The Twin Crown-bearers' Tiny Downtime Recreations

Chapter 3: Wrongful Tantrum (Preview)

Summary:

Euphillia encounted something... she wasn't supposed to.

Notes:

I think I foreshadowed Akane hard enough, anyway. Not that Yori and Aki's "cameos" are random, too.

Everything has a reason to exist.

Chapter Text

It’s me, again. Euphyllia Magenta.

I’m currently... K-Koff...

“...I’m not your personal infodumper, you know? And I’m also certainly not your personal sandbag.”

I was beaten black and blue by a Vampire.

For my world, Vampires are considered to be a nuisance. A monster, if you will...

Now, let us rewind time a bit...

“...What do we do? She doesn’t seem to be from Terra...”

This place is... very unfamiliar.

I’ve only known that the world that I am in has magic tools, thanks to Princess Anis’ efforts, but...

This seems rather overwhelmingly large, by comparison. Street lamps, headsets and the like are being used... Even a moving steel box...

As I sat there, confused, another woman approached the two of them, this one faring blue eyes with blue hair, much like my own.

However, her ears seem to be a bit more... fur-coated, shall we say.

“Hi, Yoririn. Hi, Mizu.”
“...Shooting another MV, Akanen?”
“...Nah, it’s just a shitload of nearly overdue school work that I had to submit.”
“Well, it’s eight past noon. Got anything yet?” The woman called Mizu offered her a sandwich. “Mii-chan made it for me, but I haven’t gotten the chance to eat it.”
“Real talk, I finished it at five. I just got here because I’d have to stay overnight at our guest house, courtesy of My Oshi. Got anythin’ nice in Okayama?”

Oshi... What a weird yet beautiful word.

“Nah... Oh, wait, Akane... Could you help us out here? Got a lost person. Maybe Ai-san opened up a portal to another world again.”

My ears immediately picked up the faintest name of the person mentioned.

“Ai-san”, is it?

“...C-Can I... meet her?” I raised the smallest of my voice, but enough for it to be heard.

I’m tired... So... So tired...

I just want today to be over soon, I just want this to be a nightmare that I’ll wake up from...

But, the night is endless, and so is my despair.

“Ok, lady, first of all, may I, this humble commoner Akane Kurokawa, have the permission to acquire your glorious name?”

Akane Kurokawa... She’s similar to me, although I can’t put any reasons in as to why that’s the case.

Anyway, she took me to the guest house that she mentioned earlier, and it... totally blew my house out of the water.

“Euphillia Magenta... Although, sooner or later, it’ll be just Euphyllia anyway... I can’t use the name Magenta again, after what I’ve done.”
“Woahwoahwait, are you an exile?”
“...Might be. I don’t even know what I am at this point.”

Am I Algard’s fiancée? Am I Palletia’s soon-to-be Queen? Does any one bit of this matter? I don’t know anymore. I’m lost, and I don’t know what I should do.

“Damn, that’s tough, lady. A heartbreak?”

In that instant, it feels as if someone sank their fangs into the nape of my neck and began mercilessly licking out all the blood surrounding it. She’s sharp, too sharp.

“...Something like that.”
“Just so we’re on the same page here, in this country, Japan... There’s not a single noble left that could utilize power and have their own militia.”
“A-Ah.”
“I would’ve taken you for a mid-14th Century noble lady, maybe that’s true...”

Something in her voice seems to bring me comfort. It’s as if another me was soothing my pain with words that I oh-so-desperately wished to hear.

“...It was a nightmare. He began pointing and shouting at me, claiming that I’ve laid my filthy hands on another girl, Lainie Cyan.”
“...”
“Then, I was hopeless. Accusations flooded in, all of them untrue. Nary a soul listened to my plea. Even Lainie herself seemed as if she was on my side, but that’s also to no avail.”
“...Hm, where’s something to drink...?”

“...So you’re telling me that you crashed the ball just so that you could see through the truth all by your hands?”
“Yes, Father.”
“Then, by all means... Seize this truth for me. That blasted fool, Algard... I’ll call Gantz over. Let the young lady recuperate.”
“...Sure, I can work with that.”
“...Finally, you relaxed, Anis. I was worried you’d have a headsplitting headache and die in front of me.”

...It’s called a stroke, pops.

“Still, this is rather troubling...”
“What is, my child?”
“...Euphie’s missing.”

“...And then, I touched that weird sphere on her table... Wait, that smell...”
“Hm?”
“...Nothing,” I said as I took out my secret hairpin, embedded within the left side of my hair.

I began slowly crawling towards the woman, as the beverage that she was drinking...

Scarlet red. Metallic. Not for the faint of heart...

In that wine glass, it illuminates with dread.

...Blood-sucking fiend, to trick me into– Huh?

“Look, you gotta try harder than that to sneak up on someone,” said Akane as she grabbed my hairpin and kicked it aside. “...What’s wrong? Trying to rob me, now? With those words and weapons... I take it that you’re not any ordinary robber, right? Now then... Who are you?”
“...What’s it to you anyway, you bloodfiend?!”
“Oh... Perhaps... Your world’s Vampire is the slaughter kind?”
