An improved New Dayshift at Freddy’s (reposted)

Chapter 8: Set Ablaze

Summary:

The day for the party arrives, and the three are tense, ready to free the last two souls, before Freddy’s is closed. However, it doesn’t come easy as Dee has a few tricks up her sleeves, and the three have to fend her off, as well as Farfour. However, they end up setting Freddy’s on fire in the process.

Chapter Text

The next day, the nurses let Pumpkin go, after her leg was looked at and Henry and her went downstairs and he bought a wheelchair and the two left, with Dave waiting for them both.

“Are you ready Pumpkin? Today we might just finally correct this and rescue the last soul, plus one extra.” Dave said.

“What happens after and…and what if we don’t…” Pumpkin said, feeling very uneasy about this all of a sudden.

“We’ll worry about that after. Come on. Scott will be angry if we’re not on time, and this is the final birthday before they close the place. Probably for good, If we cannot solve this case.” Dave said.

“Okay. Let’s…let’s do this.” Pumpkin said.

“Hey, I’m nervous too, but let’s focus on saving those souls, then we won’t have to worry too much about this place anymore.” Dave said.

   Pumpkin grinned.

“Pumpkin, something is wrong.” Henry said.

“Ah…I’ll tell you later, Shadow.” Pumpkin said.

Henry nodded, and he wheeled her outside to Dave’s car. He helped her get in the front seat, while he slipped in the back.

Dave put the wheelchair in the trunk and got in the driver’s seat and took off.

The three made it to Freddy’s, Pumpkin back in her wheelchair.

As soon as they went inside, the atmosphere felt…off. It felt almost the same as it did when Henry first arrived, with no one having fun, and the animatronics always trying to kill William. Aside from the fact that most of the animatronics (except for an angry Bonnie, who was staring directly at all three of them) no longer had that murderous look to their eyes anytime William walked in. Even Foxy was out and doing a sea shanty for the kids, but there was still something wrong. Scott was there, but he was standing nervously in the corner, and there were a lot more adults than usual, and they were just standing around.

   “This is creepy.” Said Pumpkin.

“Let’s just get to our shift and find Bonnie’s face.” Dave said.

   “Umm, about that, Dave…”

   “DAVE! EMPLOYEE!”

“He…does know my name, right?” Asked Pumpkin.

“He does. He just refuses to say it.” Henry answered.

   “What a prick.” Pumpkin said.

“I’m still going to wash your mouth out with soap.”

Pumpkin paled, when she remembered the company she was in.

“Stop standing there and get ready! The birthday party is going to start soon! Go, go, go!” Scott said.

“Right, let’s go Pumpkin.” Dave said. He and Pumpkin were about to go, when suddenly, the wall came down.

“Oh god! Is that…?” Dave asked.

“Yes! It is!” Said Henry, not caring if Dave couldn’t hear him.

The mouse animatronic stood there, and looked around.

“I am Farfour! I will kill William Afton and make him pay for his wrong doings!” It shouted.

“How was Dee able to manipulate the soul’s memories?” Asked Pumpkin.

“By tampering with the robot.” Henry answered solemnly.

Everyone ran screaming, and went to run outside, but Scott blocked them and padlocked the door.

“Are you fucking out of your mind?!” Henry shouted. He went to break the window, but he phased through. Right.

“No one leaves! Just ignore the robot! I’m pretty sure it’s fine, it will…”

Farfour ran straight for Dave and he managed to roll out of the way and tried running for the Saferoom, but two adults blocked him.

“Are you stupid?! Let me through!” Dave tried to force his way past them, but he was suddenly put in handcuffs.

“Dave Miller, for your crimes against Freddy’s, we are putting you under arrest!” Shouted a man.

“Under…wait, no! You’ve got the wrong guy! He didn’t do it, it was…” Pumpkin shouted, standing up from her chair. Henry helped her and together they went to hurry over, but Farfour jumped and smacked them both out of the way.

“Ow, that’s going to hurt for a while.” Henry groaned.

“Doesn’t feel too good, does it?” Asked Pumpkin.

