Merry Christmas, I miss you

Chapter 2: Epilogue

Summary:

“Welcome to Georgia.”

Chapter Text

The plane lands, and OA is eager to get off. He finds he now feels a little anxious when he gets on a plane, as it brings back bad memories. But this flight… he knows it's worth it. Once he collects his luggage, he feels immense joy in his chest. Checking his phone, He has a message from Maggie.

“Good luck :)”

He smiles. When he told her that he had finally called Tiffany, she was so happy. She had boasted she was right, and he didn't contradict her. In fact, he bought her coffee all week in gratitude.

“Thanks, Mags:)”

He always wondered if he could have that moment from the movies, where he would see the woman he loves waiting for him, and time would stand still. For a while, he had doubted it would come, and he is so grateful to be able to be proven wrong,   because when he finally sees Tiffany, that is exactly how he feels.

She is there smiling at him, wearing a brown sweater, and she looks so... refreshed. She seems happier. The sight of it makes him feel the same.

He holds his luggage tightly as he hurries to reach her, unable to stop smiling and feeling like a teenager in the middle of a love confession.

When he finally reaches her, he feels his breath catch.

“Welcome to Georgia,” she says, smiling.

“I'm happy to be here,” he replies as he takes her hand. “With you.”

Finally hearing her voice in person gave him a thousand years of life. Since he “confessed” his feelings over the phone, they had been in contact every day, and when OA finally had a week off, he didn't wait to buy plane tickets and visit her. He wanted to see her in person, tell her face-to-face everything he felt, and spend time with her, getting to know every new facet of her personality.

So he wastes no time and hugs her tightly, telling her how much he missed her and listening to her laughter.

“I missed you, too,” she replies.

When they finally separate, he looks her straight in the face.

“What I told you on the phone...”

She interrupts him. “I know, I want the same thing you do.”

“I just want to tell you in person.”

“At the airport?” she asks, smiling.

“Airports and hospitals hear honest confessions,” he says, smiling.

“Tiffany, you're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I want to hear everything you have to say to me. I want to hold your hand and grow old together. I want to try with you. I want to make it work.”

She smiles as she brings her hands to his cheeks.

“And I've already told you that I want the same thing with you,” she whispers as she slowly approaches his face.

“Then we shouldn't waste any more time,” he replies as he closes the distance between them and kisses her.

It feels like coming home, with her in his arms and the promise of a future together. He was home and could finally rest.

Notes:

So, I had this in my Google Docs for about two weeks and wasn't planning on posting it because, one, it's romance (and I have no experience writing romance, lol), and two, I wasn't entirely convinced about it. BUT I have to thank Leah for reading it and making some great suggestions that made me feel more confident about posting it. <3
