily talk to (despite not being able to see what they actually looked like. Or physically talk for that matter.).
Roxas shook his head, deciding to just watch whatever memory was playing for him on destiny islands, a scenery he has grown all too familiar with. He heard another child's voice, playfully taunting Sora.
"Oh yeah? Your such a slow poke, Sora." The child teased.
"C'mon, Riku!" Sora pouted as he took his off flipflops and threw them somewhere on the beach before entering the ocean.
Riku. Huh. Roxas had a vague understanding of that person, his only interaction having been fighting with him once before going into the data scaped version of Twilight Town. Other than that, his only knowledge of Riku was from Sora's more recent memories in the past year: Searching for Riku, fighting with Riku, trying to leave the world with Riku... But, by the time all those memories occured, Riku had already been touched by darkness. It was interesting to Roxas to see a more purified version of the boy.
The two children were playing in the water, laughing as they splashed eachother until Sora oh so stupidly got the sea water in his eyes and began to wail at how much it stung. Roxas raised an eyebrow and scoffed.
Seriously? Organization XIII was beaten by someone like him?
He continued to watch on, watch as little Riku just stared at Sora. He was frozen in place, waves lapping around his legs as his eyes hyperfixated on the large tears flowing down the small child's face as he desperately tried to wipe his eyes. Then, he wadded over to Sora and crouched down to where Sora knelt. The child brought a hand up, almost to comfortingly pat the other's head before pausing and putting the hand on Sora's back. "Sora, don't cry.. uhm.." Roxas stiffiled a laugh at the hesitancy and overall awkwardness of Riku's actions.
The boy then stood up. After scooping some water in his hands, he poured it on top of Sora's head, shocking the younger and causing him to look at the silver haired child with wide, teary eyes. "W-What..?" "Did that hurt?"
Roxas was confused by these actions and the absolute random-ness of the situation. All he could do was shake his head as he crossed his arms and sigh.
"N-No?" Sora responded to the question, confused and sniffed a bit.
"If it didn't hurt the rest of you, how could it hurt your eyes?"
...What. Roxas scoffed at that, finding the logic so backwards that he found himself leaning fowards to stiffle a chuckle. Although, the nosensical reasoning seemed to work, as Sora slowly stopped crying and just nodded before standing and brushing of his knees from the muddy sand.

The two sat at the beachside of the town, Sora's dad having brought them back from the island just minutes before. The sky was a deep blue, clouds slightly visible between the twinkling stars and bright shinning moon. A peaceful silence settled between the two, the relaxing sound of waves helping the two children wind down and, ever so slowly, lull them to sleep. Roxas himself found delight in the silence, leaning against a nearby post with his eyes closed. They only fluttered open at the soft sound of Sora breaking the silence.
"Hey, Riku?"
"Yeah?" The silverette responded, turning to look at Sora.
"You're my best friend, y'know that?" Sora said with a gleaming smile. Riku blinked and looked away, bashfully rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, if we're best friends, I'll give you something tomorrow then. But only at this time." Roku said and raised a finger. Sora raised an eyebrow before letting out a small whine.
"Can't you just give me it after school tomorrow?"
"Nope."
Sora let out a small whine.
Roxas watched this playful exchange, smiling at the two. He began to turn to walk away and hopefully find the exit the memory. The Nobody walked down a grassy path, passing two old fishermen talking to eachother. "You heard about the meteor shower happening tomorrow?" One asked.