Farfour went to smash Pumpkin under its foot, but Henry thought fast and grabbed the thing with his tendrils and held it at bay. He took out Bonnie’s face.

This is it. Time to fix all of this!

Henry! I order you to stop this insolence at once, or I’ll kill…

“Kid! The rabbit! Hurry and give this to him!” Henry tossed it and Pumpkin caught it and looked at it in surprise.

   “When did you…”

“A while ago, now move! Go!”

Pumpkin nodded and she ran, with Henry following, tripping the robot to buy them some time.

“ENOUGH OF THIS!” Shouted a voice. The music box opened and out jumped Dee, blocking Pumpkin’s and Henry’s path to the stage.

“You almost won, Henry, but I will not allow you to undo what you did! You will suffer as you have made me suffer a long time ago!” Dee yelled, filling the whole room.

Kids screamed and ducked under the tables. Scott ran off to hide in the office.

Dave got loose when the undercover cops were distracted and punched one of them in the face. He went to run to them, but Farfour engaged him in a battle and William tried to hold him off.

“Dee! I’m sorry! What I did was wrong and I know you will never forgive me!” Henry cried out, tears starting to spill from his eyes.

“The wrongs I did, the atrocities I committed, the lies I’ve told to keep it all a secret! I know there’s no fixing this! I just wanted to keep my niece safe! Instead, I created abominations! I stole children’s lives! I thought I was keeping Pumpkin safe, but I only hurt her! And I turned you into a monster! I’m sorry Dee! I…I really am! But you can’t hurt more people! Otherwise the cycle will only continue! Lives will be stolen, families will be torn apart! You need to stop, before it’s too late!”

Dee glared at Henry. She looked around, silent for a while. Pumpkin thought she saw a hint of remorse, but then she screamed. It was an otherworldly shriek that could raise the dead.

“Enough! I will not allow you to stop me! Not after so long of trying to make you and that wretched purple eggplant pay for what you did!” Dee shouted.

“I mean, that’s a little harsh, don’t you think?” Asked Dave, still fighting Farfour.

“I will finally put an end to your “legacy” Henry and I’ll start with this one! And I don’t care if she can come back to life, I will kill her over and over, and make you watch, and when she’s finally had enough, I’ll kill you too!”

Dee went to slash at Pumpkin, but Pumpkin’s hand lit up and she swatted at Dee with fire. Dee cried out, since she was made of felt and wires, so the damage would be more severe.

“You can try to kill me again Dee, but I’ll put up a fight! I’ll keep anyone and everyone safe from you! I will not allow you to continue your killing spree! It ends here, right now!”

Pumpkin roared and shot a fire ball at Dee. Dee saw it and dodged.

   “Uncle! The face!”

Pumpkin tossed Bonnie’s face, and Henry grabbed it just in time, before it flew past him. He stood frozen.

It was dark. It was raining. He thought he could do it, even after convincing himself that it was the right thing. The voice who had helped him so far had claimed so. It promised he was causing no harm, but now he was unsure. He couldn’t put Pumpkin through it. It always looked so horribly painful whenever he and William put those kids in those suits. He told himself that they would be okay, that they would be happy, now that they could live forever. But it still was awful. To hear those screams, to hear the metal piercing flesh. Maybe William was right. He had made a mistake. He went into the back of the restaurant, to see his niece and to tell her that he was going to keep her safe and they would watch a movie together.

But when he entered the door to the house, and went into Pumpkin’s room, she was gone. He panicked and ran around the house, looking for her. He heard a scream out in the diner and he ran outside and saw the puppet dragging his niece, straight towards the stage.

“Uncle, snap out of it!” Pumpkin shouted, having noticed him standing there, frozen to the spot.

Henry shook his head. He looked at Bonnie and ran towards him and was about to put the face on the rabbit, when a ball of energy shot forward and Henry was knocked back, which sent Pumpkin flying towards him and she cried out in pain, due to her still broken leg. He grabbed her and held her, just as Dee floated high above them.

“How poetic. The one who killed me, and the one I killed, here together again, just to die once more. This will be satisfactory, especially to see your bleeding corpse again, Henry! Only this time, it WILL BE BY ME!”

