Chapter Text
Seongje was never a morning person. He’s never seen a reason to be happy as soon as he wakes up. Too early for happiness. Getting ready for school and eating alone in his empty apartment didn’t put a pep in his step either, the only comfort being the meowing cat yearning for her breakfast as she nudges her head into the boys leg.
He takes his bike with him into school, feeling too tired to wait around for a bus for 25 minutes. With some of his lackeys meeting him at the gate, his day suddenly seems a lot more busy than he thought, as he hears word of a new kid in his year, a weak, oblivious new student. And suddenly Seongjes morning is worthy of happiness.
His morning classes pass by as he tunes them out, currently devising his next plan of bothering Sieun in any and every way possible. All lessons merge into one, with Seongje occasionally tuning back in to write a couple notes, talk to friends and throw scrunched up balls of paper at the boy in front of him.
When lunch rolls around, his group find their usual spot to camp at outside, an area to smoke where the cameras won’t see them. Seongjes ‘crew’ all rally up the idea to approach the new kid, lay out the basics and inform him of the Ganghak hierarchy. Seongje finds is pathetic how they’ve waited for him to return before doing so, all the while sounding so confident in themselves when devising this plan. None the less, he goes along with it.
They spot him with two other students, nobody that Seongje would recognise outside of the uniform.
“Oi, new kid!” One yells to the group as they approach, causing the trios heads to turn. The two randoms start tugging at the new kids sleeve, but their attempts fall short when Seongjes friends pick up the pace and a few swiftly find their way over with them.
“Nothing to be nervous of, we just wanted to welcome you”
“We’re just looking out for you, letting you know what’s up, you know?”
Although the comments sound friendly, the passive and sarcastic undertones don’t go unnoticed.
“I think I’m okay, thank you” he squeaks out
Seongje begins to step forward, catching up with the few that ran “Yo, newbie, nice to meet you” Seongje says, making immense eye contact with the shorter boy. Seongje’s friends start to separate the new comer from his friends, isolating the two nobodies from reaching the other.
1
The eye contact remains heavy
2
Clearly someone forgot to inform the new guy on how things work around here
3
Oh he’s in for it.
The crowd of friends, realising what’s about to happen, start swarming around the two, caging the smaller boy between them all. Seongje takes his glasses off and hands his phone to one of his lackeys, something he never would have done without the memory of Sieun lecturing him for not doing so before fighting being a fresh reminder.
Seongje cracks his knuckles, all when
“Wait!” The new kid cries out “Sieun, Yeon Sieun!”
Seongje freezes into place, how the fuck does this kid know of Sieun? And how does he know that Seongje knows Sieun?
Questions buzz through Seongje as he pauses in his stance, the small crowd being confused on the hold up yet nobody daring to question it.
“What the fuck do you know about Sieun?” Seongje snaps
“We’re friends, he told me to let you know so you would leave me alone”
Seongje was baffled that not only did Sieun assume he had the power of Seongje to decide that…
…but also from the fact that he wasn’t completely wrong to think that way.
“If I find out you’re lying, ill fucking kill you tomorrow newbie” Seongje spits out as the bell rings “Until then, you better hope you didn’t just lie to me” He throws the last comment over his shoulder as he walks back, his minions following exactly in his footsteps.
The rest of the day has Seongjes mind occupied with questions about this kid. Apparently his name is Sung Gyu. Stupid fucking name.
How does he know Sieun? Why hasn’t he ever heard of him? Why does Sieun care enough to protect him? What are they to each other? So many questions, yet no answers.
Sieun was for sure getting a surprise visit now.
As the day carries on between one boring lesson to another, Seongje counts down the seconds until he can see Sieun and gain some answers. Once the bell finally rings, Seongje is out that door before anyone could even say bye to him. The rumble of his bike engine being heard off into the distance.
Sieuns day is far from over yet, his first school is over when he has about another 2 hours of learning ahead. Sieun would have gotten lost in thought if it weren’t for the faint noise of an engine from the corner of the building, Seongje waving to him from his bike in the distance.
Sieun can instantly see the plan for tonight laid out already, Seongje drops him off at cram school, picks him up and takes him out for food after. Then he drops Sieun home and potentially sleeps over again. This is exactly how today was going, as after cram school they in fact went and got food.
Sitting opposite from each other, Seongjes able to make easy eye contact with the other, 3 seconds passing countless times with not a care in the world. Seongje didn’t mind if Sieun stares, he really likes the thought of it actually.
