Chapter Text

“How do you feel now that you’re a university student?” Sasaki prompts, seeming a little more alive this time around. Usually, the ginger would look in-different around campus, having a complete poker face on. That all changed the moment he entered his second year, to which a fresh batch of first years had joined them, one of which included a certain Miyano Yoshikazu, to which Sasaki had the honors of meeting up with when their break time had just so happened to line up. Now, the ginger’s all smiles as the two of them were sitting on a bench under the shade of a tree, Miyano eating out of his bento box while Sasaki held a sandwich in his hand.

“Well, It doesn’t feel all that different yet! I don’t think I’ll get used to the new classrooms yet though.” Oh, that’s right . First weeks were always for orientation, which meant that Miyano didn’t actually have any classes yet. Sasaki grins, leaning over so his shoulder touches the ravenette’s. “You’ll do well, Myaa-chan. You’ve got this charm to ‘ya , y’know?” Of course he will . Miyano’s always been a good kid. A favourite of the teachers and other students back in high school, hell, he was even in the disciplinary committee! ‘ My boyfriend’s the sweetest .’ his mind supplies, so Sasaki definitely doubts that it would be any different now. Miyano couldn’t help the rush of pink that floods his face at the compliment, barely avoiding choking on his food. “I-I don’t know what you mean by that..” He does. Miyano definitely does know what Sasaki’s on about, but he refuses to acknowledge it.

After the two of them were done eating, Sasaki had decided to show Miyano the more ‘ special’ spots around the campus as he calls it, the spots that they wouldn’t really put focus on during the orientation. Spots where they could sneak some alone time together. However, Miyano only thinks that it’s just a reason for Sasaki to walk around with him until their break ends. “Oh, right! Now that we’re in the same school again, it’s technically not wrong for me to call you ‘Sasaki-senpai’ again.” Miyano brings up, not missing the way Sasaki’s eyes seemed to sparkle at that, or maybe it was just the sunlight peeking past a gap in the pillar they walked by.

Over the year that they’ve been in separate schools from each other, Miyano’s gone from calling Sasaki “senpai” to ‘Shuumei-san’, or even ‘Shuu-kun’ instead since it’d be weird to keep calling him senpai considering that he didn’t really have to anymore at the time. Sasaki had stuck to the normal ‘Myaa-chan’ for him, and sometimes a playful ‘Yoshi-kun’ thrown in if he wanted to tease Miyano. Though, it was only on occasion since Miyano wasn’t quite a big fan of that one. (“It’s weird to hear my boyfriend and mother call me the same thing!” Miyano said.) “You’re right. Are you going to, though?” The look in Sasaki’s eyes seemed suspiciously like expectation, but Miyano wasn’t going to fall for this cunning man’s tactics this time.

Sasaki’s always teasing him, but sometimes Miyano gets the chance to turn the tables on him. “Dunno. I’m used to calling you Shuumei-san now.” Miyano feigned indifference, shrugging a little. “It’s not that it’s any different right? Don’t your friends call you Shuumei too?” Almost immediately in response to Miyano’s words, Sasaki shook his head no. “They don’t. I’m Sasaki to them.” Technically, it was the truth. His friends rarely ever call him Shuumei anyways! “But you’re my kouhai, Myaa-chan, and I’m your senpai!” Miyano giggles, not missing the change in the ginger’s tone as he intertwines his arm with Sasaki’s. ‘Man, he really wants me to call him that, huh? Maybe he just misses it.’ Knowing Sasaki, he definitely does miss hearing Miyano call him that. Internally, he’s secretly melting over how cute Sasaki was acting right now.

“Alright, alright. I’ll call you Sasaki-senpai when we’re at school then.” The ravenette looks up at Sasaki with bright eyes, his lips curling up to match the smile present on Sasaki’s face. “But only in school.” It wouldn’t be that out of place anyways. People will just think that he’s extra respectful. Sasaki hums in acceptance, he didn’t want to take the teasing too far after all. “Okay. You’re still gonna call me Shuumei outside of school?” Miyano nods in response, what else would he call Sasaki if not Shuumei-san outside of school? A hand moves up to the top of Miyano’s head, ruffling up the soft black hair, much to Miyano’s opposition. “Shuu–!” Miyano almost whined, pulling the ginger’s hand off his head by his wrist. Sasaki couldn’t help but laugh.

‘He’s cute. Still as cute as ever’, his mind provides, accompanying the sight of Miyano fixing up his hair. “Don’t you mean Sasaki-senpai?” Subsequently, Sasaki receives a light, playful hit to his arm, one that he rightfully deserves in Miyano’s opinion. “Shut up! You’re gonna make me regret this..” Miyano starts before Sasaki responds with another laugh. “You know..” Sasaki’s voice trailed off a little as he stopped in his tracks, holding on to Miyano’s shoulders lightly. “I don’t care what you call me. It’s fine if you want to use my first, or last name.”

All of a sudden, the atmosphere tensed. Sasaki seemed so serious out of nowhere, but all Miyano could do was nod quickly as he felt the heat creep up his face again. “Got.. Got it. I don’t mind anything you’d want to call me too.” Miyano tries to stay as calm as possible, lowering his head instinctively. “Ex-Except Yoshi-kun. Not that one.” Sasaki smiles at the last part, nodding. Strong arms pull Miyano in for a hug, keeping him close for a second. “Got it, Myaa-chan.”

Back at class, Sasaki barely gets a moment to breathe when he sits down. Ugawa’s instantly nudging at his side, bugging him to talk even though Sasaki’s too busy counting down the hours ‘til he gets to see Miyano again. ‘Maybe I should’ve asked for his schedule earlier..’ The ginger grimaces, turning his head once he finally decided to entertain Ugawa a little. His not-too-intimidating-but-still-scary glare was enough of a signal to Ugawa that he’s got Sasaki’s attention. “Was that guy you were with earlier your-” Before Ugawa could even finish his sentence Sasaki cuts him off with a punch to his shoulder, already knowing what exactly his question was going to be about.

“Yes. Yes it is. You’d better not pick on him.”

“Not like I was plannin’ to! He’s got one hell of a guy looking out for him anyways.”

‘Yeah. That’s me . I’m the guy lookin’ out for Myaa-chan.’

And all of a sudden, Sasaki’s smiling, much to Ugawa’s confusion. ‘This guy, really...’