Henry shoved Pumpkin out of the way, and charged at Dee, and just before she could shoot her ball of energy, Henry stuck his hands through her and she spasmed, oil flying out from her eyes and mouth and underneath the porcelain mask. She collapsed in a heap, smoke leaking out of her.

“Go! Go to the locked office room! I’ll unlock the door!” Henry shouted.

“What are you going to do?” Asked Pumpkin.

“Something I should have, a long time ago.”

While William was still fending off Farfour, Henry and Pumpkin ran to the office hallway. They saw the door to the office closed, and knew Scott was hiding within, so at least he wouldn’t be in their way for the time being.

Henry quickly slipped his hand through the locked storage door and entered. He faced his old creation and could feel beads of sweat pouring through.

“Pumpkin, listen to me. If…if this is it, and this time, I really don’t come back, I just want you to know, what I did was wrong, and I know that Dee will never forgive me, but I love you. Even when I wanted to stop you, and thought this was a lost cause, I’ve always loved you. The guilt that haunted me for five years has never left, not even after I saw you. But now I’m going to try and put an end to this, and…I want you to continue on. Even if it’s without me and continue to every Freddy’s and do what neither of us could do alone. Free them. Free the souls and give them their happiest day. Fulfill your promise to Fredbear, and make sure this never happens again.”

   “Uncle, no! Don’t…”

Henry shoved Pumpkin out of the door. And this time, he looked at the chain and he used his void powers to break it and, to his surprise, it broke. However, he knew he wouldn’t be free for long, so he had to be quick.

Pumpkin felt a weird jerk as her ankle felt loose again, so she ran off, to try and distract Dee.

   “Hey noodle bitch! Over here!”

Dee had woken up and had floated off the ground, pissed that Henry had managed to corrupt her circuits again. She turned to the voice, and saw Pumpkin standing there, with no Henry in sight. She was absolutely livid now.

“So, decided to save your fucking evil uncle and protect him, over me?! Just like last time?!”

“I’m going to make you wish you’d stayed dead and that you shouldn’t have killed me!” Pumpkin said. She shot a fireball towards Dee and she flew to the side, and it hit the curtains and they lit aflame.

“If you kill me, I’ll just come back and find a new animatronic to possess! I will not stop, until I see all of you burning in Hell, where you belong!”

“You’re about to have an awful time Dee. Consider this the end of our friendship!” Pumpkin shouted and she shot two more fireballs. Dee dodged one, which was sent flying towards Freddy and he burst into flames. Foxy tried to put it out with water, but that only made it worse, when the bear began to electrocute and combusted into a pile of arms and legs and a torso.

Dee went to grab at Pumpkin’s neck, but Pumpkin dove behind the prize counter and brought out a baseball bat and whacked Dee in the face with it. A line went through her porcelain mask, cracking it partially at the top, down towards her right eye.

“Oh, you’re going to wish you hadn’t done that.”

Dee went to swipe at Pumpkin with long claws and she jumped away. She summoned a flame and tossed it into the air and swatted it with the bat and it hit Dee in the face and she howled and backed away, snarling.

Dee rose higher and stretched her long arms, but Pumpkin ducked and grabbed a sword. She ran the other way and Dee flew towards her. She went to grab Pumpkin again, but Pumpkin chopped off her hands with the sword, exposing her soft cotton and wires.

   “You are so dead!”

Dee grabbed a flamethrower and tried to blast Pumpkin with it, but Pumpkin blocked it with her own flames, which set the prize corner ablaze.

Dave saw what was going on and noticed the pizzeria aflame.

“Shit! Everyone, get out of the building! Now!” He shouted. He grabbed Freddy’s destroyed Torso and broke a window and helped everyone climb out.

   “Pumpkin! We’ve gotta go!”

Pumpkin turned to Dave and went to run, but Dee threw a ball at Pumpkin’s feet and tripped the poor girl, which didn’t help the pain.

“Kid!” Dave ran towards Pumpkin, but Farfour grabbed him in both arms and held Dave in place, and began to squeeze him tightly.

“Pumpkin!” He gasped, but he couldn’t shout very far.

