Chapter Text
Monty rubbed the back of his head. He may or may not have smacked it into the back of the table he had been leaning on.
May not have.
“Ugh how’s the brat always managin’ ta get em’self’ inta trouble…” he growled, still shaken up from the glitching.
Monty’s body was still heavily glitching but something Gregory had done fixed his broken speech. He made his way over to a door placed at the back of the area, the same one Gregory had gone through when he left.
I was locked.
Although Monty had expected this (hence why he told the kid to open the doors), he still huffed in annoyance.
“Open the damned door kid!” he yelled, knowing that he could see him from the control room.
He waved his arms up and down, trying to make it easier for Gregory to spot him. Suddenly, a noise sounded from the door. Monty spun around and opened it, faster than the speed of light.
“AGHH!” he screamed as a violent glitched made him stumble. He caught himself before he fell face first.
Monty painfully limped through a winding hallway of construction equipment. He grabbed onto a stack of concrete, though a twitch made it topple over.
“Great…”
Monty continued through the hallway, nearly tripping on a tarp as he went. After what felt like the most agonizing walk of his life, Monty finally reached the second door.
“KID!” he waved his arms again. No noise yet.
Monty spotted a can of Sodaroni on a table next to him. He picked it up and sculled whatever liquid was left.
It was totally flat.
“EEUGHH!” Monty shook his head, trying to get the taste out his mouth. It boosted his power a bit though.
Bleep!
Monty rushed out the door and into a large area, still filled with construction equipment. It was so dark. The alligator adjusted his star sunglasses and continued his awkward limp to the next door.
Once he reached it, Monty almost collapsed on the ground. He was so tired. The robot rested his back on the door and tried to push his way through. Normally, he would have been able to rip this door off its hinges. Not right now.
Bleep!
Monty fell backwards since his hand had still been pushing down the handle.
“UGH!” he grunted, slowly making his way back on his feet. Monty looked over and made awkward eye-contact with a wet floor bot.
“Whaddya lookin’ at, twink?” he said, dusting his scale pants off. The bot beeped and spun around.
Monty shuffled over to the shutter door that led into Rockstar Row, “Kiiiiidddddddd!” he sang.
The area Monty was in was weirdly dark even though there were neon lights everywhere. It was one of the two entrances to Rockstar Row, the other being on the other side. There were so many cutouts and merch of the Glamrocks in here.
Bleep!
Monty tried to open the shutter door but it was stuck, “yer kiddin’ me”.
There was no way that he would be able to open it with his current strength. Monty grit his teeth and took a deep breath.
“Well, guess I’m doin’ this now…” he got onto his hands and knees, slipped to the side from a glitch and lay flat on the ground.
At that moment, Monty wished he could just stay there. After tonight's performance, the only thing he had wanted to do was sleep.
“Nah, I can’t”
Monty flipped onto his back and gripped the underside of the door, pushing himself under.
And then proceeded to smack his snout while doing so.
“Rrrgh”
After struggling to fit all his stupid giant robot parts under that idiotic stupid annoying door, he finally got under. Monty stood up and stumbled towards the main stage door, the spot where he could reach Gregory. He passed Freddy’s room and Roxanne’s room-
Monty froze.
“Fazbear?”
Freddy was standing at the window of his Greenroom, waving at his bandmate. Monty closed his eyes and huffed. He didn’t have time for this.
“Screw it..” he said as he grabbed his side, making his way back to Freddy’s door.
There were a few annoying rope bollards out the front but Monty managed to get around them. The gator gripped the sliding door and ripped it open with the remaining strength he had (the green room doors were not durable at all).
“WHAT THA HECK FAZBEAR?!” Monty yelled at him, “WHERE HAVE YA BEEN?!”
Freddy fiddled with his claws nervously, “Ah- well- Officer Vanessa-.... When I left to charge, Officer Vanessa spotted me making my way back to you and Gregory. She said I was supposed to be on lockdown in my room and sent me back. She locked me in so I was unable to reach you.”
Monty groaned, “yer kiddin’...”
Freddy shook his head, then noticed that Gregory wasn’t with Monty.
“Speaking of Gregory, where is he? Did he make it out?”
This time Monty shook his head, well, more like it glitched to the side, cracking it painfully.
Freddy reached for his friend, “Monty!”
“AH! Rrrgh… Nah, tha kid’s n’ tha control room. I got attacked makin’ my way back ta Rockstar Row so Gregory was tryna’ help me get ta Parts n’ Service. Chica an’ Roxanne are bangin’ on tha doors so m’ gonna get ta tha vent under him”.
