Chapter Text

"from the dead, she shall rise!"

"Take the offering and be my knife!"

"The evil shall be vanquished!!"

"Here I stand, before the burning flames and darkness around"

"Take my body and all my might, in return I shall ask for one thing."

"kill all those who did me ill!!, TAKE MY REVENGE!!"

"WIE WUXIAN!!! FROM THE POWERS OF HELL AND DEAD I COMMAND YOU TO RESSURECT AND TAKE MY REVENGE!!!!"

My head is pounding. What is happening? Where am I?  I try to open my eyes and look at my surroundings, wait, what? Shouldn't I be dead? I am sure of it! There is no way I could have survived the blast after destroying the amulet. It was too disastrous. But this place isn't the mounds, this looks like it's a shabby cottage, there are tailsmans all around the house covering the walls and the floor. Every inch of  the house is covered with them ,drawn with human blood. Wait, I recognise the patterns, they are familiar.

Is that? No, it can't be! But this is the only logical explanation for me being alive?! It's the resurrection curse!! It can bring back the dead by the person doing the ritual, offering their body for a sacrifice to gain their wishes.........

What the hell, a person can't even die in peace without people interrupting now,

There are 6 cuts on my hands, one for each person I have to kill for revenge. My body feels weird and heavy as if it's weighing me down, but I guess that's what happens when you have been dead for too long, but have I been dead for long? Gosh, don't tell me this is like 2 weeks after, gonna be quite embarrassing announcing my resurrection 2 weeks after dying....

I scanned around the room and picked up a crumpled piece of paper. i unfolded it and was surprised to see it crammed with words.i hurriedly gathered all of the paper. The words on the paper must have been written by the person performing the sacrificing ritual to vent when she felt stressed. Some sentences were incoherent and disordered; anxiety leaped off of the page through the distorted handwriting. i sat through every single piece of paper, and began to notice that something was wrong. i took a few guesses and roughly understood the state of things. this girls grandfather was from a rich family of the area. His family was few in number, and, although he tried at it, he only had two daughters. Their names were not mentioned, but the elder one was the daughter of his principal wife, looking for a husband to marry into the family, while the younger one was the daughter of a servant. The family originally wanted to hastily give her to someone, but an adventure awaited her. When she was sixteen, the leader of a well-known cultivation family was passing by the area, and fell in love with her at first sight. Everyone admires cultivators. Cultivation families, in the eyes of common folk, are like people favored by God, mysterious yet noble. In the beginning, the people of  Village regarded the topic with contempt, but because the Sect Leader often helped out, the family received plenty of advantages. And so, the direction of the discussions changed, and the family took pride in the matter, while everyone else also envied the opportunity. The second-lady of Mo bore one daughter for the leader

But, not for long, since the Sect Leader was only involved with her to experiment with something new, he grew tired of it in a few years. After the gurl turned four, his father never came back again. Gradually, the opinions of the Village’s people changed again. The original contempt and scorn returned, alongside with disdainful pity. The second-lady of Mo did not want to accept this; she firmly believed that the Sect Leader would not turn a deaf ear to his own daughter. Sure enough, when girl turned fourteen, the Sect Leader took her back. The second-lady stuck her nose up in the air again, and told everyone that her daughter would most certainly become an Immortal as fast as she could, and bring glory on her ancestors. However, before the girl could achieve success in cultivation and inherit her father’s position, she was driven back. rather shamefully at that. she was framed and scandalised to have slept with multiple man and that she had lost her mind when she even tried seducing Jin Guangyao her half brother!! another one of bastard child of jin sect leader, The scandal was revealed to the public and, as she had few achievements in terms of cultivation, there were no reasons for her to stay in the clan.

Like adding frost to snow, aside from the event itself, when she returned, she often behaved in a crazy manner, almost as if her life was scared out of her. The story was almost too complex to be put into words. my brow twitched, i knew those jin's were bad news and i knew i wouldn't be the first victim of their sly words and clever plans...

I stand up, my legs are trembling from lack of movement, but I can do it; I have gone through worse. I open the door to realise it's still nighttime, and this cottage seems to be on the outskirts of a village. There seem to be people guarding the house well, more like two teenagers. They must be someone of low cultivation since they haven't even seemed to have noticed me coming outside. It's only after I start walking towards them do one of them notices me

"You lunatic, how dare you come out after we warned you not to?!" yelled one of them, well, i guess they aren't guarding me for my protection....haha lol who would think of protecting me?

The boy seems to be coming towards me, probably to throw me back in, but before he could grab my hand, I stepped aside and sneaked my leg in front of him, making him trip face-first on the ground. That's what happens when you mess with me. "Who are you calling a lunatic while acting like one yourself?" I said, looking down on him. Before he could respond with some further bullshit, I smacked him on the neck, making him lie unconscious. I just came back from the dead and have a revenge to take. I haven't got time for this child's play. I turned out looking at the other disciple. I need some answers first.

"You, what year is this?" The other teen just seems to have gotten out of a trance after hearing my voice; it's probably shocking to see the apparent "lunatic" taking out one of their men.

"MO XINYI!!! HOW DARE YOU RAISE A HAND ON A DISCIPLE?!!" the other teen starts running towards me but after seeing his sloppy posture i knew he is no match for me even with low energy i have in this body of mine, i grab him by the throat tighnening my hold on his neck summoning a little bit of the resentful energy just enough to let him know he is at my mercy and shoulndt be stupid enough to anger me again.

"I will ask again and for the last time, what year is it?" I said my patience is thinning out, I have just been undead. And now two people are attacking me again. Give this girl a break, for God's sake!

"It's the year of qunsu!" he said, gasping for air as my hands loosened around his neck. It has been.......13 years? It felt like just 1 second. I had been there at the mounds destroying the amulet just a moment ago, and now suddenly 13 years have passed?...

No, I don't have the time to drown in my sorrows, I need to take the revenge and save my soul from shattering, and then........and then what?....should I just kill myself again?..... at least I will recarnate into a new life, a new beginning.

"Who am I?" I demanded, the disciple seemed to be confused at my question, but still answered hesitantly, "You are Mo Xinyi of the Mo clan...."

Mo Xinyi? The Mo clan? They must not be a major clan for me to not know their name, thank god. Massacring a famous clan would make it hard to disguise myself.

"Where is the Mo clan residence?" the boy pointed in the direction and hit him hard enough to make him unconscious.

Making my way towards the village, so much has changed in 13 years and nothing at all at the same time. People still hated me just the same.

I stopped in my tracks as I heard it, a song, a tune.....our song, he couldn't be here? Could he? Maybe it's my brain playing tricks on me, but i could recognise this tune even in my dreams, he really was here. lan zhan, how would he be doing after all these years? He must be 30 now lol i can't imagine a 30 year old lan zhan , he must have married a noble and well mannered maiden someone who could match his noble and serene presence not someone like me who walked the crooked path with chaos following her every step. he desrves it, a happy life, a counterpart who understands and matches him in every aspect. he must have a child too now woudnt he? I had one too, one I couldn't protect.....

I need to avoid Lan Zhan at all costs; he will definitely recognize me. I can't bring him trouble after all these years. How would he react if he knew about me? Would he try to kill me like the rest of the world? He never approved of my crooked path, wanting to take me to Gusu to punish me. But he never truly harmed me physically......he was the only one who never did harm to me.

I start walking again, leaving the sound of the guqin behind me
