Ever since Sae left like a soul dragged to hell by the devil, Miku and Kageyama didn't realize they were holding their breath
Sae Itoshi was much scarier in real life than he was in interviews, and Miku could now understand the journalists' nervousness. The glances she'd given him had frozen her in place; she was sure that if glances killed, she'd already be dead and resurrected
Sae's presence could be felt very well, that's not human, Miku thought
Instead Kageyama just thought that seeing him up close he was uglier and more unpleasant than he thought
"Damn, I have to wash my eyes out with bleach" Kageyama said with venom, he already hated him for what he did to Rin, but his hatred amplified after seeing how he treated Rin today, what piece of shit brother would say he's ashamed of his younger brother, what a worthless piece of shit, a living piece of garbage
Kageyama thought that Sae didn't even deserve to set foot in their house, yes their house, his, Miku's and Rin's, not that fucking bastard's
Who did he think he was to look at them like that as if they were the worst scum walking the earth when the real scum is him
But a thud brought them out of their thoughts
"Oh my god Rin!" Miku shouted as she approached Rin who was hunched over and sobbing silently
Even when you're sad, you're ashamed to show it to us, Miku thought as she stroked Rin's back
Kageyama's deep blue eyes like the ocean looked at Rin with sweetness and empathy, as much as he wanted to give up his best friend to cry over a pathetic person like that ridiculously pink haired parasite, he couldn't help but feel sad towards Rin because he knew what it felt like not to be enough for someone
He knew well what he felt
Tobio sat down next to Rin and turned to face him
"Rin" He said softly, the aforementioned took a deep breath moving away from Miku, he wasn't crying, he shouldn't cry, he won't cry, he won't waste tears, and yet...
"Look, Sae's just a fucking asshole, and we all know that. Just know that you love Sae, though..." Kageyama took a deep breath, saying what they'd told him that day he cried for him...
"Does Sae feel the same way you feel about him?" Rin knew it, he deluded himself hoping that his nii-chan Sae felt the same thing he feels every fucking day, the pain, the anger, the weight of not being enough, the pieces of broken dreams that cut like sharp shards of glass. But it was just an illusion
"No..." It was just a fucking illusion, why, he wondered, what was the fucking reason for taking their dreams and throwing them in his face
"That's right, now I know he's your brother, you have no idea how awful I'd feel if Miwa was a total bitch to me. But, you have to let him go, you have to stop crying over spilt milk because he! He chose the path he wanted to go down, a shitty path, and now you! You have to choose your own path." Miku caressed Rin's hand as he felt that crying was a tempting idea, but not crying because of what Sae was doing, but because of Tobio and Miku's behavior, how they were taking care of him, saying the same things over and over again, and yet, there he was, listening to Tobio's strangely encouraging speeches, who is the one who needs these speeches in the first place
"As long as we are here you will always have someone who is proud of you" The three of them hugged Rin, Miku tightly and Kageyama reluctantly but sweetly and Rin couldn't hold back the tears and so he let go of what he was holding inside
"Oh god no Rin! Miku what the fuck are we doing" Kageyama said in a panic, he didn't expect Rin to start crying in their arms
"Tobio stay still for the love of god!" Miku said in exasperation as she gently rocked Rin
Rin was there, crying in the arms of the only people he had at that moment. He wasn't sixteen, but four, crying because he'd dropped the ice cube, and nii-chan (?) was consoling him, saying he should be careful next time and he'd buy him another one
The three of them were isolated from the world, surrounded by pillows scattered on the floor and snacks ready to eat, just they three
Some time passed and the three of them found themselves watching the movie full of deaths and blood, Rin was finally calmer and was enjoying watching the black and white clown killing people while Tobio and Miku watched hugging each other in fear
"How disgusting! How disgusting!" Kageyama shouted as the clown killed his victim with a pair of scissors ?
"I wanted karaoke!" Miku said instead as she hid herself using her long caramel blue hair
"Lukewarm"
But Rin couldn't ask for anything better from his scaredy-cat friends