“Let me be the first to say, “Welcome to Freddy’s! This will be your permanent home!” Said Dee.

Pumpkin tried to blast fire at her, but Dee grabbed her and tied her arms with one arm and the other grabbed her neck.

“Say hello to dear old Fredbear, won’t you? Tell him you failed, but it was inevitable. Those who try to stop destiny, will see what happens when they stand in my way!”

Before Dee could drag Pumpkin into the storage room, Henry burst out in the Fredbear costume, the costume leaking oil and spring locks piercing into Henry. Being a ghost, he thought it wouldn’t hurt as much, but boy was he wrong. It still hurt like hell.

“Dee!” He wheezed. “Stand down at once, or…what the hell?!”

Henry noticed through tears and blood that half of the complex was on fire.

“Huh. So it’s going down anyways…” He shook his head and glared at Dee.

“No, for your crimes against Freddy’s and for your horrible actions, I am going to put an end to you and keep others safe from you!” Henry declared.

“I’d like to see you try you fat fuck!”

Dee went to strangle Henry, but he punched her away. Dee snarled and grabbed an axe and went to swing at Fredbear, but Pumpkin blasted her away.

“Thanks Pumpkin, but this is between me and Dee. Go help William! Now!” Henry said. Pumpkin wanted to protest, but when she saw the sincerity in Henry’s eyes, she knew he was serious. She nodded.

You can’t keep this up. She’s going to kill you and then what will you do when you can’t fulfill your legacy?

Henry growled and then shouted defiantly, gripping Dee by her own neck.

“I! DON’T! WANT! THIS STUPID LEGACY! IT WAS NEVER MINE TO BEGIN WITH”

He shouted, even through the sharp metal in his neck.

He threw Dee off of him and she went flying into a table. She snarled, slowly lifting herself off the ground.

“Bullshit! I don’t know what suddenly brought this up, but if you didn’t want this, then why go and do it?! Why go and kill a bunch of kids and me?!” Shouted Dee.

“I thought I was doing the right thing! I told you! I only wanted to keep my niece safe! To protect her! If I had known the damage it was really causing, I wouldn’t have gone through with it!” Shouted Henry.

“That’s a lie and you know it!” Dee went to charge at him again, and blew the flamethrower at him. He danced out of the way, and the flames hit the tables behind him.

However, he forgot about the fact that his suit was leaking oil, and it was getting everywhere on the floor, which sent more flames across the restaurant.

“I don’t lie! Not anymore! Not since that night! I’ve tried to take back what I’ve done, but you’ve made it harder every step of the way! You claim you want Justice for what William and I have done, but all you’ve done is murder far more kids than we have! Which only caused more harm! Pumpkin is right! You’re not the same Dee! Even though it is my fault, you shouldn’t have done what you did after that! You could have helped me, or at least kept my niece safe! But all you wanted was revenge! Not justice! Not to protect the kids! You only care about yourself! And I lost hope because of you! Because I could never stop what you did on my own! Thanks to Pumpkin, I now have something to stand for again! I will be the one to keep her safe, the right way, and I will punish you for what you did that night!”

Henry charged at Dee and instead of punching her, he used his tendrils to grab at her and he opened the void.

“I’m going to deal with you in the void and make sure you won’t hurt anyone again!” Henry said, and he was about to jump in the hole, when fire blasted his suit and he screamed in pain. Foxy this time thought better of his actions, and headed straight for the fire extinguisher. Even Chica ran over and punched Dee, now realizing who was the one that had killed the child that inhabited her.

The puppet was thrown into Henry and they both fell over. Henry quickly got up and grabbed the flamethrower and broke it in half and tossed it into the void, just as the portal closed.

Dee tried to strangle Henry, but he grabbed her arms and tossed her into another table, breaking it as well.

“You…will not…win Henry. I will end you! I will make you pay for what you did to me, and you will suffer as I have!” She wheezed as she slowly floated up.

“I’ve already suffered for too long because of you! I will not allow myself to suffer any longer! Once I’m through with you, you can say goodbye to your legacy, Dee!” Henry said and ran at her and Dee managed to dodge.

While Henry and Dee were fighting, Pumpkin shot a blast of fire at Farfour.

