Chapter Text
Azure lay there.
his breath gone, his warmth already retreating like the tide.
The stained glass painted his body in colors of blood and heaven.
A martyr in a silent cathedral.
And beside him, Two Time fell to their knees.
The dagger slipped from theirs fingers, clattering against the stone floor
its whispers silenced, its hunger fed.
But the silence that followed was worse.
Two Time stared down at the man they once called a lover, a friend, once called a partner..
once wanted to love without needing to.
theirs hands hovered uselessly in the air. they didn’t know how to hold regret.
Tears streamed from they eyes without sound. They weren’t the loud, angry kind.
They were soft, persistent. Like rainfall that had been waiting all along.
they shook theirs head over and over, as if the motion could undo the past.
Could rewind the moment. Could make them hesitate before they obeyed the voice.
“I didn’t mean-”
But their throat closed. The words tasted like rust and rot.
theirs knees touched the blood that pooled beneath Azure...warm, fading.
And in that still, haunted church, where ghosts never prayed and saints never came,
Two Time lowered theirs head… and began to pray.
But not the chants Amarah taught them. Not the verses carved into theirs back.
No. This was desperate, frantic, human.
“Oh Spawn, i did what you asked... Give him breath... Give him light...i been calling you by my voice..and listen to you by my ears...please...lord.”
they leaned forward until theirs forehead touched the cold floor, their body trembling like a candle in wind.
“Please... spawn, i been good..”
There was no answer. Only the hum of silence,
and the soft drip of stained blood mixing with sacred tears.
Two Time stayed there, praying long after night gave way to gray.
A broken disciple kneeling before a god.
