Chapter Text
Newt had been silent ever since Thomas revealed the truth to him. His stubbornness was manifesting in refusing to eat or drink, much to everyone's concern. He remained distant and withdrawn, even as they arrived at the safe haven. Newt refused to look at Thomas as he was led off the berg, hands still restrained incase he tried to bolt.
Thomas and Minho led him to a hut in the wolds, secure and isolated from the rest of the safe haven just in case.
“So this is my new home? What are you gonna do? Torture me for information?” Newt spat out bitterly, “or are you going to tell me more of your ‘truths’” Thomas sighed, “Stop being stubborn newt no one's torturing anyone. Now behave.”
Newt scoffed but let himself be led into the hut. It was quite small but comfortable for one person with a bed, a dresser and some clothes in a makeshift wardrobe. The only thing that made it clear this was for a hostage and not a normal member of the safe haven was the chain attached to the foot of the bed.
“I'm guessing I'm going to have to wear that then…” Newt muttered, eyeing the chain. “Temporarily yes until we can get that chip deactiv-” “THERE IS NO CHIP!” Newt screamed at Thomas, clearly in serious denial. Thomas just sighed and glanced at Minho who was beginning to untie Newt's hands and attached one end of the chain around Newt's foot.
“There is. And we will get rid of it.” Thomas said calmly, “for now get some rest..” Newt looked at him, “where is Teresa staying?” He asked, genuine curiosity and concern in his eyes, “She's staying in a makeshift cell,” Thomas replied gently, “she's perfectly safe.” Newt didn't look too convinced but nodded all the same.
After Newt was settled, Thomas and Minho quietly left. “We have to get rid of that chip.” Minho stated bluntly. “I know I know…” Thomas replied in an exasperated voice, “but until then let's just try get him to trust us…” the pair nodded at one another before going their separate ways.
