Chapter Text
Obi-wan was steadfast to teach his young Padawan how to swim. Of course, he had to do so through a few different steps.
The first step was having his Padawan be accustomed to being buoyant without floaties in their fresher tub.
The Jedi Master had purchased pelikki designed floaties with his monthly credits he was granted from the Council as well as droid patterned swimming trunks for his Padawan.
The auburn-haired man filled up the bath tub and called to his apprentice who was changing into his swimming trunks from the other room to report to the fresher.
Obi-wan giggled to himself as he surveyed his student with a resolved facial expression as he waltzed into the fresher with his new swimming trunks and floaties on.
“Lesson time Anakin. Once you master with the floaties in the tub, we’ll remove them and then try a bigger water source such as the local swimming pool,” specified the elder man which made the younger puff up his chest in understanding as well as confidence in the task he was presented with.
Anakin lifted his little arms up for the Jedi Master to take hold and place him in the filled tub. He then let go for his apprentice to become comfortable with the water, floating easily with the assistance of the pelikkis attached to his arms. The young boy soon submerged himself every few seconds, building up his confidence with being underneath such a threat as H2O. He then peered towards his Master, who with their bond, indicated that he was ready to try without the floaties.
Obi-wan was hesitant but listen to his apprentice and removed both pelikkis, thus causing the blonde-haired boy to try to become buoyant without a crutch.
And Anakin was doing quite well before he introduced kicking movements resulting in him plunging fully in the tub!
“Anakin!” shouted the auburn-haired man as he rapidly rolled the sleeves of his beige robe with assistance from the Force and grasped his briefly drowning apprentice up from the depths of a possible watery grave.
The youngling coughed and hacked for air but soon grinned that he was a little overconfident which made the older huff a snort, getting him out of the tub safely to catch a breath.
“Sorry Master,” apologized Anakin in which Obi-wan replied, “It is quite alright, Padawan. Let’s try again tomorrow.”
The Padawan shook his head no and wanted to try again and again until he got it right without floaties.
“Padawan…” begun the Jedi Master’s retort before the blonde-haired boy pleaded with his azure eyes, “Please Master! You promised!”
The auburn-haired man sniffed with a mini smile, “Alright, you win Padawan, but just know this isn’t like saber training, it’ll take some time to master swimming.”
Anakin smirked to himself but agreed to the challenge of mastering swimming.
(Little did his Master realize that someone who was once a slave from the sandy planet of Tatooine that was given freedom from an outlandish bet on his podracing skills and was soon thrusted to someone who didn’t get him his freedom, the Padawan was determined to prove the elder man wrong that he could accomplish swimming in a few days’ time just like he did with saber training.)
