Chapter 3: I love you...

Summary:

IM BACK IN THE FUCKIN OFFICE AGAIN

Chapter Text

Simon felt like the universe was playing tricks on him. Cruel, cruel tricks, sending him into a path of insanity.

After 4 years of constant pain and body aches. Of restless nights spent on bed tossing and turning. After four years of nonstop self loathing, thinking he could've done better, daydreaming of what he could've done to prevent all this chaos did he finally get word that it may not have been all his fault.

A simple phone call that led him to rush to the hospital, racing down the street.

A phone call that led him to…

You.

Questions swarm his head, how could you be here? What happened? Why were you missing so long? He thought you were dead. How are you turning up out of thin air just "fine"?

He quickly filled out some paperwork to see you. He followed the instructions to your room.

'Down the hall, up the elevator to floor three' the paper was being crushed in his hands

'Take a left till you reach the center with other nurses' the sticker was on his chest, reading "visitor". 'Pass the nurses to the right and find room 141' Ironic he thought.

He paused in front of the door, his breath hitched seeing you sitting there silently reading a book in your hospital gown. There was an IV in your arm, several bandages on your arms and he could see some bandages that were on your legs. Glasses perched on the tip of your nose, body gently moving with each breath you took. Even with how longer your hair grew, the difference in your face from the past years since he saw you.

You looked up from your book looking at the door, Ghost looking right back at you.

He tentatively took a step towards you, he felt like he was going crazy. You were here, you're alive!

Tears blurred his vision as he finally reached you, right by your side, you reached out silently wiping away his tears. He leaned into your hand, cupping your hand.

"Thought you were dead" he said, his voice rough from not talking in so long.

"Thought i was too." You muttered looking at him, taking in the details of his face. The scars on his lips and cheeks. The paler look, the grown out hair and tired eyes that told you he suffered more after the whole mission.

He suddenly pulled you into a hug, now you were tearing up. The gentle pressure of his hug broke the dam. "What happened to you, h-how did you survive? Why were you missing so long?" He asked not letting go.

A small sob slip from your lips. "I'm sorry." You cried "I'm so sorry, i could've done better. You wouldn't have been alone for so long if i would've done my part."

"What." He said pulling back to look at you "you think its your fault? The whole mission was doomed to fail from the start." Hypocrite he told himself.

"I should've looked out for the warnings, i messed up." You sobbed as he just hugged you tighter.

"Its okay… we are okay now." He mumbles tired, he just was glad you were here. That you were alive even after everything. He held your head to his chest, rubbing your back. The book you held earlier long forgotten on the hospital bed.

"we will start a new, we will push through. Remember the promise? Shopping downtown, the beach day? Me and you, we will complete it soon." He tried distracting you from blaming yourself. You nodded finally easing down on the crying.

"im sorry." You apologized again

"Its not your fault, stop apologizing." He grumbled "apologize one more time and I'm throwout you in a pool."

You huffed out a laugh "there isn't any pools around here?" He smiled and shrugged

"Ill make it work." He paused looking away. "I care about you, a lot. Dont… don't ever leave me again okay?"

You smiled softly "I wont Simon. I love you too." He pressed a kiss to your forehead, just like last time.

"I love you as well."