“Farfour…child! The one who is possessing the rat…thing! Listen! Dave didn’t kill you! Tell us how to free you, so you can leave and join the others in the Happiest Day game!” Pumpkin said.

   Farfour looked at Pumpkin.

“I want…this wretched thing to be destroyed. It is god awful, and smells.” Farfour said. “I…would also like to see my old friends. The ones who disappeared within these walls.”

Pumpkin nodded and blasted the rat with fireball after fireball. Farfour didn’t try to fight back this time. It just took the attacks, and Dave came in and smashed it with a hammer. The soul that came out was a girl and she bowed and disappeared into the Happiest Day arcade cabinet.

   “Pumpkin! Come on!”

   “But…but Shadow is…”

“I’m sure Shadow can handle himself! We’ve gotta go! He’ll join us I’m sure!” Said Dave.

Dave and Pumpkin ran off. Henry grabbed Dee and threw her into the prize corner, shattering the glass. Henry looked around at the burning building. He knew he only had a few moments. He hurried over to Bonnie.

Dee got up in time to see Henry give Bonnie his face.

“I’m…so sorry. I found this a couple days ago and should have given it back. I was afraid to, after all I had done and thought I didn’t deserve to correct my wrongs. Here.” Henry said. Bonnie looked like he was about to cry and gladly accepted the face from the shadowy figure.

“I…thank you. I’m glad to have my glorious mug back. Better late than never.” Bonnie then put his face back on and the soul was released. He smiled at Henry and Henry smiled back. He watched as the last soul flew to Happiest Day.

Just then, Dee screamed. She grabbed a water gun and loaded it with the sink, and shot straight towards Henry.

“Oh, shi…” Henry tried to run, to get to the Saferoom, but he slipped in oil and Dee shot water at him and oil and sparks flew everywhere, electrocuting the man inside and releasing the spring locks and he was pierced once again. Chica, Bonnie, Freddy and Foxy, even Golden Freddy tried to help, but their animatronic hands were too big.

“Stop it! Don’t help that bastard! He killed me! He killed lots of kids! He’s a monster!” Dee snarled.

The animatronics looked at each other before nodding. They stomped over to Dee, surrounding her.

“W…what are you doing?!” She shouted.

“That. Is. Enough.” Said a voice from nowhere.

   “Who…who’s there?!” Shouted Dee.

A golden grizzly bear materialized from thin air and stood between Dee and Henry.

“It is I. The real Fredbear.” Fredbear said.

“It…it’s you…” Henry said, even as his vision was starting to get hazy.

“If you’re here then…then help me! Destroy Henry once and for all for what he did!”

“No. Henry may have made mistakes in the past, and I’m not ready to forgive him just yet. But you Dee have continuously committed atrocities against the children and Freddy’s. You will be locked away in your box for a long time, until I deem you safe to be freed again. The box will be padlocked, and chained. Maybe then you will learn your lesson.” Fredbear said.

Henry barely had his eyes open as he watched the animatronics along with Fredbear drag Dee the other way. He saw Fredbear then march towards him while the others did something to Dee and her music box. But before he could say anything, his vision faded and everything went black.

Henry woke up in the void. He looked and sure enough, new wounds replaced his old ones. He sighed.

“So much for not doing that again. Hopefully that won’t happen for a while.” He coughed.

“You’re so damn lucky that I saved you again in time.” A voice said.

“Oh, it’s you. What is it that you want, furball? And don’t try to hide like last time.”

“I’m not coming out! You know what I look like and who I am, don’t you?”

“Well, what you look like, sure. Who you are, you hardly told me. I know you’re a guardian deity of sorts, that’s all you would say.”

A shape took form and its whiskers twitched.

“And that’s all you’ll ever know. Now, you’re here, because you died. Again. And I, being the oddly forgiving type, brought you back. Again.” Said the spirit.

“Yes. About that. Why? Why bring me back at all? You know who I am, and you’ve seen the things I’ve done. Why go and save someone like me?” Asked Henry. “Well, relatively speaking, since I’m still a ghost.”

The spirit shrugged and licked its paw.