Freddy nodded and looped an arm around Monty, “let us go then!”
The two Glamrocks made their way out of Freddy’s room and headed towards the main stage door. Freddy helped Monty navigate the glass cases and his glitchy spasms.
Monty stood at the door and began to wave his arms for Gregory’s attention but Freddy stopped him and did it instead.
Bleep!
After opening the door, Monty instantly collapsed to the ground, exhausted.
“Monty!” Freddy tried to hold the gator but, one, he was too heavy and two, Gregory was directly above them, peering down.
“Freddy! You’re back!” The boy yelled, grabbing the metal vent.
“Hang on! I am going to jump up and pull the vent down!” Freddy called back up.
Monty watched from his sprawled half laying-half sitting position on the ground. He groaned as another violent twitch went through his body.
Once Freddy had ripped off the vent, he grabbed Gregory as the kid jumped down.
“You saved me!” Gregory hugged Freddy tightly. “I’m sorry I couldn't find any lift controls” he said as he gave Monty a confused look as to why he was on the ground, “all I found was this…disk thing…”.
Monty huffed, “that’s a program disk fer tha stage show. If ya use it n’ tha sound booth, ya should be able ta run a showtime program that’ll activate tha lift.”
Freddy quickly rushed back over to Monty to make sure he was ok.
“Monty! Monty… We must keep moving. Can you stand?”
The alligator animatronic twitched but nodded, “yea. I should be aight’.”
He tried to stand on his feet, nearly falling if Freddy hadn’t caught him.
“Mm.. Thanks…” Monty struggled to find a comfortable position for his hand to rest over Freddy’s shoulder.
The group of three made their way down a flight of metal stairs, with Gregory taking the lead.
“So, Monty… Nice crawling under that door…” Gregory smirked back at the animatronics.
Monty lifted his head, “uh- wh- ya saw that?...”
Freddy smiled, “we both did.”
Monty grunted, “well, I’ll have ya know that I thought I did pretty well”.
He tried to puff out his chest but Freddy’s arm was too heavy. The hallway that they were now walking through was just bare concrete. It was dimly lit and pipes ran all over the walls and ceiling. It had a low roof but Freddy and Monty still managed to fit. It was winding and they needed to turn in all kinds of directions.
“Hey, Freddy? Where were you that whole time?” Gregory asked the bear. Monty had a feeling that Freddy was Gregory’s favourite character.
That kinda stung.
“Ah! Well like I explained to Monty, Officer Vanessa locked me in my room since I was supposed to be on lockdown. I had left to charge and was on my way back when she spotted me.”
What if Gregory left with Freddy?
“Ohhh. That’s why you weren’t at the Prize Counter!”
They could just dump him in the hallway. He can't do anything.
“Did you get into trouble!?”
He’s weak.
Malfunctioning.
“Monty? Are you ok?”
Pathetic.
“Monty?”
He should jus-
“MONTY?!”
“HUH- WHA- YEA?!” Monty stumbled to a halt, causing Freddy and Gregory to stop.
Freddy grabbed Monty’s face, “are you ok? You were extremely quiet and you looked upset…”
Monty looked at Gregory. He looked worried about him.
“M’ fine. Let’s keep goin’”
As they kept walking, Monty felt Freddy’s grip on him tighten. His fur was warm and felt nice on Monty’s scales. He wished he could just sleep in a pile of Freddy’s. Monty winced as his tail twitched. Unluckily for him, it rubbed against Freddy’s leg, causing the bear to look at Monty.
“Uhh…”
Monty blushed and quickly looked away, embarrassed that Freddy caught him looking.
“M’ sorry. Uh- I was just- Uh-”
Freddy laughed and nuzzled his head into Monty’s shoulder, causing the gator to sniff in surprise.
“No need to apologise! You're the only Glamrock without fur, well Chica has feathers but it makes sense that you would want to be warm!”
Monty nodded and glanced at Gregory who was walking backwards, staring at them with wide eyes.
“Are you guys gay?”
Freddy moved his head and looked at Monty. Monty looked back, away from Freddy and Gregory.
“N-”
“Monty and I have a complicated relationship…”
“UGH!” Gregory yelped as he smacked backwards into a wall, “owww…”
Monty laughed, “heh, serves ya right”.
The group finally reached a small staircase, leading them up to a door. Freddy helped Monty up the stairs as Gregory opened the door for them.
All three of them blinked as they were blinded by the Atrium lights. Compared to the tunnel they were just in, it was an eyesore.
