Chapter Text
6 years later…
The sky was blue, the grass was green, and Vidor Császár was going to marry Michael Kaiser.
As was German tradition, Kaiser walked Vidor down the aisle towards the flowery arch in the middle of Bastard München’s soccer field.
The arch was made completely of blue roses.
Vidor gripped his cane with one trembling hand and adjusted the jacket of his white suit with the other.
This is finally happening, he thought, holding back tears. I can’t believe it.
Kaiser gently brushed his arm against Vidor’s, and the brunette almost lost it right there.
Various familiar faces had been invited to the wedding.
“What am I doing here?” asked Isagi, standing next to Bachira and looking around with confusion.
Bachira grinned and looped his arm through his companion’s. “Don’t worry about it.”
Sae was currently restraining Shidou, who had not been invited, and chastising the latter for showing up without an invitation. Shidou’s only response was to blush and grin.
Ness, who had been appointed the best man, couldn’t stop smiling. “Kaiser appointed me the best man!” he had announced to all who would listen.
Vidor and Kaiser arrived at the flowery arch, gazing at each other with the utmost love and affection.
I can’t believe it, Vidor thought, feeling tears pool in his hazel eyes.
A stream of sunlight shone onto Kaiser, and his metallic blue eyes shimmered like a billion stars.
Kaiser and Vidor then switched their rings from their left hands to their right hands, and Vidor couldn’t hold back a sniffle.
Then, it came time for the vows.
Kaiser spoke first, smiling tenderly. “I take you, Vidor—” His voice broke. “—to be my husband. I promise to be loyal to you in good and bad days, in health and illness, to love and respect, until death separates us.”
Vidor took a deep breath, trying to calm his buzzing nerves.
“I take you, Michael, to be my husband. I promise to be loyal to you in good and bad days, in health and illness, to love and respect, until death separates us.” Tears slipped down his cheeks, and his voice trembled as he spoke.
When they kissed, Vidor grasped his cane with one hand and touched Kaiser’s back with the other. Kaiser held him close as the wedding guests cheered and applauded. Surprisingly, Ness’s voice was the loudest of them all.
Vidor and Kaiser separated, and Kaiser grinned. “I never thought I’d see the day I marry my rival—” His voice broke again.
Vidor grinned. “Neither did I.”
The wedding reception was, of course, chaotic. Shidou got thrown out by Sae after making one too many horny comments. Ness drank too much alcohol and started sobbing loudly enough to beat a volcanic eruption. A drunk Bachira joined Ness, and the two of them made so much noise that Kaiser had to yell at them to be quiet.
That night, Kaiser and Vidor stood outside their mansion, paid for with the money Kaiser earned from playing for a professional soccer team.
“I’m glad we were finally able to fend off the crowds,” the brunette commented, thinking of the hordes of people who had congratulated the two on their wedding.
He also thought of the joyful looks people had given him.
Vidor had revealed himself to the public not long after he and Kaiser had started dating, and he would never get used to the happiness in people’s eyes as they looked at him.
Even now, six years later, they still rejoiced at seeing their “Hungarian Kaiser” again.
“‘You will never be able to play soccer again,’” Vidor murmured, and Kaiser turned to him.
“Those words haunted me for months,” the brunette continued, adjusting his hold on his cane. “And sometimes, I still feel like I’m falling and falling and falling, into an abyss I’ll never escape from.” He grinned up at Kaiser. “But, my emperor, we will always compete, forever and ever. We will always vie against each other to see whose love of the idea of soccer can shine the brightest.”
Vidor’s hazel eyes glimmered with pure bliss as he beheld the night sky above.
“You’ve given me hope, Michael, and reminded me that soccer will always be a part of me. You’ve reminded me that I could always touch the sky.”
Kaiser grinned, and the skin around his eyes wrinkled. He held out his fist.
“Let’s see who can shine the brightest, my rival!”
Vidor grinned back and bumped Kaiser’s fist with his own.
“You’re on!”