“I guess I saw something in you worth saving. You’ve shown you have regrets. You’ve tried to correct your mistakes and undo what happened. Problem was, you couldn’t do it alone. But even then, I saw you had potential to do the right thing, even if it seemed hard. I’ll be honest, I was the one who sealed you within this Freddy’s location, sealing you from the outside world.”

   Henry glared at the spirit.

“Why wouldn’t you tell me that?!”

“Well, because of that reaction. You would have demanded I undo it. I knew Pumpkin was arriving. It was honestly hard to keep track of her. That girl can move pretty fast, and I’ve been to more locations than she has. Being a spirit, it’s easy for me to do that, but I forget that humans have slower bodies. And Pumpkin only able to travel via a bike and sneak inside trucks, well…that puts a damper on one’s plans a little.” Said the spirit.

   “Okay, but the chain thing…”

“That was also me. I wanted a way for you and Pumpkin to be able to find a way to compromise. But it wasn’t entirely me. It was you. You wanted an escape, you wanted to free the souls, even if you didn’t believe it anymore. I just helped nudge things along. I wouldn’t allow you to escape alone, because then you’d be doing whatever. Pumpkin became the key to let you outside, even if you were chained together.”

   “Why couldn’t…”

“Why couldn’t she see the chain? Simple. That was you too. You have a lot of powers that even you don’t know about Henry. She wasn’t allowed to see it. Because if she had, she would have tried to break it. The thing is only breakable by you. Good thing I never told you about any of this, otherwise my plans would have gone awry.”

Henry was quiet. This damn fleabag had been behind all of it all along and kept it secret for a long time. It was good, he’ll admit.

“Henry. The time has come. For you to continue. You must go to every location now. Every single Freddy’s, and even spin offs, and give the children their Happiest Days. They must know peace once and for all, so they can reunite with their families. The wrongs that you, William and Dee have committed must be righted. Otherwise this will only continue in an endless cycle of needless bloodshed.”

“But…how? I…I don’t even know where to start, and I’m still not sure I can, I…”

“You can. I know you can. You’ve tried before, and you tried again recently. And you will continue, because you have something all humans have. Hope. And belief. You can do this Henry. Just have hope and believe in yourself. And try not to be so pessimistic, it was getting annoying.”

   Henry scowled.

“Go meet William and Pumpkin in Happiest Day. However, I must ask one more favour of you. This time you get to know it.”

Henry nodded, knowing he didn’t have much of a choice. The spirit told him what it wanted.

Pumpkin was worried. Dave was entertaining the kids and they were laughing and smiling and she joined in sometimes with Dave, doing performances and little dances, but this couldn’t last forever. Where was her Uncle? Where was Henry? He needed to be here too, so that way he could see why it was so important to Pumpkin that the souls be free. He knew it now, but still…he deserved to be apart of this too.

“I’m going to go out there!” Pumpkin said.

   “You can’t!” Said Dave, shocked.

“The pizzeria is in shambles and Dee is probably still fighting him!”

“But…but the last spirit is here now! Obviously Shadow won! He…he has to be alright, he just has to! He’s my friend!”

Dave looked at Pumpkin and wanted to say something, but didn’t know the words.

Just as Pumpkin was about to run off again, a portal opened from the exit and Henry entered.

“Hey, Pumpkin.” He smiled at her.

   “Sh-Shadow!”

Pumpkin ran up to him and hugged him tightly.

“Heh, were you worried about me that much? You shouldn’t be. I’d be back. I always come back after all.” Henry said.

“You’re such a jerk! Don’t ever do that again!”

The other children ran up to Henry.

    “You were awesome mister Hen…”

Henry quickly stopped the Freddy masked kid from saying anymore by covering the kid’s mouth with his hand. He whispered to the children that he has a secret identity that he’s just not ready to share with others just yet.

Dave watched the kids and Pumpkin, before turning away.

Even here. He can’t see me, even here. That’s a little odd. Henry thought.

“Come on! It’s almost time!” Pumpkin said and the kids cheered and ran back to the table in front of the stage.

Dave and Pumpkin performed and Henry watched, smiling. Even looked away when William did something embarrassing on purpose, just to make the other kids laugh. Even Pumpkin laughed a little.

