Chapter 3: Stranger

Notes:

I don’t know if anyone is actually reading this but if you are I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a long time. I’ve been going through some mental health issues and so much other drama. But I’m back now and plan to complete this story as soon as I can

Chapter Text

Annie stared into the eyes that were locked onto hers. beautiful. It was the only word she could think of. She couldn’t stop herself from looking at the rest of them. Her gaze trailed across the tan figure in front, twice from top to bottom. Her eyes stopping a few times at The hair, it was the most curious colour (if she could even call it that). It was almost clear, capturing the colours of everything around it in a cloudy white sheen. It was cut unevenly above the shoulders, one side being longer than the other. Their eyes were even more curious. One eye was the most golden amber she had ever seen, the other one was a bright emerald colour, and both equally mesmerising. As she stared into those eyes awestruck, catching a glimpse of the sunset she saw the night before, almost like the colours were taken straight from it. . They wore simple clothes; a green crop top (with a few minor rips and cuts) and brown pants (covered in so much dirt she didn’t know if brown was the original colour). They looked perfect in a broken kind of way, and to Annie, that’s the best way.
Whoever they were, they were breathtaking.

Realising just how long she’d been staring and how rude she was being Annie tried talking first but “I’m sorry” was all she could think of. She didn’t know what to do in this situation. Her training hadn’t included what to do when alone on a highway with a beautiful stranger who just helped you out of a breakdown. No, her training included cooking and how to talk properly and politely.
The stranger tilted their head in a puzzled look before standing up. Offering their hand to Annie they gave her a small and empathetic smile. Annie knew she shouldn’t trust them, they just appeared out of nowhere. but she did trust them. Something about this stranger just made her feel calm, almost safe. Annie took the strangers hand and stood up. She didn’t quite know what to do and so as the silence got awkward. Annie was never good with awkward silences, so When it got too much to bear she said the first thing that came to mind.
“What’s your name?” Annie tried asking the stranger. Instead of answering, the stranger just looked down at the ground and looked even more uncomfortable than she felt. That’s weird. Annie wasn’t sure what was wrong. “How did you find me?” Annie kept asking questions but the stranger never responded, they just looked at the floor. Annie gave up. If they didn’t want to answer her questions that was fine but she should at least thank them. So she did just that. Annie thanked the stranger and then began to turn away, she needed to get to the next town before sunset. however, as she started walking in the direction of woodhill she felt the strangers hand on her shoulder, drawing her attention back to them. Annie turned back around and watched as the stranger lifted their hand off her shoulder and to their neck. They rested their hand right over their voice box, Annie felt a twinge of guilt as she understood. She didn’t get much time for a reaction as the stranger gently grabbed her by the wrist and led her away from the road. Who was this person. And what was happening. Annie didn’t know the answer to either of those but she still let them drag her away. She just couldn’t shake the feeling that she was meant to have found this person, that they were good and could help. Annie wanted to know who they were and what they were doing here, but how could she find out if they couldn’t talk.