“Hear you’ve picked up some charity case” Seongje starts off strong
“What?” Sieun questions
“You know, protecting the new kid at my school from me”
“Oh, yeah. Didn’t think he would mention it”
Seongje starts to get annoyed at imaginary answers to questions he has yet to even ask. So he asks them all.
“How’d you meet?”
“Cram school”
“Why havent you mentioned him to me before?”
“I only met him yesterday”
“Why do you care about him?”
“I don’t, he just wants to be my friend for some reason”
“What are you to each other?”
…
“You’re so jealous” Sieun mumbles, eyes now looking down at his bowl as he swirls round his noodles
“You didn’t answer” Seongje fires
“I don’t have to” Sieun fires back just as fast
There’s a brief pause between the two, Seongje staring holes into Sieun as the other continues to play with his food
“You hardly know him” Seongje says in more of a quiet tone than before, but still remaining firm
“I don’t know him” Just as that’s been said, Sieuns phone buzzes with an incoming call. The name ‘GYU’ appearing across the screen goes noticed by both boys before they start fighting for the phone. Eventually, Seongje wins it to answer.
“What?” He practically spits out
“Oh, is this Sieun? You sound a little different” The muffled voice says on the other end of the call. Sieun managed to catch Seongje off guard and swipes the phone back
“Its Sieun, what do you need?”
“Sieun, you left your notebook behind at cram, I thought you might want it back so I took it” Seongje can faintly hear the conversation, fists balled up tightly until his knuckles turn white.
“Oh, thanks” Sieuns voice remains plain “I can come get it, where are you?”
“Im at the bus stop next to the school”
“Alright, I’ll be there in a minute” Sieun stands up to leave, staring at Seongje like an unspoken invitation to join
“Seriously? He’s interrupting our dates now” Seongje whines as he places the money on the table before leaving to his bike outside
“It’ll only be quick, come on” Sieun nudges his shoulder towards the motorbike for Seongje to get on first, but before that the taller grabs his hand to spin him round
“Hold on” He mumbles as he slides the helmet onto the shorter boys head and clipping it up at the bottom “There you go” He places a quick peck on the top of the helmet before patting the others shoulder and hopping onto the bike “Lets get going, got to go see your lover!”
Sieun is frozen in place. For some reason, although the kiss didn’t even make contact with his skin, the endearment alone made Sieun feel so strange and light. He’s never had someone to care for him the way Seongje does, to choose his safety over theirs, to put him first. Let alone to do so with such kindness.
After Sieun gets over his brief moment of self discovery he gets moving onto the bike “He’s not my lover”
“That’s right, I am” Before Sieun can even try to argue back, the bikes engine roars to life and they zip down the road
The drive is quiet, its hard to have conversation when on a bike. Sieun doesn’t mind it though, although he does have to hold Seongjes waist, he gets a nice headrest on the others back. They take a small break to fill up on gas, whilst Sieun wants to take the helmet off for a second. Whilst Seongje is turned away pumping the gas, Sieun gets the impulsive thought to touch Seongjes back. He stupidily does so, causing the other to jump slightly at the sudden contact. Sieun grazes his fingers along the thin t-shirt, he can feel muscle and scars rigid through the fabric.
“Sorry…” Sieun mumbles out of embarrassment, he has no clue why he followed his thoughts through
“Its alright, I imagine what you look like naked too” Seongje says without even blinking as if its the most normal thing to say to your ‘friend’
“Who said I think about you like that?! You just had something on your shirt” He lies between his teeth as a blush starts creeping up his face
“Probably from the fact I could see through the reflection of the pumps that there’s nothing on my back and you were just feeling me up right now”
This is so embarrassing, he completely saw through Sieuns lie
“Oh..”
Seongje spins around to go pay inside the station without saying a word. Sieun can’t get over the fact that Seongje completely just saw right through him and knows that he was really just admiring the other. After a couple minutes, the boy walks out the station with some coins and a small white carrier bag.
“Got some snacks for later, since you never finished your food” Seongje says, placing the carrier bag into his backpack before getting back onto the bike “Come on, your friends waiting” Sieun follows through by slipping the helmet back on and swinging a leg over.
“Feel free to keep feeling me up”
“Shut up and drive”
The drive continues on the same as before, as they pull up to the bus stop
“Sieun!” Gyu shouts out, standing up from where he’d been comfortably sat before to rush over
“Hi” Sieun says slipping the helmet off once more, Gyus excited demeanour washes away when Seongje turns to face him
“Hey again” He says with a playful smirk, noticing how the relaxed look on Gyu's face melted away
“Hi..”
