Chapter Text
When the club closed, they all decided to eat pizza before going home.
Nicky: "When Christmas is over, I would like to invite you all for dinner one day."
Everyone said yes to the invitation, and after a lot of hugging, they all parted for now.
Joe: "Can I walk you home?"
Nicky took Joe's hand with a smile.
Nicky: "I would love to."
The shortest way to Nicky's flat was through the main street, but Joe steered them towards the park.
Joe: "I haven't seen the Christmas decoration in the park yet. Is it okay with you that we go there first?"
Nicky: "Fine with me, because I haven't seen it at night."
It didn't take long before they stood in the park, where a local art group had covered all the trees and bushes with light chains.
Nicky: "This is so beautiful, Joe. Could I ask you to take a photo of me?"
Nicky handed Joe his phone before standing next to a bush where the light chains formed a heart.
Joe: "Here."
Joe handed Nicky his phone back, and he looked at the photo.
Nicky: "Grazie. The photo is for my Mama. Do you think she will like it?"
Joe: "I know she will."
Nicky smiled and put the phone back in his pocket. Then, Nicky took Joe's hand.
Nicky: "Joe, what's on your mind?"
Joe took a deep breath before he showed Nicky the mistletoe he had in his pocket.
Joe: "I want to kiss you under the mistletoe."
Nicky: "I do love that idea, very much."
Joe: "And I want to tell you something important."
Joe stepped closer to Nicky and took his hand.
Joe: "Nicky, I want to tell you..."
Joe hadn't noticed what he was doing with his body.
Joe: "That I want to marry you."
Joe froze on the spot, realising two things. One: he was kneeling, and two: he had just said the wrong thing out loud. When Joe looked at Nicky, he was smiling.