“Ahhh… My eyes…” Gregory rubbed them, trying to adjust to the brightness.
As they walked left to the stage, Monty glitched and collapsed into Freddy. The bear yelped slightly and swiftly half carried-half dragged Monty up the stairs and to the middle of the stage.
Monty knelt there and pointed to the third floor of the atrium, “K-kid, my systems are failin’. Go ta tha-a sound booth on tha third floor-or balcony. Run tha performance p-program n’ that disk then meet me back here n’ tha stage. P-please try an’ hurry. Ya don’t have much time. S’ almost tha enda tha hou-rr. I’ll wait here-re..”
Monty noticed that his voice was starting to glitch again.
Gregory nodded and looked at Freddy, “I think you should stay here too”.
Freddy had begun to walk over to Gregory but stopped once the kid had looked at him.
“What? Why?”
Monty was also curious since he assumed the boy would want some kind of protection going forward. He could see Roxy and Chica on the second and third floors.
“Monty needs you here. He’s glitching all over the place. Plus I can handle myself.” Gregory said, puffing out his chest.
Freddy laughed, “you're starting to sound like Monty now.”
Monty huffed but he was really trying to cover his laugh. He was secretly hoping that Freddy agreed so Monty had some kind of company.
“Hmm… Ok, fine. Monty, I will remain here with you.”
Monty looked up at Freddy and tried to smile, though his head twitched causing him to grit his teeth instead.
“Rrrgh”
Gregory then rushed up to Monty and hugged him.
“...” Monty’s mouth hung open in surprise.
“Thanks for helping me so much Monty. I know you would rather be using your spare time to sleep or trash your room”.
Monty frowned at that last part but laughed, “haha, yer makin’ it s-sound like yer gonna die-e or somethin-n’”.
Freddy wasn’t amused by that.
As Gregory left, Freddy made his way over to the gator, kneeling beside him.
“Sorry about Gregory in that passage back there…” Freddy turned red with embarrassment.
Monty looked down, guilty, “y-yea. I know yer-r still workin-n stuff out. I would-dave’ done tha sa-same if I lost someone-e I loved.”
Freddy winced and nodded, “I am glad that you understand Monty. I want you to know that it is nothing against you. I still love you greatly. I just don’t know if I am ready.”
This time it was Monty’s turn to nod.
Suddenly, a noise from the atrium made the pair look up and towards the balconies. A security bot was waving its arms in the air, alarm blaring. The small figure of Gregory made a dash to a photo booth as Roxy came sprinting from the second floor.
“Monty, stay here. I am going to help Gregory.” Freddy lightly touched Monty’s arm and then dashed off the stage to help the kid.
“Wai-.....t….” Monty sighed as Freddy was gone.
Mony was in so much pain. He placed his head on the ground and lay down flat, looking up at the ceiling. How did he always manage to get into messes like this? And now he’s hurt Freddy’s feelings by bringing up the whole Bonnie situation.
Bonnie.
Monty lifted his claws to his face.
These disgusting things hurt Monty’s best friend.
Monty huffed as he remembered that night. It was as clear as day.
Bonnie has been acting weird for the past couple weeks. Since Monty was a side attraction at the time, he wasn’t allowed to leave his Golf course. None of the Glamrocks really liked Monty, none except for Bonnie. He was the one who had helped Monty fit in and understand how the Pizzaplex worked. He taught Monty how to play bass. But Monty didn’t want the bass. He loved the drums.
Bonnie was Monty's only friend.
The pair decided to finally (after Bonnie's constant nagging) ask the company if Monty could join the band as the drummer.
Too bad the day before happened.
Then one night, after Monty had had one of his “episodes”, he was on the catwalks, as usual. Bonnie came up, asking Monty how he was and what had happened this time.
He was acting all glitchy and mean.
Monty tried telling Bonnie that he was fine and needed some time alone.
Bonnie didn’t listen.
Instead he attacked Monty.
“Gomery! What are you doing?”
Monty looked up at the nickname, instantly knowing who was calling him.
“O-oh, Hey-y Roxanne-e.”
The wolf animatronic looked over to where she previously was, not noticing Freddy attempting to catch up to Gregory who was way ahead of him.
“What are you doing?” She asked again.
Monty twitched and closed his eyes, “u-uhhh-h….. W-well… I was-s, uh-h, lookin’ fer-r tha ki-kid. But-t ma power-r was really-y low and now I’m-m all broken-n….”
Roxy nodded and sat on the stage next to Monty.
