Chapter Text
The next day Steve woke to an empty bed. He sleepily made his way out of Eddie's bedroom and found him cooking bacon and eggs.
“Morning sleepy head.”
“Good morning.”
“There's toast for you,” he pointed to a small table which held a plate of toast and orange juice.
“Thanks,” he sat down and began eating.
Eddie then came over, plated the eggs and bacon, and sat down, taking a bite of his own toast.
They sat there eating in silence for a bit until finally Steve spoke, “What are we…”
“Hm?” Eddie hummed in confusion.
“Like, are we just friends or… are we more than friends? Because personally I've never had a friend cook me dinner, sleep in the same bed as me, and cook me breakfast.”
Eddie chuckled, “Well… I personally have never cooked someone breakfast that I didn't have a crush on, so…”
“You have a crush on me!” he said with complete surprise.
“Yeah… was it not obvious?”
“Well, kinda… but I just thought I was reading too much into it.”
“I was literally calling you ‘sweetheart’.”
“I- I'm just oblivious… usually I do the flirting, not the other way around.”
Eddie laughs, “You need to work on your observation skills.”
“Yeah yeah. So… what are we?”
“Well, I hope to be more than a friend.”
“Mhmm,” Steve coaxes
“Like, maybe… boyfriend?” He says, face a light shade of red.
“Hm,” Steve hums happily, “I believe we are in agreement.”
“Good,” Eddie laughs and takes both their plates to the sink. “Now we better start getting ready for work, those books aren't gonna check themselves out.”
“And those children aren't going to learn music on their own.”
“Then let's get a move on!” Eddie says finding some clothes for himself.
“I don't have any clothes to wear!”
“You can borrow something from me if you want.”
“Ooo, already in the clothes exchanging phase.”
“We're already past that,” he says gesturing to Eddie's clothes Steve's already wearing.
“Touché.”
Eddie throws some clothes at Steve while he moves to the bathroom to get ready. They then leave for work in seperate cars but with a plan for the next date. Steve can't wait to tell Robin all about this and rub it in her face that he got a boyfriend before she even got a date.
