Chapter Text
Alex was content, yet intrigued. He was finally having the rest he was looking for, taking care of the tray of sweets, but his peace wasn't complete. Robin was sitting on a chair beside the solitude room, arms crossed and one leg bouncing impatiently, ten minutes had already passed since the show was supposed to start. Chewing his candy, Alex decided to go and help, it was the best since he was the only one who had an idea of what was happening in that room.
Getting closer to it he started to feel uncomfortable, his recent discoveries opened streams of possibilities in his mind of what could be happening there. He begged internally he wouldn't interrupt anything. Arriving at the door he leaned his ear against it first, just in case... He heard a thud that kept repeating, like an irregular beat.
'Atticus!'
Alex's eyes popped out of his head.
'If you keep rushing, it will keep falling down!'
'Well, maybe if you helped me a little bit we could finish faster, wouldn't we?'
Damn, he did not need to know that.
'Tsk. Come on, rush, we're almost done.'
The thuds became faster and faster, the younger man got away from the door as if burned, having heard too much. In response Robin got up his chair.
'Okay, enough, the fuck are they doing in there?'
He stomped all the way to the door and Alex hurried to grab his arm before he could get in.
'Robin, I don't think that's a good idea-'
The guitarist just looked at him. He turned, raised up his knee and did a flying kick against the door. Alex faced away, not wanting to get hurt and much less seeing his two mentors in a compromising situation. The door indeed opened, and Robin got in.
'Dude, again?! Stop counting those and get the hell out of here!'
At the strange phrase, Alex took the risk of looking in.
In the dim room, Atticus was on top of Trent.
Wait no, not on top of him, my bad. In front of him, sitting with his legs crossed, and far more busy. He was rapidly laying lemons on the floor, a constant thud beating as they were being laid, and he was muttering, counting each one of them. Trent was on his knees supervising, a basket of lemons on his side.
'Don't you think we have enough of those?!' Robin complained.
Trent retaliated 'Someone has to make sure there are enough, asshole.'
'Can't that wait after the show?!'
'We need them after the show.'
The DJ was simply astonished at such stupidity. Suddenly, as if invoked, behind them the young man with the tray appeared again. He got into the room and from the shiny and polished food dome on his table he revealed another bunch of lemons, so many of them that some fell into the floor.
The duo in the room sighed, relieved.
'That solves it, let's go.'
Trent got up, picking in the process his partner's hand and carrying him up with him, and finally they got out of there.
Alex was left alone in the dim room, surrounded by the mostly neatly organized lemons in grids. He still had questions, but maybe he should start to get used to the strangeness of these people if it kept going like this.
