Chapter Text
“Huh, interesting…” Nedzu muttered looking at his computer screen with a small chuckle while sipping tea. “Just who are you, Izuku Midoriya?”
“I just had to use my quirk on you!”
“Convince them that you are from the future and to save you!”
“Also don’t let them mess with your life before this incident, it’ll mess up the timeline!”
“Please don’t let yourself die! You should live! You matter!"
Izuku shot up with a loud gasp, his heart pounding in his chest like crazy. The words repeated in his mind over and over again like this was all some sick kind of joke. But no this was real and he was still alive, why couldn’t this just… all be over already?
“Ah!” A soft feminine yet old voice snapped him out of his thoughts. “I see your awake deary. How are you feeling?
Looking over at the voice, he noticed who it was coming from - Recovery Girl - He was at UA now..? Not only was he in the past but he was at UA! He blinked, still trying to catch his breath and gather his own thoughts. Everything felt like it was spinning. “I don’t know…” He muttered, his voice barely above a whisper. His throat felt dry, and his head felt heavy. “My head hurts.”
“That’s normal, you took quite a hit to the head. You’re lucky someone found you when they did.”
Someone found him? If the voice was really telling the truth that meant he was in the pa--
“Can you tell me what happened to you please?” Recovery girl’s voice interrupted his thoughts as she placed a file on her desk.
“Ah…well-” He paused thinking of the lady’s words once more. Was he really in the past? He didn’t know, not yet, maybe this was all some cruel joke but.. “What year is it?”
“Seems Nedzu was right.” Recovery girl muttered under her breath much to his confusion. “It’s 2030, today is June 20th.”
Izuku’s breath hitched, he was really in the past, fifteen years in the past to be exact before he was even born. He hasn’t even been born yet, this was crazy. “Wait..” He paused looking up at the other as he remembered her words. “What do you mean Nedzu was right?”
“Well, when there of our students brought you in and explained what happened, there were clear signs that you were obviously in a quirk accident,” Recovery girl began. “At first we assumed it was just a simple teleportation quirk gone wrong and you must’ve somehow gotten in the middle of it. But when Nedzu looked into it, there were no reports of any villains with a quirk that could’ve possibly done that.” She let out a small sigh. “That’s when he decided to check your belongs, and we found your ID. From there well… Nedzu made an educated guess since your date of birth is not even ten days away from now.”
“O-Oh right… when you put it like that it makes sense.” He muttered his hands gripping the sheets below him. “I didn’t mean to cause trouble I-I didn’t even know I’d be hit with a quirk I’m sorr--“
“Nonsense!” The older woman said in an attempt to comfort him, “You caused no issue, don't worry. We figured it was an accident, are you feeling okay enough to be asked questions or no? If not, you can get more rest.”
“N..No it’s okay!” Izuku blurted out, he didn’t want to be any more of a problem than he already felt like he was. He didn’t want to burden them all and use up resources. “It’s fine, I'm fine and ready to be questioned if that’s what’s needed.”
Before the other could speak the door swung open revealing Nedzu and a detective walking in behind him. “Am I a rat? A mouse? A dog? A bear? Who knows! I am the Principal-”
“You’re a Chimera.” Izuku blurted out, his cheeks flustered red in embarrassment when he realized what he said.
Nedzu chuckled in amusement “You’re right, you’re also one of the first person to ever guess that!”
“S-sorry i didn’t mean to blurt that out… I just really like quirks and-“
“Relax, it's okay Midoriya-kun.” Nedzu said as he looked at the other boy. “If anything I find you rather entertaining.”
“Huh why-“
The detective stepped forward clearing his throat, “Enough of that please? Let me get straight to the point, I’ve somewhere to be after this.” He said pulling out a small notepad. “My name is Naomasa Tsukauchi I’m here to question you, you must be Midoriya Izuku correct?”
“Y-yes!” The green-haired boy answered nervously.
“ True. ” Naomasa stated, once he noticed the confused look on the kid’s face he sighed. “My quirk is called Lie-Detector and yes before you ask it’s exactly what you think it is.”
“That’s so cool, wait does that mean…” Izuku started going into a mumbling storm about the detective's thoughts and the more he mumbled the more interested Nedzu seemed to get in the kid.
“Midoriya-kun,” Naomasa interrupted, “I need you to focus, alright? This is important especially since you’re not from here. Tell me everything that happened, don’t bother lying to me either, it's useless.”