Pumpkin and Henry also did their performance and dance, with Pumpkin even dressed up as Lucky the cat. They even did the fireball show at the end and the kids clapped.

It was better, now that no one had to worry about animatronics biting their heads off.

“It’s time.” Dave said and left to the kitchen.

He returned with a huge cake and placed it in the middle. He grabbed a camera.

“Smile!” He said. Henry and Pumpkin climbed off the stage and stood next to Dave.

“We want to say, sorry. We’re sorry we couldn’t stop that puppet in time, and for what Freddy’s had committed over the years and refused to admit it. We’ve all made mistakes we’re not proud of. But we are glad to be here with you, to finally see you finally free and move on.” Henry said.

“On behalf of me, and the real Fredbear who is watching, and Dave and…Shadow, we want to say, thank you. Thank you for letting us free you, and thank you for inviting us here. It’s been wonderful to help you all.” Pumpkin said.

“We thank you as well. You helped us out.” Said the Freddy masked kid.

“Yeah, you rock!” Said the golden Freddy masked kid.

“Thank you for freeing our spirits and letting us have our happiest day.” Said the girl wearing the Chica mask.

“Yeah, thanks”. Said the girl, who didn’t have a mask, since she was the one in Farfour.

“We’re glad we can finally leave. Who knows. Maybe one day, we’ll run into each other again, and we might have to help you out one day.” Said the Foxy masked kid.

    “Maybe. We’ll see.” Said Pumpkin.

“We’re also sorry for giving you such a hard time. We thought that that puppet was helping us. We didn’t realize she was the one who tricked us and stuffed us in those awful suits.” The Bonnie masked kid said.

“It wasn’t your fault. She was very cunning, and even had done us in. Some of us more than most.” Henry said, looking at William.

“Well, she shouldn’t bother anyone anymore.” Said the Freddy masked kid.

“Yeah! Now no one will have to worry about her for too long!” The Chica masked kid chipped in.

The kids blew out the candles and Dave cut the cake and gave everyone a piece.

Henry was eating in the corner, with Pumpkin sitting next to him.

“So…what’s the plan for you now? You said you wanted to help me, but…freeing the souls takes a lot of work, and it won’t be easy. Even if we don’t see Dee for a while, we’re still going to deal with the fact that she killed a lot of kids and convinced them that William was the culprit. Not to mention all of…the kids that you and William had stuffed into suits.” Pumpkin said.

“Hey. I told you that I would still help you, didn’t I?” Asked Henry. “I’m not backing down from this. Never again. I’m going to resume what I tried to do so long ago...Well, undo so long ago.”

   Pumpkin smiled at him.

“I’m glad. I know I can’t do it on my own. William is great, but just the two of us would be difficult. So having you around would be a big help.”

   Henry smiled.

“Thanks Pumpkin. That means a lot, all things considered. You’ve come a long way, since you came to the diner. Speaking of your name, would you still like to be called Pumpkin, or…”

“Actually, I would like it if you switched it up. William can call me by that old name too,  but only if we’re by ourselves. I don’t want people to find out who I am. I don’t know how many relatives I still have around, aside from you, and I don’t want…her to find out I’m still alive.”

“Very well. Then I will do so, Sally. Thank you.”

Once everyone was done eating, the souls soon waved them goodbye and began to leave, one by one. As soon as they were all gone, Henry, Pumpkin and Dave left the Happiest Day Cabinet, just as a beam from above crashed down and smashed it to pieces.

“Well, hopefully that means we won’t ever have to come back here again. I’m sick of this place.” Said Henry.

“Yeah. Same. Let’s get out of here, before…”

   “Stop!” Shouted a familiar voice.

Scott ran out of the office and confronted the three.

“You! You thre—two, have done something to this place! You wrecked everything! You’re not leaving this spot until you’ve cleaned up the damage and…”

Henry had enough and knocked Scott out and tied him up with rope and took him out of the burning building and stuffed him into the back of his own vehicle. He wrote a note for someone else to find.

   “Ah…Shadow, why….”