“So, my book?” Sieun says, jumping straight to the point
Gyu seems to remember what they were here for now “Ah yes, let me just…” he takes his bag off his shoulder and starts digging through it
“Any day now would be good, we got places to be” Seongje complains, earning a small smack on the shoulder from Sieun
“Sorry, its just right here” Gyu pulls out the blue notebook with Sieuns name on and hands it over
“Thank you, Sung Gyu”
“I told you, Gyu’s just fine” The other says with a weak smile
“Alright, bye now” Sieun says as he turns to walk away
“Wait!” Gyu yells out “I was just wondering, would you maybe like to hangout sometime. I don’t have a lot of friends here yet”
“Sure, I have to get going now” Sieun says bluntly, but not rudely
“Alright, Bye Sieun” Gyu calls out completely ignoring Seongje
“Bye newbie” The taller of the group, feeling a little left out, lets himself be known. He follows after Sieun before talking again “Third wheeling that was painful you know?”
“What are you even on about?”
Seongjes voice not has a mocking tone “OMG lets hang out sometime Sieunnie, you’re like, my best friend!”
“Its nothing like that, why are you so jealous of this guy anyways?” Sieun asks
“Im not jealous, I’m just aware of how he seems” Seongje states “you should have seen him at school, crying out your name like it was his lifeline” Sieun doesn’t bother talking back, just lets Seongje ramble on about how weird this kid seems to be about him. Eventually Seongje drives them to his, saying he has to feed Boo and Sieun has to see this new trick she can do.
“Boo, do it again” Seongje demands from the little black kitten “Boo you did it yesterday, I know you remember”
“Maybe you’re just crazy and delusional”
“Shhhh she’s gonna do it” And finally, Boo does her little party trick of putting her paw against Seongjes slightly raised hand.
“Good girl! My princess is so clever” Seongjes fussing the cat who now leaps off his lap, where him and Sieun are sprawled out on the couch.
“She’s very smart” Sieun praises her as she rubs her head against his leg. As Sieun goes to stroke her, he sees sudden movement that catches his attention. Safe to say he’s starting at the sudden movement, which just happens to be Seongje taking off his shirt, revealing the back that managed to take up so much room in Sieuns mind.
“What are you doing?” Sieun asks, which sounds more like him telling the other off
“Don’t act like you don’t want to look, where’d your confidence go?” Seongjes now facing him, full upper body on show. Slowly, the taller starts to lean closer. Sieun has no clue where to look, at the scarred chest, the noticeable biceps, the smooth abs that cover Seongjes stomach. Getting in fights must be physically demanding, or he must go to the gym. Clearly, there’s stuff to Seongje that Sieun doesn’t know about. He knew the boy was strong, but he didn’t realise he was this impressive. “You’re look so cute when you’re surprised” Still inching closer until Seongjes breath is tickling the end of his nose. “You can touch” Sieuns arm is being lead round to Seongjes back now, with his hand being dropped onto of it, he starts gliding his fingers slowly over all the bumps of muscles and edges of scarred skin.
“Seongje…” Sieun whispers onto the others skin
“You like what you’re feeling? You’ve been starring all day”
“No I haven-“ Sieuns interrupted when he feels the weight distribution, Seongjes resting his lower body on Sieuns legs to balance himself up. Sieun can suddenly feel more of he other than he ever has before “Seongje I can feel your…” being too awkward to say more, he allows the sentence hang in the air
“Is it a problem?” Seongje asks
“I guess not, but you are heavy” Seongje just laughs to that. Sieuns hands still graze over Seongjes back, he doesn’t understand why he has such a deep fascination to it.
“Sieun can I do something?” Seongje asks, his gaze giving away what he’s inferring too
“Do what?” Sieun asks obliviously
“This” Seongje closes the gap between the two of them as his lips meet the others. Sieuns breath is knocked out of him, not expecting Seongje to go straight for it. Their lips fall into rhythm fast, acting like this isn’t their first time together. Before Sieun can even think about fighting back against this, he finds himself wrapping an arm around the others neck. Slowly, they pull apart, starring into each others eyes before sharing a small laugh that fills the quiet apartment and returning back to connecting their lips.
Seongje flips them round to where now Sieuns sat on his lap, with his own back against the back of the couch. Seongje hoists himself up, tapping onto Sieuns thighs to signify for him to wrap his legs round. Pulling away from the kiss, Seongje talks
“Lets go somewhere comfier, I want this to be good for you” Seongje stands up and walks them to the bedroom, laying Sieun down gently onto the bed as he crawls up to be ontop of him again.
They don’t get much further than kissing that night, occasionally kisses travel further down to necks or collarbones, but they play it slow. No rushing, there’s no need, they know they have the time to take it slow.
