Chapter Text
Yoongi, a sophomore college student, studying Composition and Music & Technology, had managed himself into an academy of performing arts and music, a ten minute train ride from his place. He earned his own money by doing part time jobs on his days off class lived off mostly eating Seokjin’s meals.
He hadn’t tried to strengthen his relationship with his father after graduating. Honestly, Yoongi didn’t think he’d make it and neither did his father, one full of doubt after knowing of Yoongi’s reputation and behaviour outside of home. Jimin on the other hand was as positive as a ray of sunshine after a typhoon, now a third year and senior high school student, currently pushing himself to join the same school as Yoongi in a different course, Dance Performance.
He had but one month and a little to practice for his audition and began visiting a dance studio regularly to rent a room along with Jungkook, a first year of his local high school to Taehyung’s dismay.
_________
Jimin took his time to warm up and stretch before Jungkook arrived to practice with him, footsteps entering the room going unnoticed.
“I heard you were Yoongi’s soulmate.”
Jimin flinched and turned to look behind him. Definitely not high school students.
“Who might you be?” he said, ignoring the first words and eyeing the people before him.
“Just friends of his. But he still owes me a broken leg.” the stranger said, Jimin couldn’t help but feel disturbed. “Two broken legs in fact.”
‘Ah, crap, he’s the stubborn kind of sore loser. I understand what Yoongi said now.’ Jimin remembered, just before Yoongi had taken his mother’s advice and stopped accepting challenges he had said something about ‘coming back again and again’.
“This doesn’t have anything to do with me.”
“Of course it does, we’ve been all over the place for him but instead you showed up and you’re related to him in some sort of way.”
“First of all I don’t understand your logic,” Jimin begins blankly and sees Jungkook watching wide eyed behind the door. “The second thing is, if you keep up this clichéd scene, I suggest you stop watching those movies you watch.”
Jimin’s words seemed to have triggered the man and immediately got up from his stretching position to run, only to be pushed back down. He found himself pinned to the wooden floor by several other people that followed behind the stranger that spoke, whom now held one of the studio’s fire extinguishers.
‘If I could cringe I would, but if I get hit by that in the head I’ll probably die.’
“I’m guessing the more you hang around that ass, it sharpens your tongue.” he comments, and Jimin shudders from the unsettling vibe the man gave out as he spoke.
“I said two legs, right?”
_________
Jungkook sucked in a breathe as he pulled his eyes away from the scene, hearing Jimin scream and ran past the many other practice rooms, down the staircase and out the studio, telling the lady at the counter there was trouble in room number 4 before he left.
“Ambulance, ambulance.” he muttered to himself, breathing heavily, and dialed the emergency number, stating the patient’s whereabouts and briefing the situation.
He hung up and quickly scrolled through his contacts to stop at Taehyung’s name
“Tae?”
The latter heard the sniffle over the phone worry overcame him. ‘Jungkook, are you crying?’
“No, I was gonna walk into the room and he screamed and I ran.”
‘What’s wrong?.’ a voice asked, that Jungkook assumed was Seokjin, possibly had him on speaker. ‘Did something happen?’
“A guy and his friends were ganging up on Jimin who was pinned to the ground and the guy was holding a fire extinguisher.” he said monotonically after pausing to think about his phrasing.
‘I’ll call Yoongi and see you later.’
‘And I’m coming over.’ Taehyung said.
He hung up once again and refused to tear up, holding a straight face and telling himself he was a grown up and already sixteen, and turned around to see the lady from counter walk out the strangers from earlier with a face full of anger.
“Have you called the ambulance?”
Jungkook nodded and walked back upstairs as he was told she’d look out for the ambulance.
_________
When Jimin came to, he found himself perfectly fine. He reluctantly recalls he’d, somehow shamefully , cried and passed out after the stranger did several full swings with the fire extinguisher on his leg whilst he was held down.
He was surrounded by the white of the room, lined beds and the blinding sunlight that invaded through the window, and turned his head to the right to see Yoongi stare at him from his laid back position, arms folded with both legs casted and left leg elevated.
“They broke both your femurs and your left tibia and fibula.”
Jimin stared back at him with a pout and a frown.
“Should I dumb it down a little for you?”
“Thigh, shin and ankle bones, I listened in science and health class.”
“Glad.”
“So where are my broken bones?”
“Well, I had the liberty to take them away and keep them.”
Jimin flings the sheets off of himself and sits to face Yoongi, getting up and walking calmly. Yoongi watches Jimin take his hand and laces their fingers together, heat spreading across their skin as the wrist tattoos fade completely.
“I can’t take it back.”
“You can’t take it back.” Yoongi says casually and looks almost smug.
“You proved that when we first met.” Jimin replies with a frown.
“Why would you want them back anyway, you’ve an audition next month, you need your legs.”
“And I can always do it again next year.”
“I’m not gonna spend only one year with you at school again.”
“You sound like Taehyung.” he says pulling a face.
“We share the same body, let me shoulder your pain.” Yoongi quotes playfully.
“It’s only valid when I say it.”
“You’re still as selfish as ever.” Yoongi teases and doesn’t miss the smile on Jimin’s face before turning away and feigning annoyance.
Jimin remembers Jungkook earlier and begins to panic. “What happened to Jungkook?”
“He went home when Taehyung and Jin-hyung came to pick him up two hours ago.”
“Did he see?”
“The ‘ganging up’ and ‘fire extinguisher event’, you mean?”
“Well, did he?”
“He heard you screaming and wound up running off to call the ambulance.”
“I don’t know if I should be embarrassed or worried.”
“Do want me to get them back after I’m fixed, babe?” Yoongi cooed with an innocent face. “It’s fine if you don’t want to.”
Jimin blushes hard at the pet name, having still not gotten used the them flying out of Yoongi’s mouth so casually. “As much as I want to plant my foot into his face, who ever he is, you told me you weren’t going to ‘accept invitations to beat people up’.”
“I did, but you never said I couldn’t start a fight.”
Jimin rolls his eyes and leans down forward for a kiss in which Yoongi smiles into.
“I’m gonna be here a while, broken legs and all. Should I be expecting your visits?”
“Count on it.”
_________
“Jiminie, you should’ve seen Yoongi-hyung when he saw your legs broken and yourself unconscious.” Taehyung said with a boxy grin.
“Why?”
“He’s so selfless when it comes to you.” Jungkook says, looking up from his phone. “Considering he has yet to say anything with the word ‘love’ in a sentence.”
“He was all angry and worried, I couldn’t tell by his face. He straight up said, ‘I’m going too’ and then sat on ground next to you to transfer your broken bones.”
“And he ran all the way to the studio from his job, he ran .” Jungkook adds.
Taehyung sighs and shakes his head. “If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.”
Jungkook eyes Taehyung and mutters ‘what about us?’ before turning his gaze to Jimin.
Jimin knows it was probably impossible to hide his flustered state and feels all eyes over him, looking up from his lap to find the pair leaning in close and smiling widely at him with bright eyes.
“Shut up.”
_________
And finally, requite.