Izuku blinked a few times but nodded slowly. “Before this I was…” he paused looking down at his hands, gripping the sheets “I tried to kill myself.” He started to explain being brutally honest, there was no point in lying to the detective after all. “Right after I jumped when I was falling someone used their quirk on me, they said I would end up in the past, they weren’t sure when or where but they knew I would end up in the past, they don’t even know how long I’ll be here. She said convince someone I’m from the future, convince them to save me in the future and some other stuff I can’t remember very well right now…”
Naomasa stayed quiet for a moment, watching the boy in front of him with a small frown on his face. “It’s true.” He confirmed out loud, more for Recovery Girl and Nedzu’s behalf rather than his own. “Every single word he just said it’s true.”
The room was quiet for a second before Nedzu clapped his paws together “Enough of that for now, thank you for coming detective.” He said trying to ease the tension in the room for now, they could discuss more details later but right now the kid seemed to need a break. Naomasa gave a small nod, slipping his notepad back into his coat pockets before leaving.
Izuku stared down at the sheets in silence, his fingers tightened just slightly, remembering the words that the girl said to him. “You should live, you matter.”
Did he? Who is he kidding of course, he doesn't matter.
He’s just a Deku.
“Midoriya-kun,” Nedzu’s voice brought him out of his mind. “I understand that this must be overwhelming for you, but please know that we will keep you safe while you're here. I’m not going to ask much about what happened before you appeared, at least not yet.”
Izuku didn’t respond at first, just gave a small nod before looking away, his eyes glancing towards the white wall in front of him. “Thank you…” he eventually muttered.
“Get some rest,” Recovery girl told him, noticing the distant look in the boy’s eyes. “You’ve been through a lot deary.”
The sound of the door cracking open along with three steps of approaching footsteps stirred Izuku awake.
“I told you we should wait Zashi, Boro-“
“But I wanna make sure he is okay! He was barely even conscious when he first fell on you Shouta!”
“That doesn’t mean we just barge in--“
“Um…” Izuku’s voice was quiet, hoarse but it caught the boy’s attention quickly.
“You’re okay!” Hizashi spoke way louder than he needed to speak. “Thank god, I mean I knew you were okay but still I thought something really bad happened to you.”
“Zashi, chill out you’re talking way too much.” The teenager with black hair muttered towards his friend. “Not everyone is used to your loud ass mouth.”
The freckled boy was so confused, just who were these people? Why were they here? Wait… “You… you guys brought me here? Right? Nedzu mentioned something about students..”
“Well, technically I caught you.” Shouta said, scratching the back of his neck. “You fell out of the sky and instincts kicked in and well yeah…”
“R-right… s-sorry!” The green-haired boy’s voice was so quiet, he seemed nervous. “I-I-I r-really didn’t mean to cause you guys problems… I—“ He paused gripping the bed sheets.
“Woah, woah, woah!” Oboro blurted out quickly, waving his hands back and forth frantically. “Calm down greenie, you’re not causing any problems, especially not to us! I promise you that.”
“Y-you sure?”
“Positive!” Oboro smiled, giving him a thumbs up. “Besides you’re not the weirdest thing that has fallen out of the sky lately. There was this one time where Shouta got hit by—“
“Don’t finish that sentence.” Shouta muttered, crossing his arms and glaring at the blue haired boy before looking back at the other kid. “Ignore those two buffoons. By the way my name is Aizawa Shouta, those two idiots are Shirakumo Oboro and Yamada Hizashi. We are in our first year here at UA.”
“Soooo you got a name greenie?” Oboro asked, leaning closer towards the kid. “Though, you’re kinda cute, hey I wonder did It hurt when-“
Izuku’s face flustered red at the boy’s words, he was slightly embarrassed but before Oboro could finish his sentence he was interrupted.
“Don’t even say it Boro!” Shouta scolded his best friend seeing the cheesy pickup line from a mile away. He let out a groan “Just… ignore him.”
Izuku swallowed nervously, still blushing, “I’m Izuku Midoriya…” He blurted out answering Oboro’s earlier question while also actively avoiding the boy’s teasing. These three boys were… so different compared to everyone he’s ever met before, they weren’t bullying him, they weren’t calling him Deku… they were just so nice. Not that it was a bad thing! He just… wasn’t used to this.
“So what school do you even go to--” Hizashi asked, Izuku shrunk in response. Maybe that wasn’t the best question to ask him. “Never mind, sorry I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable!”
“N-No! It’s okay! R-really.. I just--”
The sound of the door opening caught all their attention and they looked over to see Recovery girl standing there, nearly immediately her eyes fell on the three Ua students “Didn’t I tell you guys to let him get some rest and you can talk to him later!” She started to scold them all while hitting them with her cane. “You three idiots!”
She shook her head sending the kids out the room, despite them grumbling in protest they still obeyed, promising Izuku they would be back later to check on him again. “Midoriya-kun,” Recovery girl said softly, sitting in front of him in her chair. “I know this is all probably a lot for you to take in. But you aren’t alone, not anymore.”