“What-t are ya-a d-doin’ here?” Monty asked, confused since she had been alerted to Gregory moments before.
Roxy frowned and sighed, “Freddy said you needed help. He told me you were struggling. Looks like he was right,” she smirked at that last part.
Monty groaned, “u-uh shut up-p”.
Roxy laughed and they both sat in silence for a bit.
“...”
“...”
Suddenly, flashing lights shone in the Glamrocks' eyes. Four giant holograms of the Glamrock band appeared on the stage where Monty and Roxy were positioned. They had their instruments and were performing in slow-mo. Monty looked up, then instantly looked back down after realising he was laying under Chica.
“S-so…. Ro-roxanne-e….”
The wolf animatronic sighed and scrunched her face up, although she was going to sneeze. Her ears twitched and she cocked her head towards the atrium. After a couple seconds, Monty heard it too.
Screaming.
Freddy was calling after Gregory as he motioned for the bear to follow. They were both running from Chica who was racing down the third floor stairs after them.
Roxy nodded and turned to Monty. She placed a hand on his arm, her fur warm on Monty’s cold scales.
“Wait here”.
Monty watched in horror as Roxy scrambled off the stage and made her way directly to Freddy and Gregory who were sprinting through the middle of the atrium.
“R-ROXANNE-E, W-WA-WAIT!” Monty roared as he reached for her, clearly not making any difference.
She was going to find out that Freddy wasn’t hunting Gregory.
This was bad.
Chica was behind them and Roxy was in front.
Monty lifted himself off the ground, struggling against the pain, and stumbled towards the end of the stage.
“R-RUN!” He yelled out to Freddy and Gregory.
They looked up to the alligator and Monty watched as Freddy sidestepped around Roxy, shoving her lightly into Chica as he went.
“UGH! HEY!” Roxy yelled as she tripped onto the chicken.
Freddy grabbed Gregory by the arm and they sprinted towards Monty. After Roxy and Chica recovered, they started towards the stage again.
“Monty! Go! He’s right there!” Chica called out to Monty.
Roxy nodded, “GET THE KID! FREDDY IS HELPING HIM!”
They were getting close to the stage.
Too close.
Freddy and Gregory made it to the stage, with them going straight for the button that takes it down. It was directly in the middle of the main stage.
“MONTY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Roxy yelled.
Monty really didn’t want to give himself away but he needed to do this otherwise they would make it on the stage.
“S-sorry-y Rox-xanne-e,” Monty said as he shoved Roxanne back with all his strength, pushing her into Chica for a second time.
“What-?” Monty heard Chica say as the lift started going down.
He locked eyes with her.
She looked upset and angry.
Something Monty hoped he would never need to see again.
“Monty!” Gregory ran up and hugged the gator's leg.
Freddy let out the breath that Monty could only assume he had been holding that entire time.
“Haha, g-good there F-fazbear-r-r?” Monty laughed.
Freddy smiled, “yes. That was genuinely so stressful. I think my fur has turned grey”.
The three of them laughed.
Monty winced and sat down again, due to the glitches and broken speech.
Suddenly, the lights shut off.
“Oh no! What time is it? That moon thing's gonna get me!” Gregory started to panic, looking around the area they were in.
They were all on the main stage elevator, moving down. Pipes and wires covered the walls around them, along with lights illuminating the area. All the walls were shaped in a circle, perfectly fitting the elevator in the middle. There were slight gaps around, letting them look over the edge.
Suddenly, Moon appeared in one of these gaps, gripping the safety bars that surrounded the elevator. He didn’t say anything but looked at the group, smiled and waved at them.
Then he disappeared.
A thud sounded and the elevator stopped, luckily this was just it reaching the bottom.
“It’s past your bedtime,” Moon sounded from somewhere near them.
Freddy called out to Monty, “we need to find a recharge station! There is one just up ahead.”
Monty nodded as they started running (well Monty was more like speed limping), “y-ya can-n take tha-a kid. I-I’ll just w-wait fer ya-a.”
Freddy didn’t answer but Monty knew that he had heard him as he quickly opened his stomach hatch and placed Gregory in. The lights were still off, making it difficult for Monty to see where he was going.
Luckily he has been here a million times.
As he ran past another hallway and a bunch of shelves, Freddy entered the recharge station slightly to the right of the end of the hallway they were in.
Monty sighed a breath of relief but he didn’t have much time to celebrate.
“Hello, Montgomery,” Moon’s raspy voice sounded from directly behind Monty.
The last thing Monty saw before Moon swiftly smashed him on the head was Freddy’s horrified expression.
