Chapter Text
“Ow ow ow ow ow owwwww… that hurts…” Black Sapphire complained as Pure Vanilla finished covering his eyesocket with dough. “You said you didn’t want a replacement, so this is the only other option. Don’t blame me.” Pure Vanilla replies, wrapping his eye in a bandage once again. “I didn’t think it would hurt that bad…” He grumbles, crossing his arms. “Well its to be expected, your eye is still injured.” Pure Vanilla responds, putting away his supplies and standing up.
Shadow Milk was sulking in the corner, obviously annoyed that he had had to stay longer than expected. Candy Apple is bouncing next to Black Sapphire, energetic and bored. “When can we do something? Its boooriing here!” Candy Apple whines, flopping onto the ground. “I wanna go home…”
“We don’t have a home, Candy Apple.” Black Sapphire points out, pulling his blanket over himself.
“Well we can rebuild the spire! Right Master Shadow Milk?” Candy Apple asks, jumping up.
“The spire still has the bodies of those creatures inside of it, and even if we try there are more of those creatures roaming around beast yeast.” Shadow Milk explains, looking up at her.
“Then where are we supposed to live?” Black Sapphire asks, watching Candy Apple. “What about you, Mystic Flour?”
“My home was destroyed by the creatures as well. I thought I made that clear when I came to you for help.” She explains, in the corner of the room, Cloud Haetae asleep in her lap.
“I don’t know. We can figure that out.” Shadow Milk says, annoyance clear in his voice. “Ugh this place sucks! I wanna do something!!”
“I have Uno if you three would like to play.” Pure Vanilla suggests, walking over to the trio. “Oooh we should play Uno!!”
“No.”
“Pleeaase Master Shadow Milk?”
“No.”
“Pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase?” Candy Apple whined, and Black Sapphire spoke up. “I agree with her, it would be entertaining at the least. Mystic Flour, would you like to join?”
“Those games are pointless.”
“Is that a no?”
“I will… consider it.” Mystic Flour says, and Candy Apple squeals with excitement. “yay!” She runs over to Shadow Milk. “Can we pleeaase do it now?”
“Fine…” He grumbles, and she jumps up with excitement.
“I will get the cards.” Pure Vanilla says, smiling before walking away.
“You two are insufferable…” Shadow Milk mutters, walking over to where Black Sapphire was sitting and sitting next to him, Candy Apple across from Black Sapphire. After a moment Pure Vanilla returned with the pack of Uno cards, sitting down across from Shadow Milk and taking out the cards. Candy Apple watched as he shuffled the cards, handing out cards to each of them and putting the remaining cards in the center of the circle. “Do you know how to play?” Pure Vanilla asked, looking between the three.
“Of course I know how to play Uno!” Candy Apple confirms, rolling her eyes. “I was just asking.” Pure Vanilla comments, placing down a card.
A lot of Uno later. I’m too lazy to write all of that dialogue and stuff. Basically Pure Vanilla beats Shadow Milk a bunch and Shadow Milk gets mad and wins all the remaining matches except for one where Black Sapphire wins. Also Mystic Flour joins at some point.
“I didn’t know you were so good at Uno, Shadow Milk.” Pure Vanilla comments, collecting the cards.
“What did you expect?” Shadow Milk asks, going back to the corner of the room that he has claimed. “I do not know.”
“Whatever.” Shadow Milk grumbles, laying down on his blankets (he claimed multiple blankets aka stole them from Pure Vanilla) and closing his eyes. “Master Shadow Milk, it isn’t even seven yet. How are you already tired?” Black Sapphire asks, watching him. “I’m not tired. I’m just thinking.”
“Thinking about sleep?” Candy Apple asks, plopping down next to him. “Thinking about the spire.” He says, sitting up and throwing a balled up blanket at her, which covers her head. “Its quite understandable, since your home was destro-” “Shut up.” Shadow Milk snaps, interrupting Pure Vanilla, who was changing Black Sapphire's bandages once again. “My apologies. I did not realize that was a sensitive topic.” Pure Vanilla apologizes, tying up Black Sapphire's new bandages. “I do have a question for you, Shadow Milk.”
“What is it?” Shadow Milk responds, pulling a blanket up over himself.
“Earlier you said that the corpses of those creatures that attacked you are still in the spire, correct?” Pure Vanilla asks, sitting down next to him. “Yes, what about it?” Shadow Milk snaps, obviously annoyed at the seemingly pointless question. “I would like to know if it would be possible for you to go back and take some form of sample from the creatures. I know someone who can possibly help figure out what it is.” Pure Vanilla explains, and Shadow Milk looks shocked. “Are you fucking serious?? Those things nearly crumbled the three of us and you want us to go back?? There are more of them in Beast Yeast!”
“They might have left towards a different area of Beast Yeast. And if you do see them, you can always come back.” Pure Vanilla suggests.
“This plan seems intriguing. I will participate, if Shadow Milk agrees.” Mystic Flour speaks up, and Pure Vanilla smiles. Shadow Milk rolls his eyes before speaking. “Fine, fine, but if we get crumbled its your fault.” Shadow Milk says, and Pure Vanilla nods. “You two can go tomorrow. I can take care of your children while you are gone.”
“They aren’t children.” Shadow Milk corrects, and Pure Vanilla laughs before walking over to his bed. Mystic Flour went back to her spot next to the balcony door with Cloud Haetae, letting the fluffy cookie curl up on her lap, gently petting their head. Meanwhile, Candy Apple and Black Sapphire lay on/next to (a very confused and not used to this) Shadow Milk. He pulled the blanket over them, hearing Candy Apple squeal as it covered her face. “Don’t do that!” She squeaked, and Black Sapphire laughed, pulling the blanket over her head again. “Go to sleep you two…” Shadow Milk grumbled, closing his eyes.
That night
Black Sapphire woke up, gasping for air, his head pounding and injuries throbbing with pain. He sat up, holding his head as the pain grew worse and worse. It felt like something was moving around beneath where his eye used to be. He looked in the reflection of the window, seeing the dough above where his eye previously was is now covered in moving white stuff. He tried to brush it off and it came off on his hand. “What is this…” He mumbled as it dissolved into his dough.