   “He’ll be fine. Let’s go.”

The three went to Henry’s house and sat down.

“Well, guess we no longer have a job. Well, at Freddy’s anyway.” Said Pumpkin.

“No. But I can always get a new job at a McDonald’s or another restaurant. I could tell them I’ve had a hand in Freddy’s before. They’ll hopefully hire me then.” Said Dave.

   “Hopefully.” Pumpkin said.

Dave ordered pizza and Pumpkin and Henry just sat on the couch. Pumpkin was playing on a Nintendo DS, and Henry read a book.

“So, I don’t think we can stay here much longer.” Said Dave.

   “Why?”

   Dave frowned.

“The cops have found me again, and I’m still wanted for what happened. And everyone here knows that they’re not going to legally pin it on a puppet, even if she was the real killer. Not to mention what I did all those years ago.”

“Oh come on! They saw what happened! They know what was going on!” Pumpkin protested.

“Even so, this building is condemned, and if they caught us hiding out in here, they would ask questions, and I would have to give answers, even as absurd as they would be. Plus, we should be closer to a Freddy’s, that way, we can help save the kids. I don’t know yet where we’ll go. But we’ll go to every location and free all the souls we can.” Dave said.

Pumpkin pouted a little. She didn’t really want to leave, but then again…she knew she had a mission and she knew that once she was done with Freddy’s, whether it was with William, or without, or even with her uncle, or without, she would be leaving soon. It just felt different, now that she had her uncle and William with her again. But no matter what, she wanted to fulfill her promise and save the children’s souls.

And that was just what she was going to do.

The tape started and a shaky voice spoke.

“I was wrong. William was right. I…I cannot do this anymore. I need to stop…stop…I don’t want to say her name. She’s become twisted, something entirely different. I did this…I caused my niece to be killed by that thing! And I…I wasn’t able to stop…I can no longer do anything for Sally now. But I can try to stop this, before anyone else gets hurt. I need to correct my mistakes and maybe…in time, I can forgive myself. I’ll fix my mistakes. For you Sally. I just hope…you don’t hate me wherever you are now.”

Henry turned off the tape and left the diner. He almost dared to look at the curtain. Almost dared to peek behind them one last time, but he couldn’t do it. He knew what he would see and that was the last thing he wanted. He knew if he did, he would not have the strength to continue on. To prevent this whole mess he created. He quickly left the diner, not even bothering to lock the doors and sped away in his car, to find a new place to live (if any realtors would allow him. If not, he would just break into abandoned houses, or old mattress stores and leave before anyone catches him. It’s worked in the past, hasn’t it?)

“…Hey. Hey, I know you can hear me. I’m sorry. This wasn’t supposed to happen. You were never meant to have this fate. I know you probably don’t think highly of your Uncle or William anymore. They did wrong, but I promise you, they’re not bad….from what I’ve seen anyway. They do care about you. We didn’t understand why they did what they did. Why they went off to kill innocent children. But I believe they had a reason, even if it was wrong. They are misguided and need to be brought back to the right path. I don’t think they can do it alone. The puppet only sees a monster in them. But she herself became vengeful when she was murdered and placed into the puppet.” Said the heavenly voice of the bear that Sally was trapped in.

“I can’t give you your soul back. That is beyond my power. But I can grant you life. I can gift you the power to live, even without a soul. But in doing so, I must ask a favour. I want you to promise me that you will go to other Freddy’s locations. I want you to go and free all the souls that Henry and William has killed, and give them their happiest day. And if you find either your uncle, or William, help them too. Get them to help you in your quest, if you can. And save the souls the puppet has killed as well. Then, when that’s done, all three of you must come back here and free the last soul…do you promise?”

Even with her voice as raspy as it was, and her body in massive pain, Pumpkin said her answer.

   “Then, rise. Rise.”

Notes:

This is it. The final chapter. The end of this story. Hope you liked this retelling of my old (very old) Dayshift at Freddy’s A.U. I’ll catch you on the Flipside.

Notes:

Hi, it’s Michelle, otherwise known as Crabbygirk on my old account. I had to move this story over to my new account as my old one was connected to my old email, which I no longer have.
