Waking up, Cenvil was quite dazed, he hadn’t slept well with the anticipation of finally getting to properly stretch. Sitting up he unlocked the seal on his helmet and removed it, vibrant orange hair messily falling over his face.
He then took off the rest of his indis suit, revealing the sleek black undersuit and stretched so hard he had a small cramp in his leg. He then walked outside to his warp arrow, Maxwell following close behind, to get some of the clothes he had brought. Waving to the human sitting on its porch on the way. however it must have been fairly startled by him, as it dropped the small ceramic mug it was holding, which thankfully didn’t break.
Entering his warp arrow, he grabbed a garment quite like a human lab coat and a pair of silky black pants, as well as a light gray undershirt, which he personally liked as it was extremely soft. After he had changed, he headed to the human’s cabin to have a proper introduction. But as he turned to leave, he noticed a small red light near the front console, as he investigated the light, he found a small switch labeled “Parking brake” flipped on, he had the parking brake on his entire trip. He had thought it was weird that it took so long to get here.
“Well that was a sight” Kenvis said to himself, his habit of talking to himself once again showing, picking up the mug he dropped walked inside to change his now tea soaked shirt, almost completely on autopilot as he was still startled from having the alien wave at him, not wearing whatever armor it was wearing before, letting him finally put a face to his new neighbor, or at least what he could see from that distance.
Changing into a surprisingly comfortable shirt he had found in a locker in the observatory ruins, he remarked at how similar the orange on the faded logo was to the alien’s hair, yet he was quickly drawn from that thought as a small knock sounded from the door, and he was pretty sure who it was.
Opening the door, he was expecting a seven-foot-tall alien not his much shorter mother.
“Hey Ken! How’ve you been?” his mother said, this was not the conversation he was expecting.
“I’ve told you I don’t like that nickname, how about I start calling you Susie?” Kenvis added jokingly “Anyways what brings you this far out?” He questioned, stepping out of the way as to let her in.
“I was just stopping by to check in, it's been almost a year since I’ve seen you” she was right, he had almost completely isolated himself, which had been quite peaceful until he got a new neighbor.
Almost as if she read his mind his mother spoke “what’s with the second cabin?”
“Just something to keep busy with” a terrible lie he hoped that would suffice, “anyway why don’t you come sit for a while” he wasn’t sure that telling her his neighbor was an alien would go well, so he couldn’t be to suspicions.
“I shouldn’t keep you too long, after all you choose to live in a forest for a reason, just wanted to bring you something” she said as she handed him a small package.
After she had left, he looked over at his neighbor's cabin to see its hopefully invisible ship as he really hoped it saw his mother arrive, and he could, although faintly as he trained his eyes on the small triangular outline.
When he peeled back the brown paper he found a small pin with a pine tree on it, quite a nice gesture, pinning it to his shirt he walked back inside.
As he shut the door, Kenvis went to grab one of the few remaining cups of mystery yogurt, something he still couldn’t name the flavor of. After he finished the cup, he heard another knock, this time much firmer.
As he opened the door he first noticed the same vivid orange hair he had seen when it walked past, then the outfit; a light gray undershirt covered by garment resembling a lab coat with a single button at the neck. And black pants striped with white and teal stripes down each side.
Then he saw the face; pale, white skin similar in color to the ship he had seen hovering near the other cabin. purple eyes and ears that split at the base, almost looking as two. A friendly, fanged smile, and a face reminiscent of a cat’s, yet quite human at the same time.
It then extended a six-fingered hand which he returned as a handshake, albeit shakily.
“Hello, I-” the alien was quickly cut off by a crack of thunder as rain started to fall.
“Mind if I come in? I’d rather not get wet” it spoke with an accent he couldn’t quite place.
“Y-yeah, just duck through the doorway” Kenvis said, quite shakily.
As the alien walked into the cabin Maxwell quickly ran from behind, eager to get out of the rain. It stumbled a bit as the cat wove between its legs. As it walked past him, he was surprised to notice it had a tail, sleek white like the rest of it, aside from an arrow shaped tuft of fur at the tip, the same color as its hair.
As he led the alien inside, he motioned towards the small couch near his chair for it to sit. As it sat the couch made a low groan in protest of its weight, which looked to be almost all muscle, something that frightened him slightly. They sat in silence for a moment before Kenvis spoke up.
“Soooo.. what’s your name?”
“Ah, yes, it’s Cenvil, and yours?” It said, fingers nervously digging into its thighs. He obviously wasn’t the only socially awkward one.
“it’s Kenvis. Thanks for saving me from that wolf a few days ago, if you need a favor or anything I’d be happy to help”
They then spoke for a few hours before Cenvil left at dark. quite tired Kenvis went to bed himself, the toll of an eventful day quickly causing him to sleep.
