Hakhyun was trying really hard to distract himself from the terrifying and extremely handsome werewolf that was eating quietly on his bed. Not only that bastard didn't even said a ‘thank you’, but he also choked him and insulted his cooking!
In truth, he's far from a culinary expert but he's not the worst either. It has kept him and Saenggak alive for years. And the man hasn't even tried any of his culinary experiments.
Though Yoo Joonghyuk lack of manners may stem from whatever hole he came out of, the excessive scars adorning his body seem to indicate that the werewolf didn't come from a very beautiful place. And without mentioning the tattoos on his back.
“What are you?”
Hakhyun gets startled by the werewolf's deep voice, it cuts the quietness of the room like a recently sharpened knife.
“Yes?”
“What kind of being are you exactly”
“Oh well, I'm a witch and the fox over there it's my familiar, his name is Saenggak” Said familiar was curled around itself already sleeping in his little custom made bed.
“I thought familiars only took the shape of domesticated animals”
"It is true that familiars often take those forms but there are some that choose more unique appearances”
There's a moment of silence in the room after that, the two men just stare at each other, Hakhyun is the first to advert his eyes with a fake cough.
“May I ask, how did you ended up unconscious at the entrance of the forest?”
“That's none of your concern”
“Alright…”
Even more silence, Hakhyun feels awkward, playing with the corner of the book page he's holding; meanwhile Yoo Joonghyuk couldn't look more at ease while lying down on the bed. Hakhyun then proceeds to take the tray out of Yoo Joonghyuk’s lap.
“You should rest more, I'll wake you up later to give you your medicine”
“Where will you sleep?”
“There's a bay window downstairs, I already tend to sleep there sometimes so don't worry. Saenggak will be here with you so if you need anything tell him”
Yoo Joonghyuk only nods and proceeds to sink into the comfort of the soft mattress.
It's deep into the night, the snowstorm is raging more than ever, most of the lights are off and Hakhyun is standing in front of his cauldron preparing more medicine for Yoo Joonghyuk. Honestly, at this rate he'll have to ask the Divine Doctor to bring him some of the ingredients. Who would have thought that a poisoning of this magnitude would be so expensive to prepare? Not him, that's for sure.
“...”
Hakhyun’s mind wanders to the back tattoo that Yoo Joonghyuk has, he has seen that before; but from where? Goodness, did he give refuge to a criminal or something? That's all he needed…
Though Yoo Joonghyuk is not the first being that goes to die in the forest, and he won't be the last either, Hakhyun has saved and found multiple people that wanted to put an end to their existence inside of the forest.
Not to mention how many times he has saved people from falling victims of the forest’s inhabitants. Those things are difficult to deal with, even for someone as experienced as Hakhyun.
He hears a small noise behind him and when he turns around he sees Saenggak sitting on top of the table chewing some of the berries that were there.
Hakhyun quickly pours some of the medicine into a small cup of tea and hurries upstairs. Yoo Joonghyuk is there sleeping peacefully though he opens his eyes when he hears the door closing.
“Sorry to wake you up, i brought medicine for you poisoning”
Yoo Joonghyuk doesn't say anything, he just sits up and drinks the medicine with a blank face.
Hakhyun looks out the window at the raging storm, he'll have to clear all the accumulated snow tomorrow.
He can't help but wonder in what state the city will be in, even though the overall state of the city has improved, a blizzard is not something to be taken lightly. He should go and check tomorrow, though he has someone to take care of…
The mentioned just stares at Hakhyun in silence, studying carefully at the man lost in his thoughts, then Hakhyun turns to Yoo Jonghyuk and takes the cup in silence.
“That'll be all for tonight, please rest”
Yoo Joonghyuk only nods.
Hakhyun goes downstairs and puts the teacup on the sink then prepares the bay window to lie down and sleep for the rest of the night.
